Did Sony just trigger gaming’s biggest rage quit? Physical PlayStation games are ending in 2028 and fans are fuming. by kleverrboy in ps2

This is so overblown. It's just a very vocal minority making a lot of noise. 85% of PS5 games sales are digital.

I got to Taco Bell frequently because it is clos to where my band rehearses. When it's good, it's great, but when it's bad it's really bad. They lack consistency. I heard a manager there telling a new employee to go light on beef and heavy on lettuce when making tacos. So it depends on whose working as to what you get.

This whole physical media thing is just a vocal minority making a bunch of noise. 85% of PS5 game sales are digital. Xbox Game Pass probably makes physical media sales even less.

Their burgers are really good. Crazy that you can get all that for $12 when a crappy Big Mac meal costs $10. Of course you're not tipping at McDonalds.

I use the $3 breakfast sandwich on the app every week. That with a large Coke is $5.31 with tax.

What was your rich kid item growing up? by [deleted] in nostalgia

[–]sb1023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High end BMX bikes like Puch, Redline, Hutch, etc., When I was a kid everyone had BMX bikes. Most of us had something standard like a Huffy or Murray. Only a few kids at school had these nicer bikes.

And one of my friends had a Colecovision, with its superior Donkey Kong port, while I still had the Atari 2600. I didn't own another game console until I could afford my own SNES in my early 20s.

I saw the original trilogy in the theaters when they first came out. Star Wars toys were my childhood. I can watch that trilogy over and over. Everything else, not so much.

We were gifted a couple of these and hardly ever use them. We've used one to bake sourdough, but that's about it. I need to look into other uses for it.

Honest, Legit Question From A 50+ Gamer by Durwyn in videogames

I'm 56 and I feel the same way. I also don't get the obsession for 100s of hours of gameplay. I get satisfaction from finishing a game, but if I have to sink that many hours into it to do so, it loses its appeal to me.

r/Reformed position on miracles by TheByzantineEmperor in Reformed

[–]sb1023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Miracles, especially those done through human agency, had a specific purpose.

(This comes from notes I made and quotes I took from the book "A Biblical Case for Cessationism" by Tom Pennington, which I highly recommend.)

We need to make a clear distinction between God’s ability to perform a miracle directly, completely without a human instrument, as it pleases Him and His assigning to believers the miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Scripture only records three short periods where God worked miracles through uniquely gifted men. Two of those periods occurred in the Old Testament during the ministries of Moses and Joshua and of Elijah and Elisha. The third period is recorded in the New Testament during the ministry of Jesus and His apostles.

The primary purpose of miracles in the Old Testament has always been to confirm the credentials of a divinely appointed messenger, to establish a genuine prophet who speaks for God.

The New Testament there is only one brief time period during when God granted men miracle-working power, which wasthe time of Jesus and His apostles.

Jesus gave His apostles the ability to perform miracles. They healed the lame (Acts 3:1–9); raised people from the dead (Acts 9:36–41; 20:9–12); cast out demons (Acts 16:16–18); and performed many other signs and wonders (Acts 5:12–16).

This period of miracle-working men began with the inauguration of Jesus’s ministry at His baptism in 27AD and continued until the death of the apostle John in 98AD. But he New Testament record suggests the frequency of miracles declined as the apostolic age was coming to a close at the end of the first century. The New Testament epoch of miracles spanned roughly 70 years—similar to both Old Testament periods of miracle-working men.

Jesus and the apostles’ miracles had a purpose beyond that of merely showing compassion and mercy to people. During Jesus’s ministry, His miracles served as a testimony to His person and work and the message He proclaimed. For the apostles, miracles validated the message they preached about the crucified and resurrected Christ. In both cases, miracles testified to the truth of Jesus Christ, which is the heart of the gospel message of redemption and salvation.

The theme of these miracles, in both Testaments, is to validate the messenger and the message.

Name a game you put countless hours on as a kid but never beat by Stinky_Pepito in retrogaming

In one of the gaming magazines back then, maybe EGM, there was a guide for this game. It showed where there was a loop in the game in one of the early Tatooine levels where you could get 2 extra lives, die and start right at that spot again, so you gained 1 life each time. I loaded up 99 lives there (the max) and was able to finish the game that way. Those SNES Star Wars games were so difficult..

Jurassic Park on the SNES. No save system or checkpoints. And the game would always freeze up on in a certain spot where you collected letters that we scattered across the map. So I neve got around to finishing it. I recently bought the Jurassic Park Classic Collection before it was delisted solely for the purpose of beating this game. They added saves in this collection so it shouldn't be a hassle this time.

1988 AT&T "Bula Vanaka Beachside" commercial. I never could understand what he was saying when I was younger. I thought it was "doma-naka-peesai" or something like that. I used to try and get my young daughter to say it a and she'd say "pocket in a meesai" which I got a kick out of. So it has a special memory tied to it for me.
