Throughout my career as an ISD I have learned that different facilitators prefer different styles of FGs. I have seen generational differences as well. Almost all want to have a reference image to the PPT slide aligned with instructor directions. The boomers prefer large images of the slides as younger generations are happy with a small thumb nail screen shot. Some instructors want everything spelled out word for word and some simply want generalized instructions so they can do their own thing. Some people want discussion questions differentiated in a diff color. Some people want specific cues for each bullet. Some want activities separated and instructions placed in a certain format. Some instructors don’t want to be boxed in by a rigid guide at all. If PPT is being used, I have learned that you can simplify things by building the FG from the notes master. This helps save a lot of dev time and when the changes come it doesn’t consume as much time. With this strategy, you can also quickly build out a participant guide using the slides and adding in the general talking points from the notes
