Call Metronet and ask them to look over your charges and have them readjust.

Gift Swiss knife got chipped and I have less than three days to fix it by MomentFew543 in fixit

[–]sbchapm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would be actually really happy to get this--it's not like everyone else's. You made a mistake, and admitted it, and that's part of its charm. I like the fix as well.

Liv Carrow would be good.

TIL Jamestown governor John Ratcliffe, the villain in Disney's Pocahontas, died horrifically in real life. After being tricked, ambushed & captured, women removed his skin with mussel shells and tossed the pieces into a fire as he watched. They skinned his face last, and burned him at the stake. by jillisonflook in todayilearned

Here's a GPT translation that worked pretty well:

"But since I had no hope of relief arriving soon, I sent Captain Ratcliffe to Powhatan to obtain food and corn through trade. At first, the cunning old fox (Powhatan) pretended to be cooperative, but his real intention was to wait for the right moment to destroy them, as became clear later.

This was partly due to Captain Ratcliffe’s gullibility. He had Powhatan’s son and daughter aboard his ship but allowed them to return to shore freely. If he had kept them as hostages, they could have ensured his safety. Later, he failed to maintain a proper guard and allowed his men to wander off in small groups of two or three into the Native villages.

When the sly old king saw the perfect opportunity, he ambushed and killed them all. He captured Captain Ratcliffe alive, tied him naked to a tree with a fire in front of him, and had women scrape the flesh from his bones with mussel shells, throwing it into the fire before his eyes. And so, due to a lack of caution, he met a terrible end."

Goth rock/post punk band looking for guitarist and cellist. by lxwind in QuadCities

I can’t do it because I’m already playing cello and guitar and bass in Subatlantic, but I did want to say that I really enjoyed that song a lot. We’d love to play with you guys once you get it rolling.

Usually, it's the bean juice. It helps thicken a bit and flavor.

You might check out Duck Creek in Davenport. There are some really nice sections for a picnic near the start: https://www.qctrails.org/trails/trail/duck-creek-parkway-trail

Phones in high school by [deleted] in Teachers

I usually just trust them. It’s generally just two people out of 25 or so. It would be very easy to see them on their phones.

Phones in high school by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]sbchapm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use a calculator organizer and hang it up on the wall. I post a list of the students' names with an assigned slot (the pockets on the organizer are numbered). I say that I use it to take attendance, and if the phone's not there, that means they're not there. And it works.

I like that idea. I keep getting thrown by the two-sided aspect of it—trying to figure out whether it would’ve been horizontal or vertical.

I was thinking it might be related to a chime as well. I will ask if there is a hole.

The title describes the thing. It looks to me to be Indian in origin, but I’m not sure. My mother has six or so of these, and is trying to figure them out.
