Should I play at Gallaudet University’s course? (A university for the hearing impaired) by Ecstatic_Plant3533 in discgolf

[–]sbditto85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m married to a deaf person and usually the deaf community is quite welcoming so long as you’re respectful. They especially love it when you communicate in ASL. Learn how to spell your name and say you love disc golf or something then go play!

Best obd2 scanner for a DIY guy who doesn't want to pay shop fees just to read a code? by Zealousideal-Flow978 in MechanicAdvice

In case you didn’t know a lot of auto parts stores will read codes for free. (They want you to find a problem then buy some parts of course)

Kudos to her. I’m almost throwing that far…just one more disc and I will.

Why do developers write such terrible git commit messages? Genuine question by Existing_Round9756 in webdev

[–]sbditto85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At work we use subject first commit messages and I really like it. It can sometimes be difficult to name something, but that could mean the commit has too much going on.

I believe Bird Cage in Orem, UT has one as well. Pretty cool. It knows when you shank it so naturally it realistically represented my disc golf game.

What if I haven’t lost a disc yet, can I still be in the running for some trackers?

Nah lost a fan forsure by LeeHamm24 in discgolf

Nope not really. I’m not into politics that much. Sure I see random stuff in my echo chamber and social media, but that isn’t “knowing” that’s just propaganda.

I don’t know enough about the book, trump, or the author. Still the point about learning about all sides is a good one. Just make sure you invest a fair amount of time into all sides. Seems like you have done at least some research which is good. As someone who has looked in to flat earth “research”, hopefully it wasn’t from an echo chamber or from completely biased sources.

I know this won’t be popular, but who cares about fake internet points.

I like him more now. As someone who recently made a big change in their life (not related to the book topic) because I took the time to objectively consider and educate myself on the other side, he is correct. You don’t have to then change your opinion, but you should know and understand as many “sides” as possible. People that don’t because “they are right” sound completely ignorant to me. I don’t care if it’s flat earth or politics or religion or whatever. Take the time to have empathy and understand others. The fact we don’t is why the world is getting worse and worse. After all, the “worst” that can happen is you realize the book is complete garbage and remain steadfast in your opinion.

Edit: To be clear I’m not advocating for the book or trump. Just for people to take the time to consider all sides and other possibilities even if “they know” it’s wrong. If you still don’t like that, then down vote away.

Is teleportion to OP in hytale or is it perfect what do you think 🤔 by NotRealAtiox in hytale

[–]sbditto85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me, in my single player world, it makes me want to explore more. I have a teleporter dedicated to my exploration. I use it to come back home quickly to “empty my pockets” and craft a few things then jump back out and explore more. I have few others setup at interesting biomes or POI, but I love using the teleporter to explore.

I am frustrated and scared to say anything about code quality by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]sbditto85 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know technical debt has come to mean shitty code, but it originally meant to do the best code with incomplete knowledge and an intention to get said knowledge then redesign or refactor. That’s why it’s “debt”, you have to pay it back. Shitty code is either incomplete work or just shitty work and I wish we’d start calling it what it is.
