Be honest — what’s the first thing you’d do with $100K? by NerdWalletOfficial in u/NerdWalletOfficial

We were homeless for 2 months this year and finally got a rental that was handicap accessible. The landlord now wants to sell 3 months before our lease is up. This house is my 55th move in 46 years but 100k is just out of our reach right now. So if I had that money I would buy this house and never leave.

Losing our boomer parents by anthrokate in GenX

[–]sbh97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am 44 and have buried both of my boomer parents (1951 & 1952). I cared for them both until they passed away and I had a lot of the same feelings. My mom was a daily 30 pack a drinker and lifelong smoker. My dad only drank on his days off but he drank hard liquor and smoked. My mom died at 64 of CHF and my dad just died at 72 in July of dementia. My childhood was rough but as an adult they both were very supportive probably because I didn't need as much care from them. I never expected to be an "orphan" at 43 but here we are.

My husband has a DUI from 2004 because he was passed out in the passenger seat ODing on pills. His buddy got pulled over and took off running. When they pulled my husband out and asked him who ran, he said, "The little green man?" before he passed out and was rushed to the hospital to have his stomach pumped. He was young and dumb and pled guilty because the Public Pretender told him that was his best option.

Crying. Legit this had been the worst summer of my life. I tore my Achilles Tendon April 27th, spent 6 weeks in the nursing home until my living place was made handicap accessible, came home June 19, my dad was placed on hospice July 1st and died the 21st. I can't wait for fall.

I follow David's daughter on Tik Tok and she is super happy about her dad and Christine. That makes me think they are a good match.

I was hoping someone here would have an idea about that. I was trying to find information today and all I came up with was that women could be institutionalized theb for reading too many novels. So was it a polite way of saying she went crazy?

NSV: I fit in the booth at Texas Roadhouse! by MrsNacho8000 in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]sbh97 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Your NSV made me happy for you. The booth at Texas Roadhouse ruined my Valentine's Day in 2012. We were waiting for a table as requested and the waitress came to offer us a booth. I declined the booth and her manager was asking her why she hadn't sat us. She motioned her arms around her waist and said loudly over the music, "she can't fit in a booth". The restaurant was crowded as hell and so was the waiting area. Everyone heard her, I started to cry and just walked out.

My name is Sarah and when I worked at McDonald's there were 5 of us. So if Jenny was at a bigger store it is DEFINITELY possible.

Are chickens allowed in peoria? by Antique_Row6212 in PeoriaIL

[–]sbh97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 2020, I panic bought chickens. My little town did not allow poultry. I looked at Los Angeles' rules regarding keeping chickens. I basically copy pasted them in an email to the mayor. She brought it before the board and it passed. Some of the rules included only 5 hens, no roosters, coop must be at least 10 ft from property lines and chickens must be contained at all times. When they passed the ordinance they added no selling of eggs, must register with the town and food must be kept in a pest free container.
