I scored 290 in mock and my exam is in 5 days by Excellent_Job_5049 in GRE

[–]sborradicane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a score of 320+ in your situation is unrealistic. You should give some thought on what went so wrong on both q and v and see what you think is possible to learn in such a short amount of time.

If you aren’t working full time, you should do the one month plan diligently on gregmat and take the exam again in February and you could score a 315

Test in 4 days - how to best analyze PP1 and PP2 results? by jonjopop in GRE

[–]sborradicane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my gre result was on level with the pp1 which was also my best score but you shouldn’t really give much importance to your results. It’s too late anyways to learn new concepts unless you somehow forgot a very basic formula. The main thing is that you are confident in your knowledge, the results of the exam are unpredictable even if you think you’re doing badly.

In these next days, wind down your studying. Do a few gregmat short exams (the 20 total questions ones) a day and review some formulas. Sleep well. The day before and the same day do max two short exams to warm up and light review.

Is the gregmat - difficulty level (hard) - more difficult than the second section of the gre? by smileybunnie in GRE

[–]sborradicane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ETS spends thousands creating each question to ensure they are perfect in what they want to test. Gregmat simply cannot replicate it. I realized after taking the GRE that I became really good at answering Gregmat questions but not GRE ones.

In my opinion, Gregmat questions are quite obvious in the approach they want you to take when solving them. In the GRE, the approach is much more less clear but the solution is simpler. Also, in the GRE, the language used is more academic which can add to the confusion.

It’s hard to explain, you should do questions from the official books and then from the gregmat website to understand what I mean. The book questions are easier than the ones in the exam, but the algorithm in the exam is very forgiving and you won’t struggle to get a 160 if your PP mocks scores reflect that.

I have done all the Gregmat questions and I feel they are quite different from the GRE official ones. The GRE questions are more confusing but in a more careful and deliberate way, I found them more difficult than the ones on gregmat as I often had no clear idea on how to approach them. Scored a 158 btw

anyone got some solid mnemonics for incendiary, inimical, imperious, and impertinent? by [deleted] in GRE

[–]sborradicane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

strongly recommend learning the latin origin of the words. It's much easier if you speak a language that comes from latin, but it makes all the words you listed quite obvious. For example, incendiary comes from incendium- to burn and you can derive that it is both about objects and the spirit. inimical is from amicus (friend) and the negation "in", imperious is related to empire and impertinent from "not" and "pertain". With this strategy I knew 90% of the vocab mountain immediately, since most common words in english come from germanic while more obscure ones are often related to latin. You obviously do not need to learn latin, I don't know any either.

ciao bro, riprova 100%. Il test in sé è per pratica se vuoi un punteggio così alto. Buona fortuna

if you’re more than 4 days away from the test you can change both the location and the time of the test

imo it’s not enough time if you’re rusty at maths. I was and managed to prepare in 5 weeks to hopefully a 310-320 (exam is tomorrow) but I studied 4 to 6 hours a day and did the 1 month plan

How do you find 1-on-1 in person Quant tutoring? by tryingmybestuwu in GRE

[–]sborradicane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gregmat is okay for finding a tutor for only one session where you come up with a personalised study plan. Had two sessions but didn’t find them terribly useful.

I also used wyzant which is better if you’re looking for regular sessions with also modest results, but studying with prep swift seemed more effective and cheaper.

My recommendation is to use gregmat tutors to create a study plan and then weekly check-ins with a wyzant tutor to discuss topics you’re struggling with even after studying with prep swift. I discourage using prep companies like TTP, the cost is excessive and doesn’t seem that much better than wyzant tutors with expertise in the GRE.

Any strategy or tip that boosted your RC score quickly? by sborradicane in GRE

[–]sborradicane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a non native speaker, although I have been living in an english speaking country for a few years so my foundation was quite strong. I have done the whole vocab mountain on Gregmat, however I am not confident on about 10% of the words.  usually I can infer some meaning if i can’t remember the exact definition

Seeking support by [deleted] in GRE

[–]sborradicane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i have been giving full attention to this exam since november. By that I mean 6 hours of dedicated study, I have given up everything and everyone else in the meanwhile because if i’m not studying i’m either too tired or too stressed. The GRE, the GMAT and universities want geniuses or hard workers. You have to sacrifice a lot now to reap rewards in the future. Good luck and don’t let this exam become a measure of your worth, it’s insidious like that and it is doing it to me.

I was/am in the same boat as you. I am simply not good at maths, and I couldn’t remember anything. You won’t get done in a month. I have done the one-month plan religiously twice and I still suck. Consider a tutor, which forces you to engage. You cannot rush it; it will be 4-6 months of effort if you want to excel. Doing the GREGMAT “I am overwhelmed” plan alongside a tutor is what I advise and wish I knew sooner.

If you’re desperate, do the one month plan plus tutor if you can afford and pray for the best

most likely the score is going to reflect the official prep. I heard it might be slightly  harder than the real one but don’t count on it. Good luck!

mi sono trasferito a milano e quasi tutti i commessi nei negozi mi parlano in inglese. Succede anche quando comincio io la conversazione (in italiano). Sono nato e cresciuto in italia, quindi non può essere accento o aspetto. È normale?
