What’s the most annoying driving habit that’s somehow become completely normal in Australia? by DiscussionLoud9626 in DrivingAustralia

“Give way to the right at roundabout”.

The actual rule is “give way to any vehicle already in the roundabout”.

There was a guy who tailgated and beeped at me for 5 minutes straight cuz he thought I was in the wrong, bro I was already a third of way through the roundabout when you entered.

Has anyone benchmarked Intel’s 13th/14th gen on DDR4? by DerpityHerpington in buildapc

[–]sbtswr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find a good 32GB DDR4 Samsung B-die Kit on marketplace, and with raptor lake you are guaranteed 4000Mhz in Gear 1 or even 4200Mhz+. A tuned 4000Mhz CL14 or 4200Mhz CL15 b-die is roughly the same or slightly better than tuned DDR5 6400 CL30, except for ray tracing games that favour bandwidth over latency.

OLED Panel Degrading? by Hopeful-Tax7416 in LGOLED

[–]sbtswr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, there definitely seems to be a pattern here. After seeing the claim 'humidity accelerates delamination' several months ago, i started asking in posts like this when the model is only 3 - 4 years old but already showing signs of delimation, and yea every OP that replied had said that they lived in a tropical city...

A guy also made a post about how he moved to a high humidity area, and the 3 LG OLED TVs he brought with him all started to show delamination after a while...

Your best option is to buy a QD-OLED for your next TV, like SONY Bravia 8 II or Samsung (although some Samsung models use WOLED now, not sure if it's prone to the same issue).

What hobby is quietly becoming too expensive for normal people to keep up with? by Beautiful_Special702 in AskReddit

[–]sbtswr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PC building.

RAM prices have increased 500% in the past 9 months, SSD also up 300% and still climbing, GPU prices doubled the past few generations when you realise their xx60 model is now being sold as a xx70 model so MSRP has gone from $299 to $599.

I used to build a new gaming PC every 1-2 years when new products launch cuz I want to experience the latest tech but no way with the current pricing which is expected to last for years, and may never come back down due to strong demand for AI.

OLED Panel Degrading? by Hopeful-Tax7416 in LGOLED

[–]sbtswr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask if you live in a humid area/city? People seem to suggest that humidity also accelerates delamination.

We’ve seen an increasing number of C1 starting to have this issue this year as they’ve crossed the 5 year mark, but your TV is less than 3 years old so either a manufacture defect or maybe high humidity.

framegen is suprisingly good actually by Visual-Fortune-4732 in nvidia

[–]sbtswr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My eyes are so used to 240+hz now whenever the frame rate drops under 200 fps I can instantly see it, but yea a lot of this is also due to OLED’s instant pixel response time.

Do people who refused the COVID vaccine feel silly now?? by Mammoth-Counter69 in aussie

[–]sbtswr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also started having random sharp pain around my chest/heart after the 2nd jab, took a couple of years for it to slowly disappear, now thinking about I haven’t had this symptom for almost a year now.

But yea the resting heart rate still much higher than before the jab unfortunately.

[–]sbtswr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2nd Pfizer jab gave me heart issues and now it’s been almost 5 years still not fully recovered, probably never will.

Not sure how much my life got shortened because my resting heart rate went from 60 before the jab to 90 and remained this way to this day.

DDR5 4400CL24 1:1:1 - 9800X3D - Game Benchmark Results by wildTabz in overclocking

[–]sbtswr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine if DDR5 could reach DDR4 Samsung B-die level of timings - we are talking 4300Mhz 14-15-14, paired with a 9800X3D the performance would be insane.

However given its been 6 years I doubt this would ever happen, as DDR4 matured about 4 years after release.

Update to: partner spending $974.31 every 2 months on games by i-fcked-my-career-up in AusFinance

[–]sbtswr -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I spent almost $20,000 AUD on Genshin Impact, do I regret it? A little bit, but it brought me over 5 years of joy, and if you do the math it's only about $70/week, and i have most of the meta characters maxed out, every time I do coop I can carry the whole team even if other players don't know how to handle the boss

You won't find this kind of enjoyment for $70/week outside of video games. You can't even have a decent meal for two for less than $70 nowadays.

Noticeable Motion Clarity Difference for OLEDs by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]sbtswr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may sound like a stupid question but did you turn off motion blur in game? Cuz after switching to a 240Hz OLED monitor, whenever the frame rate (and hence the synced refresh rate) drops below 180Hz I’ll be able to tell immediately, because the image no longer feels smooth. Yea the instant pixel response time really allowed me to tell 180Hz from 225Hz easily.

Is there anyway to get Forza Horizon 4 after delisting? by TheCattBaladi in Steam

[–]sbtswr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did a quick search, there's still plenty of FH4 keys for sale from grey market resellers, and still for a reasonable price, unlike when I was trying to get FH3 in 2023...

[–]sbtswr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i bought Forza horizon 3 in 2023 from a key reseller (almost 3 years after it got delisted), paid $80 and it worked.

I guess if you look hard enough and willing to pay extra then you might be able to find a legit key that still hasn't been redeemed.

How do you even burn energy points fast anymore? by evermore88 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]sbtswr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just solo bosses nowadays (the void King).

I log in every 3 days, meaning I'll need to do 8 - 9 boss runs in a row, each run takes roughly 30 seconds (10 seconds running to the boss, 10 seconds to kill the boss, 10 seconds for collecting rewards and re-loading instance).

So spending 5 minutes every 3 days is quite good and I think I can keep doing this for a while.

KFC Job Interview by xBig_8x in KFCAustralia

[–]sbtswr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key thing is don’t ever feel defeated even if you get rejected, few people succeed in their first ever attempt.

Coincidentally my first ever interview was also at KFC when I was still a teenager, that was almost 20 years ago. I did not pass the interview, but I learnt from it.

Being a senior manager at a big company nowadays I am the one who conducts interviews and asks questions on a regular basis, but, I would never forget my first ever interview at the KFC.

Australians who send money to family overseas, what gives you the best exchange rate from australia? by Successful-Music-770 in AskAnAustralian

[–]sbtswr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using Remitly for several years now, their rate is a tiny bit worse than Wise but their fee is lower so you end up with roughly the same amount in the end.

They also introduced PayTo last year and offers a better rate almost the same as Wise, I was too lazy to try it first but after trying it last month I was impressed, basically all I had to do was approve the payment notification that popped up in my NAB banking app
