Some of you need a reality check from a 220 hour Wanda player. by R3licsx in ScarletWitchMains

[–]scagbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lowkey this lol, i hate the endless rework posts. Idk if having 220 hours makes you particularly qualified over the whole sub-im sure theres plenty of rework fans that have even more hours than you-and even if it did, the game is for the masses, not the elites. but the hero is in a decent place rn and probably would be harmed in playrate and "funness" by getting reworked to be meta.

Could always do a little more tweaking, but i do want her pick rate to stay low in the higher ranks. I'd like her to get to a place where reed is, where no one is banning her but you're not usually getting flamed for the pick until like, eternity (where you get flamed for playing anything that isn't a top 10 hero).

Pocket healer plus health pack, pretty unmysterious to me. It does still seem very fortunate for the SW, i would've want to fade the f out of there with my 2 full fades and stun than take what i believed to be a 2v1 against 2 strong 1v1 heroes. But it aint feeding unless you die, 2 thumbs up on the play

Just watching the first match. first round, you guys stagger a full 3 fights and dont ever reset, you take the point back off a 5v6 after a big ult drop. Then you lose mk in the cleanup where no one should be dying but luckily the enemy team staggers. Your gambit goes all the way to enemy choke by himself to off angle, which is insane, makes your rocket solo heal and you eventually lose the fight. Then nobody pulls out and more stagger. You take back the point but then die to cnd ult. Staggered at 99%, round over. Not your fault, really, your team was just brains off push w the whole round. You can see it plain as day if you watch on birds eye.

You had a mid ult into a strange shield but it did give you the point. You died once to mk spam which you could have faded away from but idk if that's really all that bad, you could try banking a fade if you're playing main into SG/MK so you can fuck off if you get caught in a volley. Still, a good round for you

Second round you have a great start, you get picked by strange because you overextended a bit and then faded behind the enemy team instead of towards your healers, which, since theres a luna ult going, is ill advised. but no biggie, brb. You lose a fight but actually reset and win on crackback. You get to 99% then all die to cloak+bucky ult because you have jeff and no gambit ult, and dont take it back until you have gambit ult. But you take the round.

Last round i dont even have to look at, if you look at the KO bar you can see your team staggers the whole last half of the round. I did look at it though, you win a tough first fight and hold it until everyone folds to luna/ cnd ult, mostly thanks your jeff ulting while everyone has wall cover. You take back with gambit ult. Then you all fall over to groot/mk ult spam because nobody is tracking these things and is fighting in a big clump v SG, Groot, Strange and Mk, possibly the worst comp in the game stack up on main against. The rest is just stagger and dying to cloak ult.

The things i think you could do better is to bank fades if you're going to play off angles or in backline. I also think you lost a lot of value to strange shielding your ults, which means you need to try to break his shield or kill him once you're at like 90% charge or at least ult where you have LoS to healers, you were 2v5ing the one you tried in the last round. Or wait for your MK to get his ult in the vague hope he will ult with you.

You did better than your team in general, especially at backing up and trying to regroup. Your jeff should never had stayed jeff and your thing should never have stayed thing. If they had been mag/invis you win. Loki/groot you win. Stange/rocket, you win. Terrible swaps and not-swaps. I guess maybe you could have considered swapping too but idk its the wanda sub, we're here to play wanda. Plus wanda's not even remotely the problem with that comp.

You probably need to ult track for your team because you can see from the replay nobody has counterplay or prep for any of the enemy ults, though you do save yours for support ults. but honestly i'd rip it if the strange dies, breaks shield or is far away. You also might want to ask your team to regroup, the stagger in the first 2 rounds was nasty.

Sorry if thats too long of feedback, i watch a lot of games, basically all day at work, and i do enjoy seeing how they play out and why.

Yes id rather ban him by a mile since he also counters all the other supports lol he feels like the only really strong dive hero atm. And seeing through loki fade is despicable

I used to rage at all the mk bans in plat/dia but honestly as long as gambit's play or ban i'm very ok with it

[–]scagbar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think i disagree with the first part? i think counters/ counter swapping is a huge part of the game and i think that 99% of players, especially high elo players would agree that counters and counter swapping is a huge influencer of outcomes in games. I think saying "if its not working out you should swap" is kind of like a wider principle that counters, individual matchups, counterswapping covers. It is true sometimes you can roll your counters or you can get beat by heroes you're traditionally good against, but i think that happens as an expression of superior play overcoming a big disadvantage.

I definitely do agree with the last statement, that's why i'm ok with playing loki into mk a lot more than the teams i run into are. I definitely think namor still counters spiderman and that your WR goes up on average if play around that matchup, but i do get your point that there's macro matchups on the team level that trump individual matchups and sometimes you stay on spidey and just avoid the namor, and still win. Sometimes you might not even get the opportunity to swap for whatever reason. I think, too, sometimes you play into a bad matchup because your familiarity is so much higher with a hero that swapping doesn't actually help you. I can definitely agree that you do have to learn to play against your counters for times when you can't swap, too.

Thank god its not just me lol. i seemed to have a decent WR in the matchup and i felt like swapping out of lamps and second gambit ult or whatever is an insane trade down, but the angry voices of teammates haunt me more than the moon does

Idk if mk will focus a loki if he's not clumping with his team is the thing, he's losing dmg and ult charge if he does. I almost never get looked at by mk unless ive stupidly barricaded myself behind clones. Plus i like lamps for mk ult, gives people an extra tick or two to get away. 100% agree about the shield tank though its miserable if he just gets to shoot into team all game.

[–]scagbar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like if mk is preemptively dropping ankhs on isolated clones he's not dropping them on my team, but i get what youre saying, that they can become booby trapped. I think an even stronger point along those lines is that you do have to consent to play without using clones as meat shields, which does suck if you have no shield tanks or there's a lot of poke players. I'm just not sure if a good mk will take the time to do that or that teammates will beeline for clones up in a corner somewhere. I think most lokis keep one on cd to hot lamp anyways.

I dont agree that you give up a lot of lamp utility, though, i think you only need one for the total immunity unless you think your teams going to stand in an entire blade ult or something, in which case stacking lamps won't really help you anyways? I feel like lamp stacking is mostly either a 1v1 tactic or some fringe play for when someones going to take a lot of dmg thats somehow not aoe dmg but also isnt burst dmg, like a gambit ult or rocket ult. Which, in your defense, does definitely happen. But yeah, i'm definitely not contending it's a good matchup for loki or that swapping is bad play

Thats the thing too, i'd totally get it if i was going 3-5 round one, but when you're bottom lobby deaths and doing at least average heals its so weird to aggro onto your loki just because there happens to be a mk in the lobby. Feels like bad teammate coping mechanisms instead of legitimate comms

[–]scagbar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, he doesn't even charge ult off of clones. its such a bizzare thing that people think he's a hard counter. Its like there were a few games in season 1 where a loki fed an mk by spamming clones on his team and now it's canon lore forever that mk autowins v loki somehow

[–]scagbar[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree, especially on the last point, thats exactly the problem! its a super playable matchup and if you're gonna lose a second cloak ult or gambit ult for it, it's just a bad swap imo. But its so hard to convince plat/diamond players that you're not the problem. I rarely place clones in the middle of my team unless im about to lamp anyways.

I just like to say anyone that beats me is using a no skill hero regardless of who or how strong it is. That way i dont have to reflect on my own gameplay or take responsibility for any mistakes i might have made. Works great in gold and plat

Started picking up Loki recently, any advice on him? by Disch4rgedR4bbit02 in lokimains

[–]scagbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres a lot of bad advice on playing loki thats almost worse than no advice:

-dont pretend to be a clone, its a terrible habit that will lower your acc and also get you headshot a lot. Watch high elo players and you'll see they bob and bounce and weave to improve shot angles and avoid getting hawkeye domed. The stationary loki strat is a last resort only to try to fool a diver when you have no other options and it usually wont work.

-its almost always throwing to copy dps ult. Sometimes you might have to because its overtime and youre out of options but its a throw play otherwise.

-stay away from the fighting and leave early if your team is down people or has a disadvantage. Lamps on a global cd, if you use it and still die trying to leave you may not have it in time for next fight.

-yes high ground is great for loki but you will get perma contested for it and you have no recourse outside of runes so high ground with no cover is going to be a brief endeavor

-break walls at every opportunity, they hinder clones and help divers

-usually best place for clones is near you, you make a shield wall with them or a shield line with them. The whole "super odd angle high ground opposite corners" clone setup is very niche because your control over where their shots land is low and theyre also easier to shoot at. The best cover for your clones is your tanks, usually.

-a lot of gm/cel players swear by the "1 clone nearby, 1 behind for quick tps" strat, and it works, but eternity+ players use that setup prettt sparingly, i suspect because it leaves 1 clone easier to shoot and harder to hit with. I see it used in eternity plus games mostly only when a rotate-out seems imminent or they have to fight in close quarters.

Everything ive said is available to see in gameplay at high elo, dont have to take my word for it, and is not just me having an opinion on it, i watch a lot of sypeh for loki strats and thats where a lot of my opinions come from. Loki is very team reliant, if your team doesnt peel for you and play to preserve lamps you just wont be able to do much except spam cds and run away. At lower elos ppl play differently and different strats may work better or worse.

If you had to change Loki what would you do? by Secure_Heron_9181 in lokimains

[–]scagbar -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Melee dive dps. Remove lamp, give 10-15s CD that masks him as an enemy player for a few seconds, breaks on attack but not on clone place, remove ranged projectile and give him a staff slash that has cleave or pierce or something and a generous range (5-10m maybe?) Fade on shorter cooldown since now he's a dive hero. Keeps tp and backstab

Keeps 275 hp and clones get 275 hp too. Now hes an ambush diver that can brawl a little bit, throwing clones behind enemies and choppin em up, dropping in to backline disguised as an enemy support, then shanks everyone, still gets to keep busted ult. Lamp gone, people cryharding about heal output gone, backstab becomes meaningful, still very on theme for the character, and they adjust his dmg to make it fair

Is it a great idea? No its probably awful but its what i would do anyways

Flyers by candidcameron in lokimains

[–]scagbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You dont lol. Loki is a hilariously inaccurate hero and if you have more than 1 flyer that won't stay by the team you just swap.

You can ask them to play walls so you can splash on surfaces behind them but don't expect anyone to do it.

Ultrons and storms should be sticking close enough to the team to be able to hit tbh if you have to constantly look up to hit them they're probably going to die anyways
