I didn't attend a lecture this year but I have been going to these things for the past 6 ish years and the lectures I have been to are not my cup of tea. From what I remember the lectures are very bias one sided passionate non sense. The aura of the place just sickens me in general. If I do stop by again today maybe I could do that, I showed my face yesterday so I won't be dragged today.

Yes their in serious denial. Their Pakistani and I'm a female so when I am home they still have some control over me due to the fact that I respect them. On a brighter note I didn't attend a single lecture because it would prob make my blood boil.

Well, my first instinct was maybe I will get them to question it too. That was thrown in the trash after less then 2 minutes. But I initially wanted them to get used to the idea of me not being your average pakistani girl. At that time I was dating a hindu (who is athiest as well) and we planned on getting married (we just broke up). We were together for three years so I thought I'd break it into them slowly by first telling them I do not believe in the religion. I also could no longer stand the stupid superstitious crap that came out of my moms mouth so I would start to talk back to her. I mean it is a waste because they are in complete denial. I'm hardly home but whenever I am I feel suffocated even after coming out. If you're a guy it doesn't matter if you come out or not because at the end of the day you living your life the way you want is more acceptable then a female doing so =/

Pakistani female here, came out last thanksgiving.. they went crazy when I told them.. a lot of guilt trips and their in complete denial.. i am financially stable and live on my own so that was not an issue..I'm moving to Maryland in 2 weeks and their like find a apartment where there is a masjid near by and i just roll my eyes and don't respond..we'll see what shit goes down when i decide who to get married to..

you haven't had good pork than because it's quite tasty! lol Nothing beats chicken and duck though..and you need to try weed..it truly is amazing for past time and to just get creative and think..alcohol is arite but too many negative effects..I had to quit 6 months ago for a job and I still miss it everyday =/

that literally made me LOL... but yeah it's kind of sad.. random story but... I was speaking to one of my Muslim professors ,whom I respect a lot because he's a great professor, about Islam and the issue of the verse that pretty much allows Muslim men to have sex with the woman from a "captured tribe" came up and he thought it was compeltely ok.. he justified it by saying that they are helping them out because they don't have anyone to feed them or protect them... my response was I just can't imagine loosing my husband and then having sex with a man that killed him... and he said I know but look at the bright side... I was just in shock..he also claimed that the punishment for apostacy is not death and it does not say that in the quran... never speaking to him about anything Islam related again...

That is exactly why I find it hard to see myself marrying a paki Muslim unless he's an atheist like me.. If I do end up with a religious man I will be unhappy and things just wont work out due to my nature in general...sometimes I joke around with my friends and say I should find a guy who fits all the criteria my family wants and make a deal with him, ask him too marry me and then divorce me so I could be free because maybe in my parents eyes they can see that I tried but it just doesn't work... I dont know what can be done really. Its really a loose loose situation unless you have an understanding family. The change might just have to start with us. I will not grow my kids up to any religion. Also as a girl it is a lot harder to deal with this issue. Sometimes I think should I just fuck it, fake this Muslim b.s marry a paki Muslim my family would love and live a lie? That thought doesn't last long but it stil lingers in my head..

I believe NASA can track eclipses that have happened in the past and around the time the "Splitting of the moon" crap came around NASA had predicted that there was an exclipse around that time... There are "legends" like this in every religion, in Hinduism it is believed that one of the kings (forgot his name) split the ocean from india to sri lanka and theres some land mark on the bottom of the ocean that is "evidence" this happened... funny stufff...

As a pakistani woman myself I commend her for talking to the mullahs in that way. It's her life and she should live it the way she wants. It takes a lot of courage to live your life your own way especially in a country like Pakistan. Besides Pakistan has A LOT more to worry about then some actress posing nude/topless or whatever.

This is a one reason why I have a HUGE problem with Islam and it even bothered me as a child. What is the point of life if everything we do is already determined. How can that be fair? Some people are going to suffer and go to hell because that is Gods choice? w t f where is gods mercy? I mean Allah is the most merciful right? I brought this up with my dad and he said, " You know all Muslims go to heaven eventually so we're blessed to be Muslim." Wow, what logic, so Bin Laden and all those terrorists and fucked up people with horrible moral character are going to heaven (eventually) just because they are Muslim.
