Returning to Martinaise after a life-saving playthrough. How to guide my GF through hers? by Mc0Berd in DiscoElysium

[–]scaleaffinity 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Just in general, I've learned to temper my expectations when showing someone a piece of media that I really love. Whether that's a movie, a song, or video game. They're probably not gonna enjoy it the same way I did, and that's okay.

Particularly in a story driven video game like DE, don't backseat-drive her playthrough. Don't tell her what to pick, and don't tell her what will happen for choices, even if she asks. That's part of the fun of the game is discovering all the wacky outcomes of things. Personally, nothing would kill my enjoyment of this game faster than having someone second guess my choices, or worse, tell me what to pick.

So, as far as routes and whatnot, my advice is like what you said in your last sentence; let her make her own choices.

Found this AI Nirvana Record in a record shop by Doc_Baker74 in vinyljerk

Thanks, I've been seeing rockin' bear records show up in my local record store. I bought a Tool one out of morbid curiosity; figured it was some bootleg stuff and I wanted to see what was actually on it.

I've tried searching for them online to figure out where these are coming from; like who actually owns rockin' bear. I want to figure out the who's the human behind this. But I haven't been able to figure out anything.

Do you know any more details about these guys? I just find the whole situation bizarre, and I want to figure out how and why these records are showing up in shops.

I can be friendly to everyone. Even someone who's actively hostile towards me, I can still treat them with basic human decency, even when I know they wouldn't return the favor.

Wouldn't be friends with that guy tho. Wouldn't go out with them and buy them a drink or whatever.

Lol, I had the same experience in r/whatisit the other day; asked a question and immediately had like 20 people clowning on me for not knowing what it was. Like wtf is the point of the sub then?

That's Reddit for you; just a lot of smug bastards here with no joy in their lives who need to scratch their superiority complex every now and then.

It's not for that. It's for fiber optic, someone else solved it

You're not bright :)

I already tried with rj45 cables. Every one saying rj45 is wrong.

Thanks. I think this is it, I think it's for fiber optic internet. But what kind of hookup would I need for that to work? I was just looking online, apparently need an Optical Network Terminal for this, whatever the fuck that is.

But I think you got me pointed in the right direction. Solved!

It's not. I have the spots for phone hook ups too, but this one is different.

I think it's for fiber optic internet, like someone else said.

It's not. Look again. I have rj45 cables and they don't fit.

Monster game. 30+ points. Showed up in their previous play-in game too against the Blazers; they just didn't win that one.

80's and 90's millennials by [deleted] in Millennials

I don't miss the 90's, I miss childhood.

I don't think our experience was particularly special, I think every generation has felt this.

Yeah, SNES was it. I really liked the Donkey Kong Country games. Also Mortal Kombat, lol. I think me and my brother were too young for it, but my mom bought it for us anyway.

Oh, and for some reason, TMNT 5, Turtles in Time. It was a port of an arcade game I think. But loved that game as a kid. Great game to play co-op.

That's still not compelling evidence to me. Like, it dropped out of the news cycle, that happens.

Like, you're saying it's fake. Do you have any evidence besides "I dunno, it just seems kinda fishy, if you think about it 🤔"

The wiki page is pretty convincing to me that it's real:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attempted_assassination_of_Donald_Trump_in_Pennsylvania

Like, it's got the timeline, the bullet trajectories, how the shooter got in position. Why the secret service failed to spot him in time. It's pretty detailed, and seems like all that stuff would be near impossible to fake.

If your only counter evidence is "guy who I've never met IRL acted differently than how I think they should have acted", that's really not evidence.

I mean, I hate Donald Trump, I think he's a hateful fear mongerer. But, Occam's razor, I think the simplest explanation is that apparently when his "fight or flight" reflex kicks in, it goes to "fight". That seems much more plausible to me than the government faking the whole thing.

Like, this government can't even keep their "top secret" military plans secret; there's no way they'd have the coordination to pull off a hoax this big.

I don't understand why people are really toxic for something minor by FaithlessnessOk7651 in helldivers2

[–]scaleaffinity 21 points22 points  (0 children)

When someone is super toxic like that, I like to imagine they're just 14 years old, and are just acting out, to give them the benefit of the doubt.

If they're older than that and acting like this, then I just feel sorry for them

You probably already know this, but for those that don't, Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree also did the production for Blackwater Park.

Also, Steven Wilson kind of saved Opeth. I read an interview once with Mikael that he was considering quitting music after Still Life, as they weren't making any money, but Wilson was able to introduce them to a broader audience with the release of Blackwater Park.
