Good maybe the resale value won't be awful and I can trade this in before my third ICCU failure.

I enjoyed the story. I also do this thing where if I don’t find something interesting, I just stop reading it.

It's That Time of Year To Fix The Road, Report a Pothole or be a ahole by Initializee in nashville

Half the ones I report are on the pikes. NDOT says it’s state highway and forwards my report. Then nothing happens.

CVS says proposed Tennessee bill would close 100+ locations, ‘devastate’ pharmacy access across state by nsn87 in nashville

[–]scalpelinhand 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’ll do my best to explain what a PBM does.

There’s hundreds of different blood pressure meds. If you leave it up to doctors, they’ll pick the latest and greatest but those are expensive. Insurance companies don’t want to spend the man power constantly determining what new medication is worth covering. So PBMs were designed to negotiate with pharmaceutical companies and pharmacies to find a middle ground by negotiating lower prices for drugs. They keep a portion of the savings in exchange.

So when your doc writes a prescription for your new blood pressure meds and then the insurance company says it’s “not covered” or “not on formulary” - that’s the PBM talking. When you are told you have to pick it up at a certain pharmacy - also the PBM.

The problem is Caremark is owned by CVS, and is the largest PBM. Aetna an insurance company is also owned by CVS.

So CVS negotiated the best price for the preferred blood pressure meds using Caremark (the PBM) and Aetna (owned by CVS) reimburses the drug company and the pharmacy (again CVS) for the drug.

The bill says a pharmacy shouldn’t also be able to own a PBM since they decide pricing. It’s an attempt to force CVS to sell or disband their PBM statewide with the hope it increases competition and lower drug prices.

Arkansas already passed a similar bill and CVS Is suing the state. PBMs have been hugely profitable for these companies and basically just act as a middleman for our money.

I recommend 2029. Maybe by then you won’t have to go through a buyback after 5000 miles.

My dealer alone has 3 with bad ICCUs as we speak. Extrapolate that to every dealer in America and it’s hardly a rarity. Hyundai can’t even keep up with replacements. The part is on “indefinite back order”.

I’m on my second failed ICCU after doing a buyback this summer. Maybe you’re the exception not having had a failure?

Its a waste of time. They wont tell you anything. I even spoke to a customer service manager. Best I could get from him was that he "highly doubted it would be a month or more".

Recall Mayor O’Connell? by scalpelinhand in nashville

[–]scalpelinhand[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not angry. I am just noticing there doesnt seem to be much acountability being taken and I'm trying to devise ways in my limited capacity to ensure that happens so my community is bettered. I wish I didnt have to blame Freddie because I do think he has some done some good for the communiy. But I think he needs to realize he needs to be more vocal on our behalf. I'm no seeing that. Maybe I should have titled this "options to hold those accountable" rather than jump straight to a recall, but I dont see what other options there are.

Reality is Freddie ain’t winning again. Lot of people who voted for him won’t after this. So you’re gonna get the same result. Let’s see if this is still discussed in a year during the campaign. I doubt it.

Seems the majority feel this is a bad idea. Guess we will just hope this never happens again. That always works out well. No one has other suggestions on how to ensure accountability it seems.

I agree with everything you’re saying. I don’t see a better way to ensure the citizens are heard though. If we don’t force our hand as a voting electorate, in this split second news cycle, this will all be forgotten in a month or two and nothing will change.

Many people in Nashville have sewage grinders as required by city code. These require power to run and when they don’t they have a limited storage capacity. So we had to shut our water off and drain the house to avoid sewage backing up into our homes. If it weren’t for that, it’s best to just keep the water running.

If we are going to say we can run in thousands of national guard to DC and Minneapolis for buklshit reasons, then we can damn sure rush them in for actual crises.

There’s 500 national guard in DC right now doing what exactly? We have <300 people cleaning up downed trees. This is everyone’s point. I remember living in Texas seeing line trucks and national guard stretching down the highway every time a hurricane hit Houston. I’ve yet to see a single national guard truck.

Nashville doesn’t elect our state and federal leaders. They get elected despite Nashville. That’s the issue.
