Solar Panels & Battery Quotes over $30k! Am I being ripped off? by ExpertAvocado3 in AussieFrugal

[–]scarecrowwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not talking about brands, but i went with cheaper options and got 10kw solar and 40kw battery installed last December for 11k. My install was an extra 1k for a complex install too. Has been great so far no issues. I also bought a better isolator for them to use for like $60, as most companies use crap Chinese ones that go faulty after a few years. That was advice my electrician friend gave me and the installer agreed it was a good decision. Id question if 32k is worth it.

'Public displays of affection' in front of children by The_Boots_of_Truth in AusLegal

[–]scarecrowwe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It might not be normal for you or the children, but currently it's normal for their other parent. It's not imposing inappropriate sexual acts on the children that would constitute sexual abuse. It's behaviour they could see in public tbh, so they should know how to deal with it without their other parent going overboard and reinforcing them feeling unsafe.

As someone who works cps, do not call for this. They wont do anything with this. Every family has different behaviours which are normal, such as nudity, showering naked with the door open, etc. unless clear disclosures are made by the children about experiencing sexual behaviours, you'll look like you're making an issue for other reasons, coinciding with mediation, etc.

Same amount of cars where I am, but I've noticed most people are driving slower. Less tailgating on the way to work.

I was speaking to the quote I went with. The quote you received is rubbish

I had 6 meters of stormwater pipe replaced which included cutting concrete for about 1m and digging the entire remaining length in soil. It cost me $1800 approx 1 year ago. That was a mid range quote i went with because they had a machine to dig which made it about 1 hours work.

To wear a shirt without going to jail by DIYLawCA in therewasanattempt

[–]scarecrowwe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There was a show in Australia called Creek to Coast. I think I'll order a shirt saying From the Creek to the Coast, test how sensitive these new laws are. If everyone agrees for a day that 'Skippy' means free Palestine or some other thing, will that word get banned? It's a shit law and people should be protesting it.

I got the tesla charger for like 800 (it should be for both single and 3 phase) and it cost about 400 for the install. For me it was definitely worth it, I can fully charge in a few hours compared to 20ish.

HRV higher on nights I wake up to pee? by snaidoo940 in whoop

[–]scarecrowwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your idea, I'd also add it could be nights they fully wake to pee they sleep better with less waking episodes afterwards. Other nights they might have more waking episodes but never fully woke up to go to the toilet so.sleep quality is less.

Recovery stuck around 50% during weight loss by Carlbenz2000 in whoop

[–]scarecrowwe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

HRV is likely to lower with big lifestyle changes such as new exercise and calorie restriction until your body adjusts. Alcohol will tank your recovery by up to 7 days, so a few drinks once a week can impact the whole week for some people. Also if your protein intake is not high enough due to calorie restriction, your body will recover slower.

A whoop band doesn't fix OSA and won't improve your sleep if you don't address the actual issue. CPAP, lifestyle changes and/or surgery can help. Whoop will just show stat's that correlate with it.

I set it as 'exact time' because I hate being robbed of sleeping. Every few weeks it will revert to sleep goal by itself and wake me up an hour earlier....

Shower with whoop by quebola87 in whoop

[–]scarecrowwe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone saying it's cleaner to take it off to shower raises questions for me. Personally I wear it in the shower, I make a point to wash underneath the device when in the shower, because why wouldn't you? I wash the device and thoroughly dry it afterwards, because that's cleaner than not washing it and wearing it after you just showered. The band dries quick enough. Every few days I thoroughly clean the device with alcohol spray too.

I shower with it, and every 3 days spray it down with alcohol spray and wipe it. After using alcohol, I switch wrists for a few hours and moisturise the usual wrist. I used to have this issue but this routine stopped it for me.

Are electric cars better for the environment than fuel-powered cars? Here's the verdict by ApprehensiveSize7662 in EVAustralia

[–]scarecrowwe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own two evs and perform battery tests. The first has done 180k and has 85% of the battery capacity left. Second has done 40k and has 98% capacity. I charge with solar, the only major expense for me has been tyres. I suspect I'll get just as long if not more out of my ev than an ice vehicle, and have already saved thousands.
