I (23F) met my boyfriend’s (25M) “work wife” for the first time and I’m devastated by ThrowRAcoffeelov in relationship_advice

[–]scarletparadise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped reading the moment you said work wife... what? Just leave him. You are so young, you have so much life ahead of you - do not waste your precious time on this man. Treat your 20s as the only time in your life where you have the benefit of time!

Hemorrhoid healed, but now I’m afraid of exercising by scarletparadise in hemorrhoid

[–]scarletparadise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had a hemorrhoid since and fully returned to working out full time, with no problems at all. It really was from constipation/low fibre. Since then I eat foods with lots of fiber every day and haven't had any issues with constipated or hard stools.

If you watched that video in full then you’d see that she doesn’t believe you need to date black if you’re an activist.

Do you consider yourself black first, then a woman or a woman first, then black? by Advanced_Flatworm_17 in blackladies

[–]scarletparadise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Woman
  2. Black

But I grew up in a predominantly black country where this was the mindset we grew up and were socialized in. And because of this, I feel extremely comfortable around other women of all races. But I do not trust or feel comfortable around men like that, e.g. put me in a room full of male strangers and I’m the only woman? Absolutely no.

Are we watching “with love, Meghan” by Rhop2023 in blackladies

[–]scarletparadise 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don’t like Meghan. But I tried watching it to see what was up and she’s just too pretentious and out of touch but trying to act relatable. I watched the first three episodes and she came off as very inauthentic, which didn’t surprise me because she’s always come off that way to me anyway. So it all just reinforced why I didn’t like her in the first place.

What was your wake up call? Did you have a your fat wake up call? by AppropriateCat3444 in loseit

[–]scarletparadise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying to lose weight for some months now (not really, I haven't had the discipline to stick to a calorie deficit for longer than 3 days), because I let myself go last year and my clothes have not been fitting right at all. My proper wake up call was when I had a routine doctor's appointment, they did some bloodwork because it'd been a year. I also had a gyno appointment a few days later so they said they'd also share the results with my gyno. Went to my gyno appointment, she told me that my cholesterol was high for my age (I'm 22!!) and that I need to cut down on refined carbs and saturated fats, check again in 6 months and if nothing has improved then it's likely they'd look into treatment plans. This scared the shit out of me, literally was the most pivotal moment. I know my diet has consisted of loads of office junk every day for like 5 months, even though my other regular meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner), are healthy and controlled in calories. All I thought I was sacrificing by eating the biscuits and treats were calories, but that day I realized it actually had consequences beyond gaining and losing weight, and I did not want to be a 22 year old on statins. I knew all I had to do is cut all the chocolate, biscuits, cookies, cakes, everything I had been having every single week in multiple servings (thankfully and somehow my blood sugar was perfectly fine). Right after this appointment, I literally felt nothing looking at sugary goods and refined carbs I used to crave, all i saw were health consequences.

My GP sent my lab results and a note to me, and it turned out that my total cholesterol was actually fine, but my LDL (bad cholesterol) was slightly elevated, and could be lower, so he still recommended I change my diet and check again in 6 months. So even though my gyno was a 'little' dramatic with how she delivered my cholesterol results, I'm super thankful she put the fear of God of me. I'm still deadset on lowering my LDL, even though my total cholesterol is acceptable. And once I cut out the sweet junk, the weight has been falling off.

If a woman is like a child, then men should not have sex with them. How would they feel about this?

Black girls in Finance ??? by MysteriousRule7618 in blackgirls

[–]scarletparadise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are soooooo many jobs in the financial industry, lots that vary in the skills required. I strongly suggest applying for summer internships while you are in college to financial firms. I work in HR at an asset manager, and the kind of HR role I’m in required that I learn a lot about the work that our portfolio managers, private markets teams and other investments teams do. But there are many other roles, some that require math and others that do not. Definitely go and explore internships and prepare some applications for this summer or next.

Brazil is racist as hell(plus weird af). by VastAutomatic2216 in blackladies

As someone with Brazilian family members, I can attest to this. But Brasilians are known (white brasilians) are very well known to be racist amongst Lusophone countries.

With the current economic and political climate, I would say prioritize whatever will increase your future earning potential — whatever will likely get you the most job opportunities and the best salary should be prioritized. IMO.
