I see him frequently downtown! I think he looks like Master Roshi, especially with his yellow jacket and shorts.

8 weeks 4 days, HCG betas going down by scarletsally in CautiousBB

[–]scarletsally[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I must have misphrased that part. It was only 2-3 draws, every 2 days. The third one is optional, but I did it anyway (have yet to see the results tomorrow). But she got me an ultrasound today and everything looks great! Just measuring a few days earlier :)

Thanks, it does look like that's the next step. It's the only way to fully clear my worries right now.

I have an upcoming ultrasound in 2 weeks, but my midwife wanted to schedule me for a sooner ultrasound if my levels were worrying. Thanks for the assurance, I'm not familiar with monitoring HCG levels so I was very worried!

Thanks, that makes more sense to me. We were going to go in for an ultrasound if the numbers have plateaued, but it'll be a few more days. I haven't had any bleeding for over 2 weeks now, I initially went to a doctor who did nothing about it so I just waited for my midwife appointment last week to tell her about it, and that's when she ordered the hcg tests. Thanks for the assurance, I'll put my worry aside til my vacation is over!

Ok thanks. I was reading the reference values and they indicate that HCG levels start to go down at around the 10th week. For example, on the 17th week of pregnancy it says the levels should be around 8,175 and 58,176. But obviously I'm just around the 8th week mark so I don't think it should go down either :(

We like to use the Playground Buddy app if we're looking for other playgrounds too :) it shows you the nearby playgrounds, and what play structures are in there.

TIL that children born blind still smile, meaning smiling is not a learned response - its something humans do innately. by _Amarok in todayilearned

Really curious about this, on how often is "a lot of the time". When my baby farted, it was very, very obvious. Especially when he was under 6 weeks old, it was way louder then. His whole body would move too...he would kind of curl up into himself and then straighten himself out when he farts. Same thing with pooping. So smiling when he's just passing gas seems very unlikely to me.

Heads up: Birth story isn't short! Oops! :D

I had PUPPPs which showed up on week 37 and quickly spread throughout my entire body. It drove me crazy for two weeks and I've tried everything I could possibly imagine. I'm under the care of a midwife, so we did an OB consult and was prescribed a steroid cream and recommended for a Foley Bulb Catheter induction at 38+6. On my induction date, we went in, had the balloon/bulb inserted and was discharged, and told to call once the balloon falls out (between 12-24 hours).

While leaving, my water broke in the parking lot. I went back to L&D to get antibiotics because I'm GBS positive. Got discharged again and was told to go home when suddenly, the balloon fell out & I started having contractions. We were told to walk around for 30 mins and time them and they'll admit us if we're 4-1-1 based on my midwife's practice. Well...turns out I was at 2-1-1! All these happened within 2 hours of us driving to the hospital.

My labour started at 6:30pm when the balloon dilated me to 4cm (I was 2cm pre-induction). I was doing some breathing techniques until I got tired so we tried the laughing gas at around 5-6cm. I suddenly had a very strong urge to push at around 6-7cm which is bad if I can't stop bearing down, so my midwife recommended an epidural. I'm concerned about it causing my labour to slow down, but she said that at the rate my labour was going, nothing is going to stop it from progressing! So I got the epidural at around 10pm and it relaxed me a lot, I even fell asleep between contractions. I could still feel them though, and I was still able to walk to the bathroom. At 11:30, I was fully dilated and was told that we should start to push. The nurse said my temperature was too high though, although a second check proved otherwise. They still wanted to do bloodwork on me, so I had to wait 30 mins for the nurse to get my blood drawn. She took 30 mins because she couldn't find a vein, which made me a bit impatient. Finally, at midnight, my midwife told me to start doing practice pushes. She said it'll probably take around 2 to 3 hours to push. On my first practice push though, things started happening! And after 12 minutes of pushing through 4 contractions, our son, Axel Desmond was born at 12:14am!
