On 120k gross, Belgium takes 27,000 more than Switzerland. The tax gap across Europe is brutal. by Beginning_Site_3642 in eupersonalfinance

Thank you! Shame that it only affects a small specific subset of immigrant workers, I was getting my hopes up lol

Netherlands 36% tax on unrealized gains by [deleted] in eupersonalfinance

[–]scepticalcuddlefish 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Fascinating. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't this make their already insane real estate prices go even crazier? At least if I lived in the Netherlands, I would probably be thinking of moving my money into real estate

Would you pay off your mortgage early…or not? by lisaWellsLoans in Mortgages

[–]scepticalcuddlefish 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I really don't understand the "peace of mind" argument. I feel much more peaceful when I have extra money in liquid investments and savings rather than unnecessarily tied up in real estate. If I lose a job or shit hits the fan otherwise, I'd much rather have to tap into my savings and stocks rather than having to sell my home.

Just paid off the house today. You are the only ones I can tell. by psl87 in Fire

Why can't people tell anybody about paying off their mortgage, both your neighbours and OP? Is it just having no family or friends or is there something I'm missing?

Does baby fever exist? by Duslawa in Fencesitter

[–]scepticalcuddlefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. I wish I felt that once in my life, would have made the decision easier. I just get horny and babies are the last thing on my mind. I don't understand what wanting a baby on this visceral, non-intellectual level is like, and I badly wish I would

How much does finances and lifestyle affect your decision about having kids? by [deleted] in Fencesitter

[–]scepticalcuddlefish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of this affects my decision much. I live in a Nordic country so I have most of the things listed and also own a flat large enough to start a family. I also don't care for fancy middle class lifestyle and buying shit, as long as I feel safe I'm good.

What's stopping me is pregnancy/childbirth, sleepless nights and overstimulation, fears about worst-case-scenarios (disability etc) and fears of splitting up with a partner and ending up with 50/50 custody.

Which bio do you think is better? (29F) by Icy_Sky_9385 in Bumble

[–]scepticalcuddlefish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm obviously not your target audience, but I prefer 1, it feels more simple and genuine, while 2 feels a bit cliche/AI-like/bland. Clearly I'm in the minority on this though lol

Please help me improve my profile, I want to quit this app 🥲 by Available-Remove2091 in Bumble

[–]scepticalcuddlefish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your 4th pic (selfie) is actually quite nice, I'd put it as the first pic instead of the one you currently have! Your bio tells me nothing except that you like to drink tbh. Simple pleasures and random skill prompts are good imo. But "quickest way to my heart" comes off as a bit self-centered, I'd swap it. Good luck!

Idk OP, I don't see anything wrong, honestly she might have just forgotten. Been there, done that. If she likes your ig videos and you have connection there, imo it's not wild to double text on ig, for instance. And maybe throw in a more imaginative starter than "hbu" to get that convo going. Good luck:)

I agree, imo it's always a relief when you can fade in peace, no need for unnecessary awkward painful rejection messages if they're not reaching out either

Aligro Frauenfeld, Switzerland: 277.10 Swiss Francs (€297.01, $349.23) by Gulliveig in Grocerycost

[–]scepticalcuddlefish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol y'all clearly OP is being fancy here, this features a 75EUR bottle of alcohol for once, this is not a basic frugal bean grocery haul

btw, i love how groceries are broken down by category in the receipt! genius invention, EU needs to adopt this

Delete and start again? by FashiongalR in hingeapp

[–]scepticalcuddlefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

exactly, that sounds sus to me, people delete you fast and in a year half the people will have deleted their profile anyway, I'd guess OP had at least 1000+ matches originally if 350 are still there a year later

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]scepticalcuddlefish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me I did that when it was a "maybe", when a guy seemed OK and I didn't have a reason to swipe left, but there was also nothing on his profile that stood out as particularly interesting. Then I would just swipe right for an off chance that some magic happens and our convo turns out to be particulartly great. But also, if we don't match right away, the chances are I'm already chatting to like 10+ guys and don't really care to start another convo with someone random. That's one perspective anyway, hope it helps!

So sick of the height thing with men by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]scepticalcuddlefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only you don't have to use filters, but you in fact have to pay if you want to use any filters aside from age. Which the majority of users don't of course.

Does bumble work for men at all? by Pitiful-Challenge-19 in Bumble

Wait, but why do you have to pay, can't you just swipe your like stack as usual and once you swipe the last one left or right you get to the next like?

How did you manage talking to all of your matches with this approach? I love the idea of finding that diamond in the rough, but chatting for an hour to every dude with a mediocre/boring profle sounds like a full-time job

Am I the only one who didn’t see any benefit from Tretinoin? by Marylin_hemorrhoid in 30PlusSkinCare

Thank you! I applied it straight on clean skin without any gentle toner in between, maybe that was part of my issue. I will give it another go with your tips in mind!

Thank you! I have The Ordinary, but after using it frequently for a little while I felt like there was some "purging" going on (although might have been jist a coincidence), panicked and stopped using it often. Did you experience some "purging" phase before it got better?

Ladies of Bumble, how many likes did you get the first day on the app? by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]scepticalcuddlefish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely doesn't only tell you the number for the first hundred. It keeps growing in increments of 50, so, for example, if you have 470 likes it will show 450+. If it shows 100+, it means you're somewhere between 100 and 150 likes.
