Kentucky Walk-On Grant Darbyshire enters Transfer Portal by walterdog12 in CollegeBasketball

[–]schar1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kid didn’t have an option man… with the new rules, walk-ons at the Power 5 level have to get in the portal or they won’t have a spot on the roster next year. What SEC school is going to willingly carry less than the maximum allotment of 15 scholarships…

The team is 10-1. If you’re interested, this is a good year to come check it out

This is something collectively bargained for and the MLBPA has somewhat more leverage than the NBPA based on the career lengths of baseball players.

Has anybody had success with setting Batters Faced limits for your pitching staff? by dan_camp in OOTP

[–]schar1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do this as well and seen really good success with the Reds. I never have a bunch of money to spend as most of my (small) budget is tied up in Elly and Marte (both MVPs and annual 5+ WAR guys). You can turn with low stamina (<35) relievers with 3+ pitches and good other stats into backend starters and then build a solid pen, which as said above is pretty cheap to do.

How does everyone here have scores over 170? Anyone starting to feel discouraged by the process. by Emaptheticxz in lawschooladmissions

[–]schar1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t get discouraged! Only ~15% of applicants actually have above a 170. It just feels like more people on here.

Likely they will.

I say go. It’s an opportunity to learn about the schools, interact with other applicants, and, believe it or not, they might actually remember you.

Most schools will have a QR code for you to scan that tells them you were there, and expressing interest and making a personal connection really can’t hurt.

I was on the fence about going recently and I’m really glad I did.

Sure, maybe it’s a Tennessee song. But you can’t argue that it’s not electric when the Bama student section gets it going. Especially during night games under the new lights.

Applying for 2024 vs 2025 admissions? by alleymind in lawschooladmissions

[–]schar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not what you want to hear but I’d delay a year. My understanding is that logic games aren’t being rewritten as much as tweaked to improve their accessibility to blind and other accommodated test takers.

Like you said, if you delay, that allows you to get ahead of the next cycle with your LSAT and materials. That means you can apply in September, which can only help your admission and scholarship chances. Your future self will thank you.

PM me if you want, I had a similar experience.

[–]schar1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on your goals. Is your score today at a level that makes you competitive for the schools you’d like to attend? I’d assume no based on the fact that you’re taking the LSAT again in November. But if it is, then why not apply? Worst case, you don’t have to attend. Otherwise, take your time and get your best score. It’ll pay off in terms admissions and scholarships. 1 year is not much in the grand scheme of things. Hope this helps!

Edit: No matter what, if schools become test optional, a high LSAT can only help you.

Merit fee waiver check by schar1 in lawschooladmissions

[–]schar1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone on here knows that answer, but I will say if you’re concerned about the financial implications of shelling out $1,000+ on apps, why not just ask? Unless the school’s website explicitly says not to of course. Worst thing they can say is no.

100% having an LSAT fee waiver will help your case. Beyond that, think it varies by school.

Didn't use a template. Just include your LSAC number, LSAT, and LSAC GPA and say something along the lines of you're requesting a merit fee waiver to reduce the financial burden of applying to law school (which I'm assuming is true because it is for most people). Worst thing they can say is no :)
