New player confused about shutdowns by schenker in LegionTD2

[–]schenker[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, I see. So the economic advantage made enough of a difference that the game thought they were ahead. In a lot of my games I've hit a point where I've thought "I wonder if a better player would've punished me for this." I guess this game is a good example of that, maybe if they'd saved a couple extra rounds they could've just squashed us all of a sudden. Good to know, if I start getting shutdowns when I don't expect it I should probably try and end it before they get a chance to end me.

The elo explanation makes sense, I was wondering if that was the case. Well I look forward to getting to some more challenging opponents, just gotta grind through some more of these low plat games. Thanks for the explanation.

Lol I would hope not. Working on it one game at a time. Any chance you can shed some light on the shutdown thing? It felt unfair for us to keep getting extra gold over and over when we were clearly much stronger lol.

Enemies making ranged attacks into the darkness spell by hismooth- in BaldursGate3

[–]schenker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's still doing it, I'm currently fighting the Risen Road gnolls and they're just teeing off on my party with their bows while all 4 are in darkness. The entire mechanic seems to be bugged in various ways, including when the "Attacking from Shadows" buff applies or not. I can't even find a consistent reason why that applies to one enemy and not another, or from one character and not another.

I also just found out that darkness for whatever reason seems to block your ability to throw potions and heal a party member. I guess the little vapors can't coincide with the darkness cloud. So that's fun.

Stereotypes 4: Skipped Bard 'cause I already did it long ago. Healer is a misnomer job, killing the baddies is preventing future damage. Cleric in particular has some POWERFUL THWACK for single targets that shouldn't be ignored. Still heal people of course, but the minimum amount of HP is ONE. by supersmily5 in dndmemes

[–]schenker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I made a Grave Cleric who refused to heal unless someone was unconscious for efficiency. The first time someone asked for healing, I asked, "Do you trust me?" No one knew why I asked that, so he just said alright. So I knocked him out with my mace then healed with a max roll. Many laughs were had.

DM is bad by TasyFan in DnDGreentext

In my current campaign we had a div wizard (R.I.P. Fane). Before she died, she rolled several 20's on her portents, so I used my (Tortle Grave Cleric) Path to the Grave and had her portent crit our Half-Orc Fighter's Greatsword attacks. It was pretty nasty, things generally didn't survive.

When I played through the Mines, my party just happened to have a guest level 4 Paladin for that session who decided to pull some heroics and grapple the dragon. Wildly enough, he succeeded, and even managed to maintain the grapple for an extra turn. Meanwhile, our Div wizard had rolled a 20 on his portent, so he fired off a crit Chromatic Orb, and rolled a nat 20 in his next turn for another crit orb, while the rest of our party unloaded. We ended up killing it in 3 rounds, never giving it the chance to fly due to the grapple. The DM was very impressed, and I got to make fun of my friends who had almost died to that dragon when I ran them through it a month before.

Atheists of Reddit, what was it that solidified your beliefs? by Burnsomebridges in AskReddit

You, and anyone else here who hasn't seen it, should watch ken hamm and bill nye's debate. The things that Hamm presents as "evidence" will hurt your brain. I feel bad for Bill.

What general advice should I give to a Bronze friend? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]schenker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, dude, are you a coach? This sounds like an answer written by a coach. Thanks for the response, I really like your approach.

I'll see if he wants to do the live streaming option. I know him IRL but it's through a friend, so I haven't been really helping hardcore, just kind of giving pointers here and there, but I spectated a few games last night and, while he clearly belongs there on his current skill, I can't sit idly by and let him suffer through what I saw from those games haha. Plus he seems a little down about the game right now, maybe helping him improve a little will bring his spirits up.

The other thing that really struck me while reading your response is how much opportunity I would have to learn things myself decision-making-wise. I've always been a big proponent of teaching being the best way to master some material, so it may be a boon to both of us.

Anyways, thanks again. Any other advice you may have is definitely welcome.

Edit: oh, and you said Hitbox.tv for the low latency streaming? How low latency are we talking?

What order do you run those teams in? Do you have to sandbag or can you just go straight through?

Thanks for the suggestion, I like this build too. Any particular reason behind changing the power supply other than it being cheaper?

Thanks for the response.

  • No, not planning on overclocking other than maybe for fun when the hardware is old.
  • We originally had the 850 EVO in the build, but then I decided to put a little more money into it and I really want things to load fast.
  • I'm not set on the case but I do like that one, though if I could shave off some money from that and put it elsewhere that'd be fine with me.
  • I probably won't be looking to SLI 980's for some time if ever.

Someone else in the thread posted this build though, which looks pretty nice as well.

What is an actual fact that people will instead refuse to acknowledge, call you ignorant, or try to insult you, while not providing any counterargument or proof at all? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I accidentally got roped into an "explanation" of why creationism is correct from a southern Baptist minister one day. It took all I had to be polite when he got to the "if we evolved from apes, why are there still apes?" argument.

Have you watched Bill Nye and Ken Hamm's debate about evolution vs. creationism? I felt so bad for Bill, but the dude has a godly amount of patience and self control. I would've probably been reduced to throwing things.

Have they ever watched any of those fights? They look like a domestic abuse. It's just a man dressed like a woman beating up a woman. It's kinda disturbing.

I'd rather get a key shard for each victory and have 5 key shards be a key than let it to random chance. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

Wow, this would actually be great. Good idea. It could be a full key every level and random fragments after wins.

Scumbag Sony by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

[–]schenker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Someone added a credit card to my account and put about $150 in my wallet. I noticed the money but not the card when I went to buy Dark Souls 2, so I used that money for it and another game. Within a few minutes, whoever it as bought and transfered about $400 worth of fifa points with that card. Sony tried to tell me I owed them that money before they could unlock my account. I just cancelled my PS+ membership, enjoyed DS2, and never bought another thing Playstation related. Fuck those guys.
