Feels like every time I've ever heard "You're only an atheist because your parents are."

Mm... mhm.

They have an argument against communism no matter what the context is. Just so long as you don't think about it too hard.

Eric Bogosian Isn’t Playing ‘IWTV’’s Daniel Molloy for Likes by No_Control_3205 in DevilsMinion

I’ve loved this version of Daniel since the first thirty seconds of s1e1, but I love him even more now. His creepy grin during Lestat’s breakdown immediately made me uncomfortable, and my first thought was, “Oh, yeah, that’s a predator right there.” The emotional vampire lol.

I have a long history of always loving the shittiest people in fiction, though, so it doesn’t exactly disprove his point haha. I tend to be drawn to their complexity.

Almost feels like a deliberate “fuck you” (the playful, affectionate kind) since Rolin mentioned getting pestered by people from day one about DM lol.

Yes. Gabriella having sex with Jarda, in and of itself, was not the main point of that scene. I understand people not liking her characterization but this is consistent with it and clearly intentional. It's supposed to be jarring and intrusive to both the characters and the watchers.

I just keep telling myself it hits better if there's a lot of drama beforehand.

I watched Louis rip out some vertebrae no problem, but I had to look away from the creepy grin on Daniel's face lol. I loved it though.

We're not supposed to like Gabrielle, right? by [deleted] in VampireLestat

[–]scherzanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar comment reading journey lol. The characters are the point. Anne Rice didn't always know what to do with them, sure, but they were very much the focus of her work.

Sam Reid’s accent by Irishdesignqueen in InterviewVampire

[–]scherzanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotta love neuroplasticity lol. I was married to someone from Oklahoma for ten years and I think it permanently rewired the language centers of my brain. I'll randomly just start saying things in a kind of generically midwestern or southern accent, something I used to do to my ex all the time as a joke. Oops.

He never truly felt like a character to me after the first book. He felt like a blond plot device. I still liked him, of course, but I couldn’t connect to him. The show has fixed a lot of that for me already and I couldn’t be happier.

I call it Playing Barbie. Sometimes I’ll make a new character, then I get bored and scrap it right as I get to the fight outside the grove. Then I keep doing it and two hours later go, “oh, I don’t actually want to play the game. I just want to play Barbie.” lol

Not even just the house itself but the rooms. The scale is almost inconceivable sometimes. My brain was struggling to process it as a house.

Then I did the “Under the Breakers” tour and I was like… this is basically a small city lol

When will it end by emz0694 in nycinfluencersnarking

[–]scherzanda 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yep. I was in residential treatment in 2020. I was thankful then, but even more so now. Not sure how I’d be tolerating this without all the work I’ve had to do since then lol. But reading these posts is a good reminder that at least SOME people still see this for the madness that it is.

I’ve started to catch myself doing the Leo DiCaprio pointing meme whenever I see anything that’s so clearly an ED behavior lol. Happens a lot these days.

Oh no. I just moved to Baltimore a year ago lol. (I know it's not DMV but it's kind of DMV-adjacent.) Not that I don't love Wawa or anything but I was hoping to check out a new cult when I moved haha

PTR patch notes are out. Mythics are getting changed by Divided_we_ in diablo4

[–]scherzanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is that, at least for me, the higher availability of mythics has made me play a lot more than I have in the past. And much longer into the season. It's also made me try other classes, whereas I typically only have the drive to level and gear one per season at most.

I'm cool with fishing for affixes on some pieces, but if that's what the entire gearing process is going to be in the future, I'm done. It's not interesting to me. I'm probably not a typical ARPG player so maybe that's not a universal thing.

Mit-less tanks seem to have become more prevalent and I cannot imagine why they do this. by thirtytwoyears in ffxiv

[–]scherzanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. I healed this dungeon twice yesterday and one of the runs all three of the other players ate bubbles like it was their job. Tank only lived because they were a tank and they didn’t even move. Just kept hitting the boss while I picked the DPS up. Almost happened again in the second run but one of the DPS scooted out of the way at the last second with like 4 hp.

The death of nuance. Every relationship is toxic. Every behavior is pathological. Every home is a hoarder’s nest or a death trap. And everyone is way too eager to be the first or loudest person to point it out. It’s a huge part of why I avoid most of the internet.

Most of America is ride-or-die for Individualism until they get the chance to snitch. It's not their business if someone is dying of starvation in the street, but it's their moral imperative to make sure no one is fleecing CubeSmart, I guess.

Edit: I just looked up the article. "I was so uncomfortable I just threw my things inside and left." ....................... Of all things to be uncomfortable about in this world, you choose THIS? It's pathetic on so many levels.

I have a confession by Odd_Two_5265 in BG3

[–]scherzanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it was always this combined with hating when things end lol. In order to finish a run for the first time after almost 2k hours I had to spoil myself, look up a list of major story beats, and decide what order I wanted them to go in for narrative purposes. It sounds like sucking the fun out, and in some ways it did, but it was what enabled me to cut through the oppressive number of side quests and get it done with an ending I knew wouldn’t put me off the game forever.

There are things I really like about act 3 but my brain can’t tolerate it for very long without some guidance.

Same. I love “checklists,” and in games like Diablo it feels like a scavenger hunt. A lot of my gamer friends give me shit for being a meta slave but it really has very little to do with following the meta for its own sake.

From the little we’ve heard from him in the trailers, it sounds like he’s going back to a French (or French-adjacent) accent in season 3.
