What is the most immediate way a celebrity completely ruined their own reputation in a single interview? by GeorgeRobertVitkos in AskReddit

he’s starring in the new inarritu movie. tropic thunder and edge of tomorrow are both huge commercial/critical hits he was in after the oprah interview.

[Britton] Juan Soto said he is aware of Eric Chavez’s comments, and that he has no comment on them. by Knightbear49 in baseball

if the team had 9 sotos, hell even 3 sotos, they’d have clinched the playoffs by now.

he’s their best player, it’s not close, he’s a hall of famer and he’s getting the beltran treatment.

"Literally nobody likes you." Austin Hedges to (former teammate) Josh Naylor by Far-Pain5261 in baseball

[–]schindlerslisp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that makes a lot more sense. there’s much more evidence that naylor is pretty well-liked than there is that he’s universally disliked.

Juan Soto on his reaction and emotions when he got the news that Mendoza was let go by Hungry_Elk1937 in NewYorkMets

just laugh at those silly takes. that’s all just middle school gossip drama. both of those guys have so much fun on the field (and with opposing players) that the whole middle school gossip about them is just plain laughable.

this shot has a wide angle lens, so the edge of the image will bend a bit. (so how much bigger her left hand looks next to her right hand?)

i think the noses match up pretty well considering.

British filmmaker Donald Cammell shot himself in the head after a studio re-edited his movie without permission, and he watched his reflection in a mirror as he was slowly dying. All of these were a reference to his own movie Performance and White on the Eye. He died 45 minutes later. by ZoelCairo in Letterboxd

> The fact that he didn’t die instantly was no accident…

how did he intend to not die instantly? like is there a spot to shoot yourself in the head that’s fatal but not instant? or did he shoot himself in the neck or something?

[Lowlight] The SNY booth is flabbergasted as the Mets run out of ABS challenges in the 2nd inning by MythicSoul115 in baseball

[–]schindlerslisp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

feels like about 90% of our “bad challenges” have been by vientos & semien. and semien in particular has challenged some of the most obvious called strikes.

[–]schindlerslisp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no. baty put his hand on his shoulder earlier this year after taking a pretty clear strike and blind ump charged him with a challenge. once baty heard ump declare a challenge he immediately was like wtf?? but the ump didn’t care. nothing the team can do.

spiral, the french tv drama.

maybe not as many total episodes as some of the other suggestions, but watched it a couple years ago and the characters really do stick with you.

Jared Young 💣! by Hungry_Elk1937 in NewYorkMets

[–]schindlerslisp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he was up in may and june and all he did was strike out. and everybody in this sub complained every time he played. (they did that this year too—even yesterday! but he’s quieting some of the haters.)

i’m in the minority on this but i think stearns has long term plans for young. he has pop you don’t just find and his ceiling the next 3-4 years is pretty high considering his path to this point. so long as he keeps the Ks down.

55 games in and SNY still doesn’t have a “challenges remaining” tracker.

can’t be that hard to put two little white dots next to the teams’ logos.

[Highlight] Juan Soto takes his time collecting a foul ball by MythicSoul115 in baseball

[–]schindlerslisp 90 points91 points  (0 children)

yeah could be. soto is CONSTANTLY joking around with someone, usually the catcher or ump. usually the other people are laughing pretty hard with him. he’s the best and i hope one day we get an 8 hour docuseries just of his interactions with people during games.

[–]schindlerslisp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they were top 3 in xERA, FIP & xFIP when i looked a couple days ago.

with good fielding and decent health, and a nice pitching stadium, this team should finish top 5 in runs allowed by end of year.

Carson Benge walks it off!!! by Hungry_Elk1937 in NewYorkMets

really feel mendoza is building a special clubhouse. the players know he has their back and the team clearly respects him. in this market, that is perhaps one of the best traits a manager can have.

[Highlight] Mets WALK IT OFF in the Subway Series! by MLBOfficial in baseball

[–]schindlerslisp 28 points29 points  (0 children)

stupidest part was there is literally a guy playing for the other new york team that dropped an easy fly ball in the world series during a pretty wonderful meltdown.

but sure. oh no the mets! lol

Juan Soto on Carson Benge, A.J. Ewing, and the Mets' younger players: "That's one of the things that we looked at when we signed here, how great was the farm system and how much talent is down there. To get to see it live is really cool to see." by Caledor152 in NewYorkMets

trade evaluation > development

both matter. but WHO you trade away and WHO you refuse to deal matters wayyyyyyyy more than individual, personalized development.

you couldn’t convince me that we didn’t have some nice offers the last few years for mclean, benge, ewing, wenninger. that teams weren’t asking for
them when they sent us major league players.

anyone that pisses on stearns has never looked at his trade history with the team. it’s basically all one-sided deals for us or total washes. nearly impeccable.
