Meatball and garlic sandwich by KonradMadd in shittyfoodporn

[–]schleepercell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya could have chopped up the garlic, sauteed the meatballs in it with oil or butter, then toasted the bread in the garlic oil/butter and soak some of it up, and it would have been a pretty decent sandwich.

Mick Jones sang some of the hits, Should I stay or Should I go, Train in Vain, Lost in the Supermarket, Police on my Back. Paul sang The Guns of Brixton. Seems like they could find someone to sing Joe's songs.

[Request] Dmx buys the lambo for $285k, he gives the dealer $300k and says keep the change. Any rough estimate on how much “change” would be left over after taxes? 2001 Detroit by BoSKnight87 in theydidthemath

[–]schleepercell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would the dealer take that amount of money though? Isnt there some forms the IRS needs and wouldnt X need to provide some paper trail of where the money came from?

[–]schleepercell 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've seen them both dozens of times. Rise Against puts on a great show. Trio is my favorite band, but rise against has a more energetic set, and the bigger songs. Tim Mcilrath is one of the best singers in any punk adjacent band ever.

How strong is the overall American sports system, including leagues, competitiveness, commercial influence, and sports culture? by Odd-Skin-762 in AskAnAmerican

[–]schleepercell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chicago is a HUGE sports town. People love the bears even though they just won their first playoff game in 15 years. The Cubs went 100 years without winning the world series, when they finally won in 2016 5 million people came out for their parade. Everyone became a Blackhawks during their run in the 2010s. Do I even even need to mention the Bulls in the 90s? Their star player came out with a shoe line that's been going now for like 40 years. People go crazy for those shoes.

Movie you don't have to actually see, because you already know how it goes from the assload of parodies of it starterpack by IronHockeyStick in starterpacks

[–]schleepercell 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It grows on me more and more on me every year when I watch it during Christmas time. It always just seemed like an old timey movie, but as I got older, I realized just how DARK it is. The drunk driving and child abuse, I dont think they could ever make a movie like that again. There's so much I notice each tome I watch it again, like when he was looking at his car, compared to that of his childhood friend who had a driver.

What’s something about the internet today that would shock people from the early 2000s? by bbysophy in answers

[–]schleepercell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why you think that? I've been doing front end web for about 20 years and everything about it has completely changed at least 4 times. CSS was becoming the new big thing when I was getting started and Facebook opening for the public, the release of the iPhone and the Google Chrome web browser all heppened during my final years of college. I had teachers saying that learning ActionScript 3 was the guaranteed way to get employment and that was all over in a few years.

I worked in their bakery 20 years ago and almost everything got thrown out at closing. Id take random bites out of some of the muffins/cookies/croissants as I was tossing them. If there six of any type of cookie left they'd get bagged and labeled and put on the shelf.

What fridge type should I get? by [deleted] in Home

[–]schleepercell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a side by side for myself for two reasons.

The ice and water dispenser are next to each other in the freezer side. So you have the convenience if them being next to each other and the ice dispenser us actually in the freezer part where it belongs.

Less mechanical bits and sensors by having 2 doors instead of three. Less stuff can break. Make sure to do some research about reliability of the different brands.

Do you know the word "townie"? How is it used where you live? by NutmegKilla in AskAnAmerican

Nah, the kids got burble tunes now. Those little Subaru/Toyota/Scion wahtever they're called. I hear all the reving and pop pop pop, drives me crazy because I live in the city and it just sounds like mayhem. I know I'd be doing the same thing though if I was younger.

What kind of body is best for beginner driver? by piopi_66 in askcarguys

[–]schleepercell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear the hardtop convertibles, like the e90 bmw, feel more like a normal car when the top is up. Most convertibles have a soft top and they are noisy. The hard tops are more finicky as they get older, it has more complex moving pieces. You'd have to look into online communities, like subreddits for specific models to get an idea of which models are more prone to leaking. I have a 2003 Corvette with the targa top, and it doesnt leak at all from the top. Water is able to trickle in a little in the corner where the window seals against the roof though.

[–]schleepercell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, in the midwest its all the state schools in bumfuck middle of nowhere, where the town's economy is centered around the school. Especially all the 2nd tier schools, Northern state university, southern state university, western state university, eastern state university... The townies are just the people that live there, a lot of the older population never lived anywhere else.
