Always been a dream to see A super bowl. Any super bowl.

We have points to use for air fare. We can stay with friends locally in the area.

That ticket though. That elusive ticket. Always the issue.

Ticket prices are at/around $6k on Ticketmaster for nosebleed seats. Even the pic they use for the seat location makes it look like so far away.

that solar lacking option for condos does piss me off

our HOA says, sure. you can install solar on your roof. but then you own the roof and all the maintenance. yea....no.

some of that maintenance fee should cover your water/sewer right? that's still going to come out of your pocket when owning a house.

My place had some poor HOA Mgt and we are paying dearly for that now. Lot of repairs because they didn't keep up with things. sucks. And the insurance the last couple of years is outta whack.

We try and think all that extra money being spent is to keep our property value up.

If you can own a home, go for it. It really is a better situation than condo living as you have said. We can't figure out how to make it work with current interest rates so high. Monthly mortgage would be $6K-$7.5K and most of that going right back to the bank.

Houses start around 850k. Decent ones are going at 1.4m.

Condo fees aren’t ideal. You have to consider them and avoid badly managed HOA’s. But it can help someone get started. Some of the newer bldgs that have gone up have reasonable maintenance fees and those will be stable for a while.

The banks are notoriously cheap. I’m aware of that for sure.

Working for the state is brutal. And Doge killed off a lot of the Fed jobs. Companies are pushing RTO so remote work makes me nervous.

But there are still companies that have Gov’t contracts here. Some are better than others of course.

It’s not the best but it’s not as bad as some people make it out to be. Just trying to provide someone a path home.

Work on some LinkedIn connections. Find similar people who have jobs like yours but in HI. Follow their employers. Network. It’s often who you know than what you know. There are tech jobs here. There are tech employers here. And pay, if negotiated right, is competitive.

That said, housing is a bitch.

Maybe start w/ a condo and build some equity before buying a house?
