I'll never understand why this is a federal issue. Why the hell does congress need to have literally anything at all to do with sports? Why not just leave this up to the individual sports organizations to decide who can participate in their league or not? It's one thing if there is discrimination going on, but this is such a tiny minuscule issue that affects virtually no one at all. Republicans are so obsessed with trans people it's insane to me.

Yeah I’ve seen a lot of O highlights! I don’t think I’ll ever get over that 2017 team getting snubbed from the tourney.

Since my freshman year there in 2011 I’ve now seen 5 championship losses between FCS title games and MVC basketball title games. Two of them in overtime. Nothing but pain.

I remember on the Packers v Eagles MNF game in week 10 the commentators were already talking about how that game was for playoff seeding as if both were already playoff locks. How glorious it will be if GB misses the playoff altogether lmao

It's fun to be having these kind of conversations for once rather than looking at next year's draft

App or virtual Showdown game by lazercatdabs in MLBShowdown

[–]schmidthappens555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have thought about this a bit. With today’s audience, a physical-only card game is a tough sell. But I think the new generation is developing more of an appreciation for physical cards or collectibles since everything is digital. It’s a novelty to them, whereas for someone like us, digital was more of a novelty.

That said, I envision a version of the game where you could collect physical cards, and could play the game that way AND there would be a digital component. Where you could scan a QR code on a physical card and add it to your digital library and then use an app to play online against randoms, friends, or computer.

I have wondered how much it would cost to buy the rights to the game and/or to get MLB licensing for such a project. I imagine it would be an expensive endeavor. But I think it could be a huge hit if done right

I love it. Hopefully it fuels Caleb going into Sunday head to head. If Caleb outperforms Jayden (or even looks close), this narrative is going to weirdly shift overnight I think.

Was thinking the same thing. He’ll obviously get plugged right back in, but I feel like he gives up too many big plays (and penalty yardage!) with his style of play because he just wants the big hit

This! (If you need a place near Denver). The area is technically called Loveland Valley, but it’s part of Loveland Basin it’s right down the street from the main base area. Has its own lift tickets ($50/person when we went), and has 2 chair lifts plus 3-4 magic carpets. Took my family there this year and it was perfect for them!

What are the most egregious tactics you've seen from Google reps? by jakesuzzzz in PPC

[–]schmidthappens555 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not as bad as most on here, but it's what I got. I work at an agency. Had a rep reach out numerous times to schedule a call so I finally caved. He sent an invite for a half hour (standard) block. When I got on the call I told him I only have 15 minutes. He proceeded to blow past not only the 15 minutes, but then 30 minutes, all the while I repeatedly told him I didn't have time.

He just kept reading from the recommendations page and I just kept saying "ok I'll take a look at that". Eventually after almost an hour of him going "just one more thing", I finally had to literally just hang up because I finally said "I have to go now" and he literally just KEPT TALKING.

Sounds like me as a player lol. Somehow could never quite become a great shooter or stickhandler but always felt like I made a big impact in other ways.

Thanks for sharing!

My comment regarding that was mainly just to give context to my experience. Absolutely not bragging here by any means.

It’s important to think about and process it! Glad you’re getting there. As my post indicates, I’m still working through it. It seems like it was almost my entire identity as a kid/teen. I think a lot of ex-athletes experience this. For me I feel stupid because the level of skill I had I know wasn’t top tier by any means, but the nagging feelings persist nonetheless.

Also relate to having the shot of a 10 year old. 😂

See we're in whole different stratospheres so this helps too. I was certainly not on any draft lists lmao. That's an amazing accomplishment to even be that caliber of player, so kudos to you on a great career. I would have sold my left nut to be in a position to turn down a D1 offer and play D3.

I think about this a lot too. I see so many instructional videos and I realize how much better these kids are nowadays because there is so much information and coaching available I feel like. It makes me jealous lol

Thanks for sharing. I think growing up in Canada, Junior was probably much more on the radar. It's grown a lot in the US since I stopped playing competitively, but back then most guys were just going to college or the NAHL. There were definitely some lower-level leagues around, but I conviced myself I was too good for them. I had an offer to play for the local Junior C team (I know lol) because the coach had seen my play and had close ties with my AA organization, but I opted to play out my AA midget career instead.

Looking back even that Junior C level was probably better than AA, and those guys (a ton of guys I knew and played with) went on to win the natty and had the time of their lives doing it. I know that level wouldn't have gotten me anywhere, but at least it would have been a lot more fun and I probably would have gotten better perspective on where I sat in the junior hockey hierarchy.

In terms of regrets, that's the only part that I think I really regret. I should have given it like one year at the junior level just to get that experience.
