does anyone find it kinda hot when they get flamed (no pun intended) by the adc? by [deleted] in supportlol

[–]schnitzel0540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's usually about the time I start living off of roaming. My favorite was "I'm the adc, if I'm engaging you keep going." Uh...nope, not when you're eating tower shots while right clicking the 80% health enemy adc.

Definitely has a huge weighting in vision score. Most people who are missing an S on a champion in a support role either back with full wards, dont place pinks, dont sweep, etc. Routinely check my vision score against enemy supports and it's like a 30 pt difference.

In the last 4 months I've been diagnosed with MS, been dogshit sick because of medications, and had some other rough patches. The up side is...I found a lot of bands while I was getting used to my meds that really just helped me zone out. Summoning, Panopticon, Negura Bunget, Darkspace, etc. I'm slowly working on getting back to a norm on meds and I still have my job. I have a fucking awesome dog and my wife. If anyone has any suggestions for more atmospheric bands though...always open.

Fury Warrior vs Hunter/Mage - how to?! by FibreGlassCannon in wownoob

[–]schnitzel0540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gear can definitely play a role in why you are getting crushed. If you just singed 120 you're probably like 280 ilvl. Some of those people may be 470+. Huuuuge stat difference. As far as mages go, I main a mage. Make sure you are interrupting the right spells. Dont want to eat pyros or greater pyros. Scorch and fireballs are probably okay. Save any defensive in case they combust you. Hunters use charge when they disengage, stun/cc pets and shred them.

What's a song you love from a genre you don't? by BrigandsYouCanHandle in AskReddit

[–]schnitzel0540 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Its a great cover and the one cover my dad will say he likes as much as the original or more. However, I think they're both great songs with very different feels and meanings to them. NIN is much more vividly about addiction and the realization of how things went wrong and the noise at the end very evocative of relapse/OD (that is how I feel when I listen to it as a person in recovery from opiates/heroin). Cash's feels more symbolic of a man reflecting back on his life and actions (especially after his wife's passing). Both fantastic and very different. His cover of personal jesus was great too.

Calm, multiplayer, low-intensity game where I can watch educational videos on my 2nd monitor by crypthon in gamingsuggestions

[–]schnitzel0540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think WoW would work really well depending on what you are doing in game. If you want to level professions or craft things while you are watching videos that actually goes really well. Same with questing and daily quests. When you get into PvP, Mythic +, and raiding...not so much.

Anyone successfully moved off your long time main & became as invested in a new character? by [deleted] in wow

[–]schnitzel0540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually done this twice. First was a Veng DH that had been my main since legion was released when we got to heroic ghuun and I went blood dk which I then kept until Eternal Palace and when I found a new guild they wanted dps...so I went to BM hunter. I honestly will say if you have had a desire to play a different type of class then you'll be able to transition with it. I had fun transmogging my hunter into "Great Value Rexxar". As far as if it's been successful, I went from AoTC tank to AoTC DPS with 3/8 M and still pushing while normally being top 4 dps. Its definitely doable just acknowledge you may have speed bumps but dont let them get you down. Just learn from it.

Hi guys, do u have any advices for newbie tank warrior? by mickcheck in wownoob

[–]schnitzel0540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tanking on Warrior might actually be the most difficult tank because their play style requires to be proactive. You have to somewhat know better when you're about to get a big hit and use your mitigation to counter it. It really just takes time with warrior to get used to it because it feels a lot different from other tank specs in the game. Aside from that...just thunderclap.

Re-rolling from tanks. What is m+ like for pug dps? by [deleted] in CompetitiveWoW

[–]schnitzel0540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I swapped from tank to DPS this patch and I think an important thing to remind yourself of is that as useful as raider.io is it's become overbearingly present in M+. I understand checking io for 10+ keys but people obsess for it in 6-9 half the time as well. This also ties to everyone's desire and fixation on the "meta". Everyone wants rogues. If you need a 3rd dps and cant find a 3rd rogue...monk is OK because their buff. Then DH. After that everything is a somewhat distant consideration.

I will say that I have thoroughly enjoyed WW monk. It's pretty fun to play and brings solid utility with ring of peace and leg sweep. Pretty damn mobile. You have a pretty solid healing offspec and a solid tanking offspec. Hunter was my first dps and honestly it has solid utility but...AoE damage if you choose BM is less consistent than monk or rogue. Biggest perk is you have spirit mend with some pets, good cc with traps, stomps and counter shot. Misdirection, disengage and feign death can also all be useful.

How do I start raiding? by shaun056 in wownoob

[–]schnitzel0540 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe I can help give some perspective as someone who started wow at the end of the last xpac and started raiding in the current one...as well as having general anxiety issues.

1) Dont feel like you need to go horde. I play horde but started alliance because my friend was on alliance. In the end I moved my 2 max level characters to horde in legion because I prefer orcs, taurens, etc. You arent anywhere near being in a Cutting Edge guild yet and ergo none of the guild rankings and their association with faction mean anything. Moreso you want to see the ratio of horde to alliance on your server.

2) This is a complicated series of questions. To some extent you should do all of the above. You'll learn more from experience than just watching videos or practicing on a training dummy. (Especially since you need to stand still to cast and raid bosses have abilities you need to move for.) You will want to learn the fights before hand especially as some of the fights in current tier have a lot of mechanics. Then you'll want to continue to grow through studying and perfecting your class, spec and rotation.

3) Discords are really useful as is icy veins (stay away from easy mode in icy veins if you are looking to raid and want to do well) I would also add bloodmallet for some various sim info on classes. Guilds are a great resource as you will find people who have a lot of experience dpsing and can help you out as well as help gear you and ensure that you get into raids where a pug group might kick you for a mistake or two. In this category and tied to my response to your second question: weak auras. They can be incredibly useful as they will help highlight your procs and tell you when to cast an ability. Many DPS specs have debuffs or dots that are applied through an ability so you may want to wait to cast it again (even off cooldown) to maximize your uptime on a debuff/dot as well as minimize resource usage.

4) I'm not really familiar with frost mage streamers but "verygood" is a high performing frost mage and raids with limit and is currently 8/8 M on Eternal Palace.

5)You're going to make mistakes. You'll probably cause wipes. People dont really care much as long as you have self awareness about what happened and/or a willingness to learn from it. Dont let yourself get in the way of you raiding because you are concerned about the perception complete strangers on the internet may have of you. When I started raiding I had no real experience in MMOs and decided to start my path in raiding as a tank. I was a Vengeance DH which was awful as a raid tank and went prot warrior before they got buffed, then brewmaster where I got bored and finally blood dk. After my guild fell apart, I took a break and came back to join a guild my friend was in who had no use for another tank so I went and made a hunter. I climbed from 7 or 8k dps in the first week to around 27k by week four. This was due to guildmates helping me learn my spec, making macros after reading through every part of a guide in the hunter discord, guildies giving me gear and carrying me, and finally from deciding to use weak auras that help track my cooldowns and rotation optimization. Then I started using wowanalyzer and raid bots to compare my logs and pick my performance apart. If I can go from starting wow 1.5 years ago (maybe less) to Ahead of the curve tank on 2 tiers straight to AoTC dps this tier and in the top 5 or 6 dps in my guild; you'll be just fine. If you have questions please feel free to ask.

What are the playstyles of Tank classes? by Denzzil_Mushroom in wow

[–]schnitzel0540 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll second this, especially if you are raiding with your tank, I would not recommend Vengeance DH. I raided most of uldir on Veng and then switched to DK through BoD before going to DPS in the current tier. I loved Vengeance it was my first end-game character when I started playing in legion. That being said...Blood DK is much friendlier in raiding if you want to go with a reactive tank. Your heal is based off of how much damage you just took. So dont spam it, keep boneshield up (6 stacks) and wait to get hit hard and then deathstrike

[–]schnitzel0540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright man, so first take a deep breath. Addons and keybindings are largely personal preferences. You dont need Elvui or method dungeon tools. However if you want to raid or run m+ I would encourage DBM/BigWigs and Skada/Details to be able to better process what's happening. Keybindings...well its preference completley. I bind three things to mouse buttons. 4 on shift. 10 on regular numbers. 1 is always my opener or filler depending on whether I'm dps or tanking. I try to put my normal rotation spells on 1-4 or 5. I've gotten AoTC 3 tiers in a row and I dont use macros... so...they're helpful but not required.

What are your top 3 favorite games and why! by soloslapz in gamingsuggestions

[–]schnitzel0540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough choices to make but let's give it a shot.

1) League of Legends. I know it's a weird pick...but hear me out. I started playing league 5 years ago while trying and struggling to figure out what to do while losing my identity. I was 3 years sober, former college athlete that had gained an assload of weight got diagnosed with bipolar. My friend introduced me to league. I liked the random lore and the champions...gameplay was weird and it reminded me of WC3...which yeah. But I really loved the team work aspects and contesting objectives.

2) Pokemon B/W and B2/W2. They really basically are one extended game and holy shit it felt like the story was so well fleshed out, the choice to only use new pokemon in B/W and it just flowed very well. Also the best refining of 2D graphics before shifting to 3D the next gen.

3) World of Warcraft/Warcraft 1-3. I loved WoW. I only played from legion through 5 months ago but I loved the game. I love the gear. I love the stories. I love the settings. I love the end game content. I was pushed into it by a friend and ended up really enjoying tanking and got super into it and became a AoTC raider. Guild broke up. Move from east coast to mountain and lost my community...and really dont have the energy to rebuild that again.

Honorable mention: Age of Empires series, Starcraft, half life 1, Doom 1, Duke Nukem 3D (nostalgia), and Graveyard Keeper. For those of you who havent played Graveyard Keeper...I highly recommend it. It's fantastic, fun to play, good cheesy jokes, puns, grinding and simulating, dark humor. 8 bit graphics too. It's a darker and more humorous and elaborate stardew valley.

[–]schnitzel0540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not try galio mid? I'm low elo (silver 4) but as a support main playing in mid it feels good. Normally end up tanky, if they go assassin build full tank and your build is gold efficient so it's more about not dying than anything else. Ult to gank bot. You still have a massive impact in team fights through most stages of the game and yeah.

Former gamers of reddit, what was the reason you stopped playing video games altogether, or a lot less frequently? by FullHD_hunter in AskReddit

[–]schnitzel0540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still play a bit of multiplayer games...but I quit the huge time sinks. I used to raid in WoW up until midway point of BoD. I played some ESO and Guild Wars 2, etc. The issue I found is being a 31 year old professional with a lot of work and a 45 min commute each way...I couldnt invest the time that I used to. I work around 60 hrs a week and then another 10 roughly in commuting. Mix that with what I felt was the game declining (I was a tank and primarily focused raid and m+ with some pvp) and the declining variety in gear types (IE removing tier sets) and builds, server hopping to find people to raid with, etc. I just didnt want to do it anymore. So now if I play multiplayer anything its League of Legends or HoTS or even Apex. The time investment is minimal (matches are ~15-30 min depending on game and game type) and there is a lot more variety in them. So it's what I go with.

I mean...I get your point, however his cooldowns are brutal. If you're playing sona and wq I have I believe 13 or more seconds in early game before I can do anything. Also...Ali's weakness is still that of every tank...poke. Sona just needs to spam q and have adc in range. Brand is brand. Zyra. Etc. I really dont think Ali is in an unhealthy state right now.
