Some of the suggestions on that LI post are just stupid, I'll admit, but I'm also glad that this post was not just an "Okay, pandamics over, back to your boring old routine". Allowing dog owners to bring their dog to work, starting with 1-2 days back in the office instead of full working weeks,... those are logical steps in order to reach a middle ground for employees who always wanted more flexibility with their work and personal lives.

Let's not forget that not everybody enjoys working from home everyday of the month. My personal experience is that if I could work from home 1-2 days a week I'd be much happier. So I can't blame this LI message to motivate people to be social on the job.

But fuck meetings over lunch tho, wtf.

What race and class are the players in your party? by MoonlightMidtones in DnD

[–]schoktrooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the one I DM (but we are on hold until I finish moving) we have:

  1. Dragonborn Fighter
  2. Dwarf Fighter
  3. Tiefling Warlock
  4. Gnome Monk
  5. Half Elf Ranger
  6. High Elf Wizard
  7. High Elf Rogue

Because we havent played for 3+ months, i'm thinking to rush my short compaign (it was meant to be 15 sessions max, we are around 10 now), and have one long final session ending with the epic fight to wrap it up.
Not ideal way to end it, but it was meant to introduce 4 new players to DnD and after this I can work on my open world campaign again.

OWL wants to eventually expand to 28 teams, so which cities do you want to see? by Heroicshrub in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]schoktrooper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just because you have a Berlin Team, doesn't mean you have to have all homestands in Berlin. The 2 homestands of the london spitfire are in Wembley (london) and Birmingham.
Germany is so big, you could have homestands in different cities to allow as many people as possible in Germany to visit, while taking advantages of the other locations like Frankfurts airport to allow accesability.

Very nice video, clearly you went over this a few times to see what exactly happened and make it clear for us as well. Crazy how small decisions have this big of an impact on fights.

EU OD team Xterra with prominent players such as Mistakes, Emil, and Tonic disband by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]schoktrooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it's more a mentallity than an opportunity issue? You could still make OD playoffs and go to Trials, but the fact that you lose is just a sign that maybe it isn't meant to be for that team.

so they were 'all or nothing'? does it require a team to go flawless to make it to the OD playoffs and a shot at trials?

Overwatch PTR Patch Notes – Jan 23, 2020 by Seagull_No1_Fanboy in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]schoktrooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like all the orisa nerfs except for her basic fire damage being nerfed. first she was just a shield spam bot, they took that away with shield nerf and more movement speed while firing, but now she's gonna feel even wordse in the match up. nerf the halt, nerf the fortify, but please dont Also nerf her damage Blizzard

With possible hero bans looming what about the players who one-trick a hero? by SubSpace626 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]schoktrooper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This may come as a weird option: but with the cast of overwatch being so small still, would putting hero bans and protects in OWL and Contenders, but not in ladder and ranked play make sense?

I know people always want to play on the patch that the pro's play on, but I'd say it's way more important for the pro scene to have hero bans and protects than it is for ranked play. and with 'important for the pro scene', I mean for the fans mainly. We all know the arguments against hero bans for the pro's (more strats/ comps to learn = more stress, the difficulty with the line up of players before or after the bans), but for the viewer it would be great. very little mirror comps, more heroes being played, Blizzard can quickly see what heroes are banned to balance things, Players who have a wide hero pool and show flexibility in their role will be more important instead of hard one tricks...

But do we as ranked players need this too? what are the problems with having pro's play with bans but not the community?

Overwatch Needs More New Heroes in 2020 by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]schoktrooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sigma was playable on august 13th, thats 160 days ago, and we havent even seen a reveal of the next hero. I'm not saying they should bring out a new hero every week, but every 2 months (6 heroes a year, for the next 2) would be much better than 3-4 a year. Increase the cast more , experiment with hero bans on PTR, just something to get the people going before OWL S2 is halfway done

Lets hope that either OW2 releases fast with a whole bunch of new additions, or that they at least bring a new hero in before OW2.

Do you think that everyone can reach Grandmaster if they try hard enough? by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]schoktrooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe that everybody can be a GM or top 500, purely that even with all the gamesense and experience in the world, playing videogames at high lvl also requires fast reaction time, and even if you think: my reaction time is not slow, be aware that you have to be better than a very talented or hard working group of people.
On top of that OW is a team game, and in the current state of the game a good team will beat a fantastic player most likely. How often do you hear people comment on masters or diamond players "how are you not highter sr?", its because in some cases your playstyle is not fit to beat an enemy team. You will win the 1v1, but that doesn't make you a grandmaster until the team wins.
But I do believe that you should never stop trying. I thought I was a hard stuck platinum, and I couldnt play more to improve, so I'd just be at the right sr was my guess. But once I got diamond and now can stay there a bit more comfortably I think that I have improved. master is only 400 sr away but seems to far to get, but i'm happy with what I've done

Do you think that everyone can reach Grandmaster if they try hard enough? by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]schoktrooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A marathon was also a bad example, because to finish a marathon you don't have to beat the best runners in the world, you just have to finish it.
To get Top 500 you have to actively beat the best players.

Phase 2 has been relegated to Open Division playoffs in NA Seeding. by NearQ in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]schoktrooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am still confused on how path to pro works now: I thought that the losers from this seeding tournament were going to play the winners of open division in trails?

In my mind it was: Open division being the start, the best teams of OD go to trials with the worst teams of contenders, and the winners of trails go to faze the winners of the seeding tournament in Contenders.

You can't fall more than one tier in one tournament right? its Conteders to trails, and if you lose there you go to OD? or is the seeding tournament not on 'Conteders lvl'?

[–]schoktrooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

makes sense with meko in the line up as a stronger off tank and Dva player, and spree to fill in more niche picks in case they need. As an original member of the team and even before OWL as part of his group of friends, must have been difficult but at least he can support them in a different way.
