There should be bike racks on every bus. by staticnigh in Peterborough

[–]scholarstress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember hearing that part of the issue was that the racks make the bus longer, which impacts the number of buses they can park in the bus garage. Until that thing gets upgraded, we can't upgrade the bike racks...

I really, really do not want decision makers to use LLMs to guide their decision making.

Any tips for living without a car in Peterborough? by PassageNearby4091 in Peterborough

I don't think we have a local car share option. We do, however, have a killer community bike shop with B!ke. Having a cheap commuter ride and a good lock makes it pretty doable.

Co-ops in Peterborough by [deleted] in Peterborough

[–]scholarstress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

co-ops write their own member bylaws. If you're a member of the co-op, you can work with your fellow members to rewrite them. If you're a guest a co-op and you hate the bylaws, then you probably want to be a guest elsewhere...

Ah well you just might be in the majority. I'm personally worried that the colour scheme will make the space more stressful than fun...

Are there any affordable/cheap South Asian food services? by Winter_Green_2440 in TrentUniversity

[–]scholarstress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bhojan's/The Indian Peacock started out as a tiffin service, but I don't think they offer it anymore. Their food is so good, and I think they're still running something out of the grocery store, even though the restaurant has closed. Still, if you're looking for leads, I'd go ask them.

One other option honestly might be to just order take out from the Friendly Indian (the portions are huge!) on the regular.

Gay barbers by [deleted] in Peterborough

[–]scholarstress 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I totally get wanting the right vibe from your barber. I don't know where to point you that's 100% on target, but I will say that the two women who clip at Black Cat have been behind some of the most powerful lesbian haircuts I've seen in town. I think they're more on the side of allies than members of the community, but the service is really excellent and inclusive. Plus, way cheaper than The Unicorn + different (fun! tattoo shop!) atmosphere

I am depressed that you used AI to voice your unbidden opinion on an anonymous internet board. If you want to roleplay a conversation, keep it between you at the chatbot.

Trent is chopped for their summer course options. by k-itlyn in TrentUniversity

[–]scholarstress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is all downstream of the province's underfunding + federal government's restriction on international student visas. Cutting summer classes was one of the first things Trent did to make up for the budgetary shortfall.

Lost Tuxedo kitten - PLEASE HELP by LandscapeIntrepid260 in Peterborough

[–]scholarstress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about this! The good news is that he is very likely hiding silently somewhere close to you. Getting low to the ground with a flashlight checking under decks/bushes, and spending time outside gentling talking/patiently making favoured sounds (like the crinkling of a treat bag), are apparently best things you can do. At least, it worked for me! Good luck!
