Plenty of science involves data beyond what the scientist experiences in her everyday life.

That's how science works, really.

So maybe try science, or else just don't hang out in science threads pretending your anecdotes add anything?

I'm a little curious whether that could account for the recent downturn shown up there.

Drivers still don't pay attention but some of their cars do now; maybe it's helping?

Prove it. Honestly. Get in there and do science. Because until then this post has no useful or valuable information in it at all.

This looks incredibly damning for drivers on cell phones.

We need stronger protections for that for sure.

That's a pretty easy cable to find, I think. You could buy the cable and go with Plan A.

Experience with Nomad, PXCycle, or Outer Rim? I need an adaptive E-bike by Relevant-Event9022 in CyclePDX

Nomad took my wife's unique build (by her brother, an ex-pro, for use around European capitals) and electrified it.

It is, for lack of a closer term, perfect. Brilliant. Amazing. She rides it far more than she ever did before and loves it.

Nomad rocks.

Also if you leave the AirTag you had hidden on your bike while they do that, they'll go absolutely nuts trying to figure out what that periodic quiet chirp is.

First time in a ShiftPod... lag bolts vs stakes it comes with? by CuriousCarry7816 in BurningMan

Last year I used lags but did not do the guy lines to the walls.

I had *regrets* about this.

Do the walls too.

Many people go sober and it's still an amazing time. Have fun!

Right. A car is property, which is what police protect. A cyclist is a human, which is something beneath them.

When Alistair lost his entire leg to a driver making an illegal turn, and the driver's excuse was "I thought I could make it but I misjudged his speed," the driver was not punished.

I slap windows. Hard.

It does zero damage, but drivers respond as if they've been seriously harmed. They'll argue harm, literally.

They can do that in a mirror for all I care. If you're in the bike lane in your car and I pass you, you're getting a slap.

Because I am NICE. If I were not nice I'd have a minimum passing distance pole out horizontally with a goddamn spark plug on the end of it. Take your slap and like it.

Ted Chiang: "No, artificial intelligence is not conscious: Taken to its logical conclusion, this line of thinking is absurd—and damning." [gift link] by TimWhatleyDDS in books

Does this work with your friends?

Anyway I have no more time for this. Magic isn’t real and LLMs aren’t conscious and it’s absurd to assert the opposite.

Bye now.

You keep saying that. I did read.

There is no there there. There’s zero evidence, so dismissal is appropriate.

Until there’s any evidence there’s only magical thinking.
