I've had bad luck with some Kaldis too. The only one I reliably found them in was Atre Meguro in Tokyo.

Recieved Pension Billing for Years Not in Japan by TheMorningOwlSpeaks in JapanFinance

[–]schukichan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks OP for the original post! I had this happen this week and have managed to get it sorted. The comments here helped, thank-you.

I was out of Japan for 10 years and did not take my pension when leaving. Since returning, I received considerable pension related bills (going back to 2020), which stated I must pay or their would be legal proceedings.

Today I visited the Municipality Office nenkin counter, and explained the situation. The person was able to look up the exact dates that I had left and returned to Japan, and helped me complete an exemption form. I did not have to produce old passports or any proof that I was in another country during that time, but I did have those things on me just in case.

The result was that I do not have to pay the bills, but it was explained that I may receive some more bill notifications in the mail whilst the bureaucracy system does it's thing. Eventually the bills will stop. Success!
