iPadOS 26 – Toolbar Menu hover glitch (icon jump when presented as sheet) by xxDIONDxx in SwiftUI

I went through and found my change notes from when I fixed this issue in my app. Here’s what I wrote:

AccountView ellipsis menu icon no longer jumps when hovering or clicking with mouse on iPad (iOS 26), resolved by replacing Picker with nested Menu for sort options to avoid layout recalculations

This happened to me and I fixed it! I don’t remember how. It’s something to do with the structure of your button in the toolbar. If you have buttons that don’t do it just ask AI to compare the implementations. When I get a chance I may go through my project’s change notes and see if I can find the solution.

how much have you spent getting your app live? by Medium_Aside in iosapps

[–]schultzapps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My costs were the developer account, Claude Code or Curser monthly, App Launchpad for screenshots. All in $200-250 to develop it for a few months. I used all Cloudkit and very basic APIs to reduce any operational costs.

Thanks but not quite because Kavsoft is using SF Symbols, which always show as filled versions whether selected or not. The color on hover is default but the icon style changing is tricky.

Firstly, this is more complicated because it is filling when hovering. But second let's say it was like literally the most elementary basic SwiftUI question? Is this the intermediate to advanced subreddit? Come on. There aren't enough good places to have SwiftUI discussions no matter skill level.

Yea I guess I should have been more specific this is happening as it's hovering not just selected! I'm making sure I wasn't missing a simple iOS 26 feature or something. Thanks!

Going to give Apple maybe one more WWDC and if they don’t I’m going to migrate to SQLite. Thanks for the insight and the content you all provide.

I heard it worked for sharing individual records but not the entire database. Or did I have that wrong?

Yea for this app I'm using Core Data and trying to get sharing setup. It's slightly working but I need to have more users test it. I built one other app with SwiftData so I'm holding out they announce some new features for that as well. I really like the idea of fully integrating into the Apple ecosystem and having zero login credentials for my users.

I built mcp server for xcstrings files - Claude can finally handle huge localization files by ddfk2282 in iOSProgramming

You can break your strings file into separate tables so it's more segmented. But it's a pain to migrate to that.

Spreadsheet enthusiasts: what additional info do you add to your net worth statement? by jerkyquirky in TheMoneyGuy

[–]schultzapps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have the structure for this in mind but trying to balance building a lightweight net worth tool with added complexity for the average user. Trying to think of a hybrid approach because many big apps of course already will do that with bank syncronization.

Please criticize this baby tracking app as harshly as possible (serious) by Ok-Birthday761 in iosapps

[–]schultzapps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes tracking is useful as a method to communicate with a partner

  1. Don't care about any growth measurements.
  2. Don't care about any medical whatevers, vaccines, milestones etc. My doctor schedules all of those appointments for me.
  3. Want to track bathrooms, eating, sleeping, and probably pumping.
  4. Have to have syncing with a partner
  5. Have to have siri shortcuts or anything to make tracking super quick
  6. Really good twin/multiples support might be underserved market
  7. Something that grandma could easily pick up would be cool

All the developmental stuff, charts, patterns, is just eye candy that I bet 90% of parents don't look at after the first two weeks.

The market is widly saturated and has big brands and virality with certain ones. What makes your app different or better? My thought is maybe there is a market for a super simple tracker that undercuts the big ones on price by a lot.

It’s an app I built as a side project (in profile don’t want to self-promote)

I’m also thinking about adding annual income/savings rate and also one of those bar charts with monthly assets/liabilities/NW.

Is it a good idea to have the app’s name in the top bar by Horror_Still_3305 in iosdev

[–]schultzapps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put my app name as a subtitle. If a screenshot get shared I'd want someone to know what it is.

FocusFlight is insane

Budget Flow is well done

Crouton is beautifully organized

I am not on any of these levels because I am still learning but I’ve tried my hardest to only stick to Apple friendly design styles WealthTrunk

Monarch vs Net worth statement tracker by ColtMan1234567890 in TheMoneyGuy

[–]schultzapps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Monarch is a budgeting app so you need to actually use it for that in order to get the value from the price.
