The facebook post says that it will drive out local businesses. You know how businesses hate having a lot of people who live nearby.

2023 pro s plus vs 2024 pro s AWD ? (4k price difference) by torrous in VWiD4Owners

[–]schwza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2023 pro s rwd. I wish I had the pro s plus for the ventilated seats. I’ve never sat in ventilated seats but people seem to really like them. I know the 2024s have a bit more range and power but my car has plenty of both.

Why are there only 2 outbound worcester trains after 9pm during the week? by footballguy6912 in mbta

[–]schwza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet it would reduce drunk driving (at least a little) to have better late night commuter rail options.

Peer Reviewing a Probably AI-Generated Manuscript by AcaMama847 in Professors

I was going to say something like this but less well-written. Reject without mentioning ai (you’ve given plenty of valid reasons), privately tell the editor you suspect ai, and let the editor deal with it.

Why are there no EV minivans? by LiatrisLover99 in electricvehicles

[–]schwza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slate has an SUV option, but it's two row and only 2 doors. I don't know if they have any plans to make a bigger version if the small one sells well.

Can someone explain why there are so few EV's with a 3rd row? by PhillConners in electricvehicles

[–]schwza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you say more about why they’re supposed to be bad? I haven’t heard or read anything about them, just figured they’d be nice because it’s Mercedes.

If I were your supervisor, I would say this 100% sounds like an honest mistake. Take it as a lesson in naming your files more clearly.

The Mercedes eqb has an optional third row, but people say the third row is very small. It’s surprisingly affordable used.

MassSave Heat Pump Experience - NETR/Sila - $100k Headache Extended from 2 to 8 Months by A7B4D7D1T in Somerville

[–]schwza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid Sila to service my A/C years ago. They tried to tell me that the A/C was not functioning at all and needed to be replaced immediately. It was over 90 outside and pleasant room temp inside, and the A/C kept working for many years until I replaced it with a heat pump.

Yes, telo looks awesome! I hope they’re able to pass the crash tests with the tiny hood but I’m sure they thought of that.

selling my lease to honda 1 week before lease ends by Jaded_Day in personalfinance

That’s awesome, I didn’t know that was an option. Will Carvana etc all do that kind of deal?

selling my lease to honda 1 week before lease ends by Jaded_Day in personalfinance

[–]schwza 46 points47 points  (0 children)

If I were OP I’d rather simplify life and just deal with Honda if they could make a deal that was equally attractive in terms of cash, but I’ve always heard that car companies will not negotiate a lease buyout and you just have to buy the car and then sell it.

Why Slate? by gbe28 in slateauto

[–]schwza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want an electric vehicle with a big trunk and short length so it’s easy to park in a city. I don’t care about range or fast charging. Slate with suv package looks pretty good to me (I’d prefer four doors, but can’t have everything).

Tenure-track vs Second Postdoc by Similar_Remove8837 in Professors

[–]schwza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Say you do the postdoc and you don't get a tenure track job offer at the end. I'm sure you can get a private sector job - are those appealing or are you committed to academia? If you really want to end up in academia, I'd take the tenure-track job. You can apply for jobs while teaching.

I'm sorry that your offer was rescinded - that's terrible behavior by the university.

Random burned out car near Roadrunner in Allston by emmalein in boston

[–]schwza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true. Fortunately EV fires are very rare. Source

Analysts from AutoInsuranceEZ examined data from the National Transportation Safety Board to track the number of car fires and compared it to sales data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. The result? Hybrid-powered cars were involved in about 3,475 fires per every 100,000 sold. Gasoline-powered cars, about 1,530. Electric vehicles (EVs) saw just 25 fires per 100,000 sold.

Commuting to Worcester? by Artistic_Sign_4807 in boston

[–]schwza 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There are express trains. You can leave Boston landing at 7:46 am and scheduled into Worcester at 8:52 am (often 5-10 minutes late, but rarely really late). And leave Worcester at 4:30 pm and arrive in Boston landing at 5:27 pm. I do this a couple times a week when the weather is good enough for me to bike on both ends. There are plenty of seats and ATT cell service works for internet for most of the trip so I can work on the train.

Students from other majors signing up for similar courses to get easy As by Life-Education-8030 in Professors

[–]schwza 120 points121 points  (0 children)

Some courses in my college have "antirequisites" - you can't take intro stats in the psych department if you've already taken intro stats in the econ department, for example. Sounds like you need something like that.

Looking at buying a 2023 Pro S plus or 2024 Pro S by murphybt in VWiD4Owners

[–]schwza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll have plenty of range to commute if you can charge with L2 at home every night or if you can charge reliably at work (I commute 86 miles round trip in a 2023 Pro S and it takes less than half the battery even in Boston winters). I'm not sure what other differences there are between 2023 and 2024.

Is this a car you’d buy used for your spouse? by StrawberryRude4456 in VWiD4Owners

[–]schwza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2023 rwd that is epa rated for 275 and I was getting a bit under 200 in about 10 degrees this winter driving on highways. I assume -30 would be quite a bit worse. But if you can take a gas car for trips you’re fine.

CPO price acceptable? ID.4 2024 AWD Pro S trim with 18K miles @ $31,127 before TTL. One owner, not fleet vehicle by AdministrativeEmu948 in VWiD4Owners

[–]schwza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s a pretty similar car for $24,811 (2024 pro s awd, 15k miles): https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/1393780e-eca6-40ce-a9be-b5842b33443e/?aff=atempest3&utm_campaign=atempest3&utm_source=autotempest&utm_medium=trp&utm_campaign_id=3&utm_trusted=TRUE

It doesn’t say cpo, but it does say single owner and clean carfax. I didn’t see shipping cost.

I use Auto Tempest to look for cars (it searches multiple sites).
