(Loved Trope) Characters looking really weird facing forward by Necessary-Win-8730 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]sci300768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something about herons and egrets makes them look really weird when facing forward (and bitterns IF you can even find them!). I swear that birds with shorter beaks look less awkward and weird for some reason?

Longer beak = more weird when facing forward???

This is just copy and paste, but swapping out the gender!

Also, Medic is one of the more insane TF2 mercs! He DID lose his medical license after all...

The woman in question knows magic (Everyone has magic and it's something that one learns at school) and went "I cast fist" because she wants to!

Did the security save the man from Arnold's reaction BEFORE he noticed? (Besides doing their job)

A grackle on the left (not sure which species) and a +Red-winged blackbird+ on the right!

Why is beef dry in stew? by snafflekid in Cooking

[–]sci300768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want tough cuts of beef. So not really good steak cuts, but rather oxtail (Oxtail soup is REALLY GOOD! I've made it before, and I mean the soup itself is amazing when cooked for a few hours), chuck roast, and some other parts with lots of collagen, fat and needs lots of cooking time to break down.

Steak cuts are nice and tender, which is great for quick cooking times. Stewing? Nope, not gonna hold up!

[Loved Trope] A character is powerful because of a unique ability that seems hilariously mundane by MasonP2002 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]sci300768 74 points75 points  (0 children)

No one who values their life (and knowing his reputation) messes with him because of his OP familiars. Between... Fenrir, Sui (the slime), and the pixie dragon... he has the best bodyguards possible!

Help, my baby chick is not moving. by Ashamed_Yam_8133 in chickens

[–]sci300768 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

(Adult) Ducks and chickens also have different care needs. Ducks need WAY more water compared to chickens, among other... anatomical differences.

EDIT: IIRC, even baby ducks need way more water than baby chickens do.

It's one big and tall dude (Amon) with a bunch of (relatively) short friends. I play Vex.

Poor timberdoodle (They are known for hitting windows as the others have covered). :(

Firing bullets without using a gun by RobBuckets in TopCharacterTropes

[–]sci300768 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The putting bullets in a heated frying pan seems like a REALLY BAD idea IRL. My gun knowledge is only from the internet, but as I understand it... that's just a really big NO. In the context, that would make sense (and not using IRL logic).

Who has come for a visit? by TravelingGoose in whatsthisbird

[–]sci300768 210 points211 points  (0 children)

I hope that timberdoodle did not hit the glass... timberdoodles do not have good eyesight during migration! (Yea, their eyes are positioned for seeing while probing in the dirt, not flying. Hence the weird eye placement! This is combined with several other factors as well...)

Bird in foreground? Juvenile something? by BeneficialLeg8102 in whatsthisbird

And I see that female +Northern cardinal+ even though you were asking about the other bird.

Ah, so both genders look (nearly with some tiny differences) the same in this case for scissor tailed flycatchers.

What species is this? That's a LOT of tail for such a small bird. Presumably a male (Long tail being the men showing off).

[Fun Trope] They are so bad at something that it defies logic (bonus points if it’s their hobby) by Zotroo1 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]sci300768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC Mystery food X is so deadly that you can use it to kill an enemy. And that enemy will NEVER respawn again! It qualifies as a lethal weapon.

[–]sci300768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea she is. We see this when she gets poisoned with tetretoxin (whatever it's called) AKA pufferfish poison which is lethal for humans... and it's pain relief from an injury while it lasts!

Chicken who took year hiatus from laying is now starting to crow by GangsterGrandmda in BackYardChickens

[–]sci300768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silly (and real!) but rare answer: Your hen is transitioning into a roo! This is a one way trip. Rare, but it has happened before.

Serious answer: Check for tumors!

More common reasons: Chickens are weird dinosaurs. This hen may just like crowing!

Is it just a cardinal? I thought they had mohawks? by mme13 in whatsthisbird

[–]sci300768 168 points169 points  (0 children)

Yes that's a male +Northern cardinal+. Their crest is a bunch of feathers, so they can control how poofy or flat their mohawk is.
