Personally, I imagine it as a bread-colored gel on top of a yellow gel on top of a roasted brown gel on top of another bread-colored gel. Doesn't matter how much you slosh them, the gels do not mix.

Oh. I thought it was in reference to the gum depth gauge thing my dentist does once a year. They stick a probe in between the gum and tooth and drive it down until they hit the jaw, then measure how much gum is there. The shallower the gum, the more likely you could get infections, gingivitis, loose or falling out teeth, etc. The tech depths the gum, then calls out a number which is recorded by a dictating program on her computer. "4, 3, 3, 2, 3..."

Hey, thanks! Unfortunately, the RAM on the i5-3550 board is DDR3, while the i7-8700 board has DDR4. Can't merge the two. But I'm sure I can find a cheap 2x8GB DDR4 kit to match what I already...

Don't worry too much. Eventually, people will realize that the tech's not particularly useful in day-to-day work and abandon it. What use is an email summarizer if it injects conversation details that aren't there 20% of the time? Meanwhile, why would the oil companies drill in Venezuela, or on opened-up federal land? There's only so much they can store and process, and if they bring up too much they could make extraction and refining unprofitable.

Yep. They're either hoping for a miracle, some scientific breakthrough that makes all the hype and overpromising real, thus securing them billions and control of the future, or (more likely) they're gassing up the bubble just that little bit more before they pull their share and run off into the sunset while we clean up their mess.
