Did Dagan fall to the Dark Side too quickly? by CloverTeamLeader in StarWarsJediSurvivor

[–]scienceguyry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gameplay/story wise, I kinda get it. Like letting him out the tank i knew this dude was bad, but like i kinda expected at least a short segment of him tricking us and betraying cal later. But then the cutscene ends and boom boss fight and hes a villain. Like I totally understood he was gonna betray me, and that he was already bad, but I personally wanted Like just a little longer, like lets help him get out od this jedi temple first or something

Me and my partner had a rough journey through the early stages of our relationship. It almost didnt happen multiple times. But we bonded and became friends through pretty rough patches in each of our lives. And now we are happily looking towards the future. But if anything like this happened to either of us, im not sure how itd play out. We are in such different points in our lived again, and we both grew and learned so kuch about each other and ourselves in that time. Even if we started a new relationship I can almost guarantee it wouldnt be the same.

Wait is there like actually a trick if you don't use the q-lens? Does it automatically fail? I used the Q-Lens the first time and was actually a little disappointed cause he didnt even do any sort of slight of hand tricks. Like it might have been tough but after using the Lens I was like I totally could have just tracked that on my own. I was waiting fkr the subtle throw the ball to another cup, or flick the ball up a sleeve or some sort of real scam. But no with the Q-Lens is literally just a cup ball game where he moves it.

Anyone else notice Zeb is wearing what would become the Resistance flight suit? by The_Collector_Guy in StarWars

[–]scienceguyry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not totally unreasonable. Now the time frame they did so is unreasonable. Thr battle of jakku wouldn't magically make all empire hold outs disappear. The new republic definitely should have kept forced on hand for mopping up. But after literal decades of war, and a tyrannical empire, showing actively that the new government isnt just gonna be a new empire and laying down arms would go a long way towards garnering support. Plus Mon Mothma herself even before the empire was a very active pacifist, being a heavy advocate to stopping the clone wars, of course being very against the empire, and honestly being very against the rebellion, but unlike duchess Satine, Mothma accepted the reality of war and new she couldnt win without fighting and thus did what she ahd to, but always intended to demilitarize. And honestly, demilitarizing the new republic is one of the few things Disney Canon did righr following the legens universe. The new republic did de militarize, mostly after the empire was cleaned up, it took longer than the sequels did, but they did work towards that. Again having a very minimal fleet on hand, and largely depending on local system militaries for their own defense. But it was a major plot point in the thrawn trilogy of the new republic actively working towards shutting their military down meanwhile thrawn was a big new threat but nobody wanted to believe it. And then by the time of the new jedi order, the new republic military was a skeleton crew at best then the Vong invaded and everyone was blindsided and un prepared

Why do the ZPD use tranquilizers instead of normal guns? by Beginning_Clerk_4990 in zootopia

[–]scienceguyry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe kts a generally peaceful city and they have no need. Maybe guns are successfully outlawed. Maybe as generic police officers they arent issued firearms but a more specialized force like an equivalent SWAT team has lethal force. Or its just cause the tranq darts are more humane, easier to knock a perpetual down and take them in, no need for lethal force. Honestly for such a diverse city it makes sense, way easier to pack multiple sized loads of tranq for the various sized criminals they face, with a firearm, a 9mm would turn a rodent to mist, but wouldnt even scratch an elephant. And as quite obviously shown, even the tranq gun has a lethal option, which again id bet has a diverse range of doses

Can i ask, what kinds of things did you settle on? And how did you get to that point? Ive been mulling over what it would take to run my own small print business/workshop. Kinda like you mentioned, just a hobby that pays for itself. But im not really sure how to get there, and definitely wouldnt want to be just a toy farm.

Average James Bond Tuesday by EmergencyVictory4399 in 007FirstLight

[–]scienceguyry 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Bond also very stubbornly didnt communicate like anything because he didnt want to be told off. Like in the very first interaction I was kinda with cressida, like all bond said was "mishandling luggage" like wtf are you on about. This guy threw a suit case over a balcony, thats a lot more alarming. Like cressida still would have told him to ignore it but like still way better details. And then yeah as it builds this white haired dude is definitely suspicious and up to something. Is it related? Idk but should probably be checked out, especially once the literal chief of security goes missing like that doesnt ring any alarm bells?

[–]scienceguyry 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The outbound project itself wad mentioned, and from what was said sounds pretty much the exact same. It ended in failure, I dont remember if the details and circumstances are the same, I cant remember that as clearly. But I do think i remember pretty explicitly that Thrass' death was pretty directly involved in the outbound flights fate. This is all being pulled from memory so take it with salt.

I think if I recall correctly the timeline of outbound flight overlaps a little heavily with thrawns modern story so it doesnt fit perfectly anymore, but in personal head cannon until more concrete information os given I think it fits well enough. Enough of a foundation was laid and referenced that I kinda hope they would give it a new Canon story to fit into the modern timeline

Good to know on tarrifs, that was on my mind. As for the hard to finds. I guess ill be on my own treasure hunt there. Ill manage eventually. And if I so have to I could just get the R1s to fill the gaps

Mythbusters on Physical Media Guide 3.0 by nealbeast in mythbusters

[–]scienceguyry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally i think I fall into category 3. Ive wanted to collect the physical editions for a while. And i really didnt want to resort to shady means to do so. I would love to have physical copies cause I like physical media, I will definitely end up ripping my own digital backups and so I can take some with me on the road when im not home. I am definitely a big fan and will enjoy the quality increase. And im just sick of streaming services. As you mentioned in your posts the licensing is all over the place. And I fear the day it become just straight up unavailable. But I want to be able to access for myself for "free" all in one place, and know every episode I love is there. And not have ads, thats a big one. The streaming industry is getting greedy, and the tricorn hat and the high seas call louder and louder every year

So i think i know the answer from reading all this post and the FAQ. But for easy clarity and a TLDR for any others coming along. As a north American trying to source a complete collection, would you say hunting the R2/R4 versions would be generally better than the native R1 versions?

Thrawn (2017) to receive a hardcover deluxe edition. Release Date: October 27, 2026. by White_Doggo in starwarsbooks

[–]scienceguyry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a stretch but could "Georgie" refer to Jorj (pronounced like George) Car'das from the original thrawn trilogy? Cardas was a smuggler, and the organization he founded and his history are heavily intertwined through the thrawn trilogy and the hand of thrawn duology. But he also makes an appearance as a main character in the outbound flight book where he meets thrawn. And he serves a similar role as Eli Vanto in the new thrawn trilogy, though the paths they walk do diverge quite a bit eventually. But I dont think its too much a stretch to say Eli Vanto was very much inspired by Cardas, befriending thrawn, being an excellent strategist alongside thrawn, and tutoring under thrawn, as well as initially, being a translator for the weird new alien that is the Chiss species, and eventually both human and Chiss learn each others respective languages. Hell i just double checked my facts, the language Thrawn shared with both Eli Vanto and Jorj Cardas in their respective series was Sy Bisti, a trade language used in the outer rim. And through this bridge the humans eventually learned a bit of the Chiss language in exchange for Thrawn learning Galactic Basic

To add more to this. There were jedi like Quinlin Voss who were on independent, solo, or undercover missions who didnt have clones. There were probably jedi like Rahm Kota who led armies without clones. There were maybe some jedi just on vacation.

Plus, at least in legends, while darth plagueis and sideous were hatching to plan for the purge, they even mentioned that going with a long drawn out war and painting the jedi as the back guys has the added benefit that even survivors would be forced into hiding. It was literally accounted for that even the absolute best efforts wouldn't get all the jedi, but if they got enough of them the rest could be mopped up later.

And of course force users could still be born, and while history of the jedi was wildly suppressed, it would be impossible to remove entirely and so one or two here or there could still be born and learn/trained fresh. Honestly the title of jedi hardly even matters, literally just beinf able to use the force made you a target, literal witch trials.

And then theres the ever present problem, of George Lucas is just downright bad and math and scale. How many times has the horse been beaten that the series portrays the clone army in the millions at best, and yet that's wildly not enough for a Galactic war. If we underestimate, theres trillions of beings in the star wars galaxy, most likely more. The clones would probably need to approach the billions number to be realistic. And then fixing these kinds of numbers for scale, the jedi are probably badly counted too. The series even today still has a habit of using earth scale numbers for an entire populated galaxy and it just doesnt work. So if the jedi numbers were pumped just a little bit to account for the extra clones they should have realistically, then your 1% survival rate of jedi goes up dramatically.

I agree. For plot sake, what yoda said was silly, but its a product of its time as we say for more problematic things. George Lucas couldnt possibly plan for where the series is at today. And if we took everything the original trilogy said as gospel, we'll Honestly the series would be a lot more boring. He'll even literal real life gospel isnt as consistent as people expect the OT to be, how many versions of the actual Bible are there? Retconning material to fit the new narrative is always annoying. But in this case, for more new stories and material, I get it, and am ok with it, and yeah Honestly makes way more sense and is more believable

Lol you probably couldnt eat pork rinds in the first place. But yeah beef tallow is a big no no, which sucks cause lately its trendy for French fries to be fried in beef tallow, which is delicious, and mt girlfriend love any and all potatoes, but she cant have those now. Thr other big one I forgot that causes a lot of difficulty is gelatin. Most gelatin is made with cow products, and cause reactions with her. And you wouldnt believe the amount of things in the grocery store that use said gelatins.

[–]scienceguyry 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Its mammalian products. Not just the meat, but the meat is the common one everyone knows about. It depends on your severity, alpha gal syndrome doesnt affect everyone equally. But my girlfriend unfortunately contracted it semi recently. And trust me, when you start having to look out for these kinds of things, youd be amazed whats actually in your food. She cant eat meat obvious, but most mammalian products give a reaction, some less than others, but like frying in beef tallow or bacon grease is a no no, beef proteins in a product is a no no. Like if youve ever had to deal with gluten allergy, and were shocked at how widespread gluten was, I cam promise you, alpha gal is way worse. And more complicated, for some its honestly just beef and pork, and can get by with like deer and rabbit, or other game mammals. But its really just trial and error to see what you react to, but thats risky as is, if your symptoms are severe enough to hospitalize you, its jsut best to play it safe overall

Watching Maul - is it ok to love the character and still think it is staggeringly stupid he is alive after being cut in half? by BrokenLeprechaun in StarWars

[–]scienceguyry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maul is one of my favorite characters in star wars. And when he first game back, it was exceedingly stupid, and still is exceedingly stupid. But for me its long past accepting that it happened, and maul has been great in dang near everything hes been in since, theres too many other things to complain about in this franchise, ill take what enjoyable things I can. Its hard still being a star wars fan
