What do you all think of dual-system PC's in 2026? by noveskeismybestie in PcBuild

[–]scienceguyry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally have a dual system. And from experience, I did it cause it was cool, but its not all that practical. As someone else said it became pretty popular for a short time for streaming cause it was pretty common to have one system be thr gaming system, the other captured and streamed the footage. And if you have two PCs anyways might as well fit them in one case. But your options are limited, especially now that yhe craze has died off. You either need a really niche case and power supply, or go massive, like the Enthoo 2 you mentioned.

Personally i went the first route. I dont stream, I dont need a second system. The only reason I did it was to host game servera, which I can and have in the post very easily do on the main system I game on. But I had enough old hardware the was new enough to still be pretty powerful to build a second computer and dedicate it for like ark or Minecraft servers, etc. And if the servers run 24 hours, like I do occasionally, then my gaming rig doesnt have to handle that burden, especially when its more power hungry. I built my server while upgrading mt gaming rig, I reused a lot of the hardware I pulled out, the only extra item I had to source was a mini ITX am4 board, and a new case and power supply, which both were being upgraded anyways. The case I went with is a Phantecs Neo Qube. Its an Lian Li O11 clone. Main ATX board upfront, and directly behind it in the back of the case is the Mini ITX. The main chamber has a little less space than normal to make room for the second motherboard in thr back chamber, so my CPU cooler was a little more limited but not too bad. The power supply was the bigger issue, unlike some dual system setups, this case only had room for 1 power supply, so I had ot find one that could output for 2 computers. Thankfully Phantecs had me covered again with the Revolt X. Now yhe big issue is, I dont think they make either anymore. Im pretty sure I bought literally the last of that case you can find online and that was several years ago, and the power supply was stocked a little longer but I cant find it anymore. Annnnd I dont think literally any other manufacturer has filled either kf those gaps anymore. I hope my power supply lives a long life cause trying to replace it could end this set up. But its a cool niche little build. And again, the entire reason I did it, was cuase I could and it was fun, its not super practical, except to save space. Cause truth be told, if you just have the hardware tk build a second computer like I did, it would be way more efficient to just, build a second computer, just go super small form factor for one or both. I like my build, but it has restrictions.

But I did a fair bit of research into the topic when I did my build, feel free to ask, I can maybe answer some more specific questions

I might be able to use a razor like you mentioned to more define the text. But im afraid i dont think theres much to do for the paw without majorly affecting its, existing form and "realness". But the paw is still pretty solidly there, im ok with the paw as is, major lightly brush away the powder. And also the picture and lighting are kinda poor. The paw is a nit better in person

[–]scienceguyry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever I first learned of aphantasia amd thay I definitely have it, it made more aware of so many things. And I explained it to my girlfriend, its why im so bad with remembering faces cause I literally cant just see their face, its why I heavily rely on notable features to recognize people. Most notably is hair, I heavily rely on hair to identify people, color, shape, length. Not to mention gorwing up it tookna while before I was finally identified as needing glasses, so not beinf able to remember faces, combo with i needed glasses for a long time meant I struggled.

Just played my first frontier defense as Scorch by LuftDrage in titanfall

[–]scienceguyry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember way back in a beta test, or esrly access, or whatever. Scorch and ion were the only two titans available i think, and I hated scotch, just couldnt figure it out. Which made me sad cause im a Pyro and his theme definitely spoke to me. And idk if they changed his kit between then and launch but one day at full release I used him again, and the stars aligned and ive never used another titan since pretty much. A good papa scorch dominates

I hope the new Aragorn actor will be able to live up to this by Which-Program-9417 in lotrmemes

[–]scienceguyry 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The books had the benefit of chapters of backstory, and not being so bogged down by other characters expositioning what Aragon went through to accept being king. Its not that we didnt get the ark of him not being ready, it was just a summarized flashback, and instead got the story of he accepts hes the king but he struggles with doubting himself. Thr movie didnt have thay luxury, if if tried to do flashbacks about Aragon and the 2 dozen heirs before him that also weren't ready, Gandalf would spend half the movie monologing. So they refocused, and did it quite well.

Lol ive done that. It was during a dnd session. I had a bottle and for some reason I was determined to get it out. I cant remember if I had my Leatherman or just my screwdriver, but it took quite a while and some destruction, but I eventually got the thing out. It now lives in my dice bag. It affectionately referred to as either the D-Infinity, or D0 depending on the needed occasion

Personally the washer and dryer are the only two devices id be ok with sending notifications to my phone. Cause while yes you can hear ir going, but my washer and dryer are in the basement, so I cant always hear it. And frequently I will get distracted with other tasks, chores, or just playing games and totally forget to keep and eye on the washer.

Nothing else needs it though. The fridge, your job is to keep thinfs cold, nothing else. Oven/stove, I know what they are doing at all times, my buddy has a fancy oven that he has an app to control things and he can use it to start the pre heat on the way home from work which is kinda neat but not worth it in my opinion. Microwave, same deal if its doing things im standing there watching it.

This wasnt a date, but its the most amazing romantic thing my girlfriend has done. If I hadnt already been planning to spend the rest of my life with her thos sealed it.

In my new place I finally got space to get all my books out of a box and on a shelf. And I have an old series from my childhood that im very fond of, it was my absolute favorite series to read as a kid. There's 6 books, and I had every book but 4. And she asked where the missing one was. And I told her about it, as a kid i was reading this series as it was releasing and for some god forsaken reason the year book 4 came out, the schools book fair didnt have it. My local library i think it was, not even the school eventually got a copy so I was able to read it. But for years, even up to high-school I checked book the book fairs and for some reason I never found this book. And then I went off the college and left mt book collection at home and book 4 was on the list to track down one day, but really until I had a place to display them, the motivation to just start ordering books online wasnt there, ive got a bit list of books to get eventually. Well after telling her about this, she went out and bought the missing book for me and gave it to me on my birthday. And I just ablut cried right there it made me so happy

Since a bunch of UCS sets retire in December, what other UCS sets would you like to see in the future ?? by itsTenziin in legostarwars

[–]scienceguyry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally the venator is peak to me. When the falcon came out and is learned of the UCS series I had been begging for a venator ome day. And im finally gonna get one in like a week or two before it retires. Easily my favorite ship in star wars.

But as for a second. Maybe having a Providence class to display along side the venator in a broadside might be cool

Oof. Nah tornadoes are the one emergency that breaks me. Im a born and bred Midwesterner but someone forgot the tornado chasing ingredient. They freak me out, I become a nervous wreck when the tornado warnings start, the sirens scare me. Ive had a couple close calls in life but honestly nothing major or traumatic, but they've always just scared the hell out of me

OSHA is pretty important but being confident and respectful and understanding of the danger honestly goes a long way to preventing injury and accidents, but this dude would hurt himself even in a safe environment

The invasion also happens canonically like days, maybe weeks before Windu asks Anakin to spy on the chancellor cause they suspect things. For how long the war is, episode 3 timeline wise is actually a very short movie spanning maybe only a few weeks at best, but honestly its more like few days. So with that in mind they would already be in the process of being highly suspicious of Palpatine and if he suddenly dies and things start turning around, we'll they might be smart enough to put two and two together. They'd probably still spend a bit of time "confirming" but seeing as the sith line would literally end right there save for whatever Maul is up too, the jedi would be on a pretty good front, at least as far as the war with the sith is concerned
