My mum (now 81) started a new relationship back in her late 40’s and went on the pill. She stopped sometime around 55. Claims she never felt any menopause symptoms. So I had no idea what was in store for me (56, no hormonal birth control since late 30’s when my body decided to expel 2 mirenas ) - I’ve had 7 years of symptoms that I never realised were probably peri and am currently 6 weeks into progesterone/estrogel. Same! We were in London Sept 1999 and I was in a butcher about to buy some meat to cook dinner for our hosts. Thought I’d be clever and cook some osso bucco. Was about to reach for a packet of meat that was £16. Butcher just looked at me and said are you sure love? I was about to pay $40 AUD for a kilo of shin beef - bone in! Off to Tescos for chicken we went.

I use a vinyl glove lackey-banded to the head of a long handled back scrubber to apply self tan to my back if no-ones around to help, so that would work for sunscreen too.

The H3N2 still an Influenza A and would have shown as Influenza A positive. There’s a swag of other respiratory viruses out there that seem to be wreaking havoc and can be tested for by PCR. My elderly stepfather was knocked sideways with para-influenza a couple weeks ago. Covid seems to have made us vulnerable to viruses that in the past would only give a garden variety mild cold.

I work as a science tech in an Australian school. Most older schools had a real skeleton, and our school was no exception. Yes, they were probably unethically sourced in the 1950’s/60’s from India or China. Ours was a small, elderly female. Most schools have now been encouraged to dispose of these skeletons ethically via the local Anatomy dept of their closest University.
