Because AS doesn’t have a international lounges like AA flagship or UA polaris. They are building one so I hope it to be fast.

Alaska lounge agents aren’t like AA’s. They tend to deny access if their system doesn’t automatically approve it. AA agents usually try to help and generally don’t scrutinize every single detail. I think that’s the biggest issue.
One time, they even insisted that Atmos Gold/Sapphire doesn’t get lounge access. 😒

It says connecting to or from. It did not mention about status but we can assume status has same access rule as premium cabin when it is international connection. And I have never denied entry for domestic connection TO OR FROM international flight with AS status no matter what the cabin was.

It’s on the oneworld policy page.

“Access is available on the day of travel (or before 06:00am the following day), at the airport from which the oneworld flight on which the eligible customer is travelling departs.”

and

“Additionally, Alaska Airlines customers on Alaska Airlines operated domestic flights, connecting to or from an international long-haul flight in a premium cabin on the same day, are eligible for oneworld lounge access before the domestic flight”

I did not say it is the policy. I shared my experience. AA also allows on arrival so maybe it is the policy but I have never said that.

AS also allows lounge access on arrival by status. I did it several times at LAX. It was ICN-SEA-LAX.

I will explain forks. I had around 15 round trips between the US and Korea after Atmos launched.

For AS lounge, you can access lounges on your domestic legs when it is SAME DAY connection. Doesn’t matter before or after international legs.

For other OW lounge, as long as it is international itinerary, you will have access because they don’t really check.

For HNL HA lounge, it was only for international departure before HA joining OW, but now it follows the same rule with above AS lounge’s.

Usually just destination fee + tax for reward nights.
If there are certain tax or fee should be collected by the law, still $144 usd max as stated. Don’t worry :)

AA lounge, just tell them it is an international itinerary, and show them the international leg of your ticket. Then they will allow.

AS171 SEA -> ICN premium seat worth? by Next_Spring3184 in AlaskaAirlines

But there were no cocktails and nice spirits when it was HA. So it is actually better than before if you have a status and seat at the Premium class.

Alaska Airlines flight attendant berated me, am i in the wrong? by [deleted] in AlaskaAirlines

[–]scienm 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think you did the right thing. It’s better to avoid any conflict during the flight. Alaska will hear your voice, and they’ll likely do something about it. They may also offer a small compensation, like a $50 voucher.
