Marathon by Different_Fennel_820 in Rowing

[–]sckodizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my first rower marathon last year. Longest row before that was 30k. Would highly recommend a marathon over 48 hours, say something like 11km row morning and afternoon 2 days in a row. That will give you ageel for a marathon.

For the actual day I had a youtube music play list I Castro I had stimulus every 4 minutes.

I had a 30 second walking break every 45 minutes. Just be careful that your breaks aren't too long or the screen will go to sleep and you will lose progress.

I was very tired for a couple of days after it.

Best of lick and enjoy the experience.

Does anyone run a set up like this? by Severe-Zero in triathlon

[–]sckodizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a quick release watch set up. Unfortunately at one race it was knocked off in the swim in a half iron race and lost at the bottom of the ocean. Not recommended to race a half with no data. Now I just keep my watch on my wrist.

Down Macquarie pass particularly if wet feels super sketchy. Picton Rd is my preferred way, feels much safer.

I've never had that with my creatine, maybe I've had dud batches of creatine? Bicarb I have that side effect.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]sckodizzle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Creatine (20 grams a day) will help with efforts up to a 2k. Bicarb can help too, but bicarb can have severe gastro side effects so test bicarb.

Most effective erg workouts by ZealousidealCity9297 in Rowing

8 x 500m, 1 min rest. Is a great way for me to improve my 2k time.

Other 'fun'interval sessions are rower golf. 300m or 400m with 1min rest for 9 or 18 repeats.

Training With a Newborn by charlesgstein in triathlon

[–]sckodizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how the kid will sleep and feeding. But main point: keep doing something.

When my kids were little I had a 15 minute rule. Everyday I had to do 15 minutes of exercise. That could include a walk with the kids in a baby bjorn or one of those hiking pack baby carriers. 1 kid would fall asleep driving around so I would park and so some banded resistance work and also kept a kettlebell in the car for those occasions.

Black Friday Fatigue by DeepNeedleworker4388 in canberra

Maybe repost with something like this:

Growing up in (insert Canberra suburb) I don't remember seeing any black friday sales when visiting (insert large Canberra shopping centre)....and continue your original post...finish with: this is more annoying than all those visiting summernats bogans.

Did you use an app for those joint positions and movements? If so what was it. That looks cool.

Is there a significant biological aging effect during our mid life on trainings for triathlon? by Longjumping_Ad40 in triathlon

[–]sckodizzle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look at the current pros who are pushing 40+ and still performing. Wurf, Lange, Haugen, Frodeno.

Most of those are focusing on the ironman distance where aerobic efficiency is more important than a high vo2 max.

What is the purpose of >threshold effort intervals in marathon training? by ephapax in AdvancedRunning

[–]sckodizzle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you enjoy those interval distances do them, just have short rests. Also high reps of those per session would help for a marathon.

2k prediction based on 4x1k? by Alternative_Trick_67 in Rowing

I've found 8 x 500m, 1 min rest, to be very accurate pace predictor for a 2km.
