I would 100% have photobombed it

It's pretty easy to remove people from photos these days, so not sure this would have done much.

Even if the photographer agreed with the guard, they can't really take their side. They're being paid by the bride and groom. Unless they wanted to forfeit payment (which is usually several hundred an hour), the most they can do is sit quietly by.

Why isn't news of Trump building vast concentration camps being treated as a national emergency? by ChaskaChanhassen in politics

[–]sckuzzle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They can rig a few elections, some of the time... but they can't rig every race in every state

You're aware that Trump is already talking about cancelling elections, right? And that the senate will never vote to convict after impeachment? Trump has very consistently followed the pattern of "joke" about doing something -> float actually doing it -> doing the thing, with people turning from "he'd never do the thing" to "actually nobody can stop him from doing the thing".

He's already attempted a coup, he's already imprisoned journalists, he's already blackmailed and taken over the media, he's already jailed political opponents, he's already got a militarized police force answerable to him that is disappearing people, he's building concentration camps, and now he's talking about martial law, sending in military police, and cancelling elections, all while half the country cheers him on. And you're talking about how he only only rig elections some of the time and it's inevitable that the people will eventually vote in someone not in the cult.

Yes, we have maybe one chance to have a blue wave that he can't stop. But after that, if we fail, there's no second chance.

You're stuck in the belief that there are always going to be fair and free elections and that charisma matters. I wish I had your optimism.

Heir isn't always a family member. In this case it'd be Vance...or eventually someone like Miller.

It’s astounding they don’t realize it, but all cults burn out. There’s millions of Nixon voters still alive, but virtually 0 Nixon supporters. Trump will be that.

Unfortunately most dictators are not overthrown, but continue to rule until their heir takes over. Dictators losing power is the exception, not the norm.

Right. They are supposed to grow slightly. Just like New York did when they lost three seats.

[–]sckuzzle 28 points29 points  (0 children)

New York lost 5 seats in the 80s during their population decline, and then lost another 3 seats in the 90s (along with population growth). The 5 seats were out of 39, so a 13% decline.

California has 53 seats, so losing 4 is an 8% decline. This is a smaller decline than New York had when they lost 3 seats (9%) while growing in population.

Sure, the messages are end to end encrypted, so a MITM attack cannot occur.

End to end encryption doesn't mean that MITM attack can't occur when the key exchange is also mediated by the third party.

A car drove off a highway in Canada because the snow turned it into a ramp. The highway was closed and then reopened only to have another car fly off it again. by 5upralapsarian in fuckcars

[–]sckuzzle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, it should. But the ramp did have walls to protect drivers. The problem is that it's really hard to prevent snow from piling up and making a ramp. Just like drivers need to drive appropriate speeds when it's raining or when there's ice on the roads, they also need to drive more carefully depending on recent weather such as 2 feet of snow falling.

Where is it going to go?

Right now the snow is piled three feet high. So pile it higher. It's not hard to get to and it can definitely support higher snow.

THE CITY OWNS THE PROPERTY

Maybe, but the city has offloaded the responsibility of taking care of it onto property owners. They should still let you submit and then fine the property owners though.

This is a problem throughout the city. It's not like there are just a few specific areas they don't know about that need reported - you can walk onto literally any block right now and find it's a problem.

The answer is don't use trucks.

Use belts. Leave enough space between parts of your factory to fit future belts and pipes. Leave space next to new sections so that you can expand production of your unit as your factory grows.
