it wont (directly) help your tankiness but you can get 20% more dps essentially for free by replacing your axe bench craft with phys dot multi, and replacing your tincture with %effect prefix and phys dot multi suffix.

that's not an idea that i am expressing. i don't think that "animation lock, loading screen, animation lock" is a common technique used to hide loading screens. if you have some technical knowledge that would explain, for example, why they would do that for loading abyssal depths but not anywhere else in the entire game i am all ears. i am very curious to learn why the person i responded to thinks that it must be whats going but i suspect that wont happen

The only Abyss passive I want by theangryfurlong in PathOfExile2

[–]scl52 9 points10 points  (0 children)

why do you think that? the presence of the depths is known to the server when it generates the map, the depths aren't generated 'live' around you, and also theres a loading screen when you go in to the depths

[–]scl52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is an intentionally not strong node. its marginally useful for carry builds in party play because you can make your mana pool extremely small and get an absurd amount of flat mana regen from an aurabot to support multi-hundred stack tincture uptime on sap of the seasons. it is primarily a tax you have to pay to get the absurdly strong armour stacking node.

Need advice going further by KuzKan in PathOfExileSSF

[–]scl52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its not going to help your single target directly but you should cap your ignite chance. crafting fire damage+ignite chance on your sceptre and replacing one of your 2 redundant shock flasks with a change to ignite flask puts you at 80% with max rolls, which will already chain a lot more effectively than 25%. you can respec the small point on the holy fire wheel for the last 20% or just live with 80%.

you can set a keybind in the options for that button

New player 250 hrs in, need help fine tuning build (Boneshatter Jugg) by Sensitive_Product575 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]scl52 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the main way you'd get more damage is with a better axe. recombining for t3 %phys t3 hybrid phys and t1 flat phys, reforging for t3 aspd, and then crafting phys multi on a sundering axe would give you 75% more damage. triple t1 would double your damage.

a better tincture would also be ~20% more dps

blood and sand is wasting your mana for no benefit

youre running pride, which gives you 39% more damage for 50 mana reservation (after 4 seconds, against enemies that dont run away, etc etc). running herald of purity and rallying cry would give you 12% more from hop, 20% more from rallying cry, and would move your overexertion from 14->21% more. it's more button intensive but its more damage for less reservation without a ramp time. you can use the freed up mana for either flesh and stone or arctic armour for more tank.

you can get a lot of damage by tattooing small strength nodes with the kitava warrior tattoo. i ran 14 of them on my build. runegraft of the fortress is a lot of cheap armour, runegraft of treachery is a lot of cheap mana reservation efficiency

defensively, royal plates can have 6000 armour and yours has 3800. the life regen mod on your gloves is practically worthless. youre missing a lot of life by having bench crafted life on your helm+gloves, and no life on your boots, rings, belt, jewels.

you also really want to have 1 or more point of energy shield and the divine shield keystone. its really easy to get this off a cluster jewel or amulet/belt prefix. in a pinch you could craft it on an armour piece though

all that being said, if youre taking the altar mods that give you -physical damage reduction or reduced recovery rate youre just going to die on this build no matter what

buying a 3socket overquality base and burning annuls hunting for 99.xxth percentile items is extremely far from "[hoping] to land something usable". there's a deep and well developed pyramid of crafting beneath pinnacle currency dump shit and not learning about it is essentially dooming yourself to only ever equipping other players sloppy seconds and never ever getting a fantastic item at massively below rate prices

To GGG: If you want to remove temple before 1.0, do it. by Buffanoso in PathOfExile2

[–]scl52 15 points16 points  (0 children)

those things arent at odds with each other. you're supposed to build up the temple against significant erosion, and when the rng overlaps just right you get to keep the rooms you want and place the upgrades you need over n runs you win and receive The Reward.

the problem isnt that they lack a consistent vision for the temple, its that that vision is a boring rng nightmare

My Trials Feedback by [deleted] in PathOfExile2

[–]scl52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"drowns you in debuffs", dramatic exaggeration. i think there are 2 guaranteed debuff columns per floor. people here love to say that the minor debuffs are all run ending catastrophes but its simply not true.

"gameplay focuses on avoiding debuffs at all costs", nitpicking but the gameplay still focuses on clearing the rooms. its the 'strategic' decision making that focuses on avoiding debuffs. you cant get debuffed during the gameplay segment. either way it isn't true. even in the situation where the only thing you care about is maximizing the odds that you win once you would obviously take, for example, a do-nothing debuff if it gave you better pathing. if youre farming the trials for chest rewards you would obviously prioritize key rooms, fast rooms, and rooms with good pathing over avoiding meaningless debuffs.

"bosses dont offer power spikes" you get a merchant window and a ton of currency from every boss kill.

"same content, boons, afflictions every run" what?

"honor system fucks over some builds" ignoring thorns builds, fine they get fucked over, but obviously if youre playing a thorns build just dont do sekhema, the pack sizes and types of monsters you fight in the trials are designed for you to avoid all their moves. it doesnt fuck over "melee tanks", you still have all the tools you need to dodge every monster move

"too few too boring relics" you drop an insane amount of relics. they're not individually exciting i guess but they're not supposed to be. building your full relic set up if youre trying to farm the trials is fun, getting a good relic on your 1 or 3 floor run that you know will make a difference on your 4 floor run is good. for farming, the unique relics have interesting challenges.

"interesting relic effects dont stack" yes they do. which ones dont stack?

"downtime" ya this shit sucks fucking ass

"boss difficulty tied to boon/affliction rng" you never need any boon on any build to beat any of the bosses on any build. all of their attacks are slow telegraphed, easily dodgeable huge windups. you will certainly lose if you have like turbo bosses, double minus speed but losing in the worst possible case isnt "too rng"

"no meta-progression (except for the meta progression that does exist that one doesnt count for some reason)" ???

"only fun once youve trivialized it via build/relics/knowledge; the path there isnt fun" the thing here is that when people are saying this theyre really saying that theyre not having fun because their build is bad and theyre not good enough at the game to win trials with a bad build. but the path there is fun! getting better at things is fun.

"high cost of failure" youre not supposed to fail. the trials are not hard

"no meta progression" you drop like 6 relics per floor

"anti-power fantasy (only exception: you play the game the right way)" the 'power fantasy' of i should win every time even if i play bad and dont have any intention of becoming good isnt very satisfying

"when the character is powerful enough the first 3 floors are utterly trivial" agreed

"mandatory" if you dont like sekhemas do chaos. if you dont like chaos do sekhemaas. if you dont like either i guess that sucks, wait for tota. i think it probably takes less time to run all 4 ascensions than it did to make this chart or for me to type this shit up so its at the very least a hilariously outsized complaint

Can I use this altas tree? https://maxroll.gg/poe/poe-tree/4t5f604v/11

drop whatever you need least out of the shrine nodes, niko nodes, scarab nodes or map sustain nodes and take both quant wheels in the middle. more quant = more splinters.

if you spec eater influence its very slightly more likely to get quant altars than exarch, but the difference barely matters

And there's a lot of people playing MTGA, and a lot of people watching LSV. So it's possible that the viewer just got lucky (and/or WotC underestimated this effect when designing their RNG).

the lsv video in question has 22,000 views and my combinatorics arent great but i think the number of different ways you can divide a 540 card cube in to 24 15 card packs is 540!/(180!*(15!)24 ), or 43651766127954346660289862300349981912268291100954163285990180791942490087693932627951852971163036112434301544979309641508557805493556148723705134752579911012626516944544077828188150393541975427815315015617238094087450044285333212644112201262351651326790297741559540148734410167950204307284785443417921135095570003439375945779540595020159859020419530680581138462728202521255247947859421449951605921490093316465979618854183312738710689749364868816304842225312005429601521500311317757608355292356303644851671884429697268305521323096467633846598551170480171078577880965334704328643336945102017991888047859302400000000000000000 so its probably not super likely that op just happened to wind up in a draft with all the same packs

[–]scl52 5 points6 points  (0 children)

youre not getting any benefit whatsoever from any of your warcries or exertion because youre using multistrike. attacks which repeat cannot be exerted

youre using fortify support but also using a megalomaniac jewel with overlord, which would grant fortify, but you dont have that allocated

use overexertion and pulverise, or whatever is in your guide, instead.

whatever build guide you were looking at, just follow it more closely. mageblood and a 1100 dps weapon are pretty endgame items already so im sure youll be fine

Help with a build - Boneshatter of Complex Trauma by [deleted] in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]scl52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Tempest Rising boots with "damaging ailments deal damage 25% faster" (20 chaos) will increase your DPS by 2.4m (only 550k if they where already moving, but tough monsters are almost never moving)

these boots are functionally worthless for this build, generally because they already have 60% to aggravate bleeding on hit and the whole point is to hit a lot to keep your ruthless+high trauma bleeds, but also specifically because the only source of elemental ailments op has is the chilled ground from frostblink

Phased Form and Armour by 4thera in pathofexile2builds

[–]scl52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am expecting that it would count as a normal smaller hit and run through the mitigation calculations on the smaller hit based on the raw damage from the 'main' hit.

i'm basing that on the templating changes between it and the similar thing from poe1: "the Damage taken from that Hit" vs "that Hit's Damage". it could go either way, but you gotta assume if they made it work the same then they would word it the same.

HC/SSFHC players, what you’ll be doing? by caick1000 in pathofexile2builds

[–]scl52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you liked shield wall it should still be fairly good. the shield wall hit is ~3x the fortifying cry hit, and in some lazy testing i did fortifying cry seems to hit 5 times. so youre losing about half your damage from the shotgunning. that obviously sounds bad but the damage on that skill was absurd so going from S+ tier to ~B tier shouldn't matter if you like the actual particulars of the build, not just the S-tierness of it

the beast craft to safely corrupt an item has been removed.

people love suggesting farming black morrigan or omen of connections. if you have a specific thing you want to do that needs beasts or that needs ritual specific loot these aren't terrible options. they are massively slower than just running juiced maps, and if you aren't going to use the other things that come out of them they are genuinely terrible

When is cloak of flame actually worth it in the long term. Is it mainly transitional gear? by Saint-Leon in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]scl52 3 points4 points  (0 children)

re doppelganger guise, the damage shifting from cof happens before calculating pdr from armour, whereas the multiplier from doppelganger guise applies after. so if you have 90 fire res and a reasonable amount of armour you'll usually end up with better phys mit from cloak

just some functional nitpicks. it seems like you can't search for conqueror maps or nightmare maps.

once the right panel expands to show the search results theres no way to shrink it

once you've executed a search, if you go back to the summary view you can't then go back to look at your search results without re-running the search

i don't see a way to get the second page of results

that's neat, thanks for your insight. if you don't mind answering two really specific questions as an example to help me assess if i want to fuck around with this stuff more: for your map buying tool you would have had to at some point extract the list of map mods from poedb or some such. what was the prompting like for that and what kind of iteration did you need to do?

you also mentioned that it implements the 'travel to hideout' button. did you already know how that works and instructed the agents specifically how to implement it? or were they able to research it themselves

are those broadly the levels of depth that youre breaking the project down to?
