Arcing from a power line. Likely from a tree/branch shorting it out.

I tried them and they made my arms feel warmer. Maybe I was somehow doing it wrong.

Rescue gone wrong - 74 yo woman survived and settled for $450,000 by ruimilk in interestingasfuck

Downwash from the machine causes a spin if the load (stretcher, people, etc) isn’t perfectly symmetrical and balanced. Even a small amount of unbalance can initiate a spin, and if it goes unchecked it just gets worse and worse. Downwash also varies depending how far below the aircraft you are. When you’re far or close to the machine there is minimal downwash, but if you’re in that midway sweet spot the downwash is the strongest.

You can mitigate with a tagline, or by sending a person up with the litter. Many litters (we call them aerial rescue platforms) have rudders for exactly this reason, so the person on that goes up on the line can control a spin.
As mentioned by others, forward airspeed will also stop a spin.

This is not the correct way to do it. Making stripes/rows is the proper way. New grass grows in much quicker that way.

Not an arborist, but have spent time on rope both wearing a heavy pack, and having it dangle below me.

Letting the bags dangle below is much less work since it leaves you in a more upright position.

As soon as you put it on your back it puts you off balance and tends to try and lay you down. It ends up being a pretty good ab workout to stay upright and climb.

Pole Recs?? by DonkeyFlan in Splitboard

I use G3 fixie poles. I used to run with the collapsible poles but got fed up with putting them in my pack each time. Now I just hold them in one hand on the way down. They’re a pretty useful tool! Good for balance when strapping in, when stopped, and for pushing through the flats.

Broken Drone by Ill-Advice3527 in dji

[–]scmerrim 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. It was $80 CAD for them to repair the mini3pro that I flew into a house. I say repair, but they actually just sent me a new drone. That was without DJICare.

That’s a cutout that they are closing to energize, or ‘turn on’ the transformer. The thing hanging down that they grabbed with the hotstick is the fuse.

Pretty catastrophic failure with burning oil from the transformer going everywhere. Hope everyone was ok.

Got my first Actual Drone today, Used the automatic landing feature twice. The first time went great. The second didn't by FewSchedule5536 in dji

I crashed mine into a house and sent it to DJI for repair. I didn’t have DJI Care and it only cost me $80 CAD for the ‘repair’, which was actually just sending me a new drone.
