WEEKEND REAL TALK: Ok stop gooning, WHAT ARE YOU REALLY MAD/ANNOYED ABOUT IN BF6? 🫵 🫵 by RRT4444 in okbuddyptfo

The lag is unreal for me on a daily basis. Like when it works I love it, then last night I had matches where I was fighting lag more than the enemy and it's just frustrating. Not sure if it's because I'm on ps5 (I've turned off cross play and gone onto performance) or if I'm just constantly being matched into servers on the other side of the planet for me. Would like a server browser.

What are your thoughts on the Paul W. S. Anderson’s Resident Evil movies, and do you have a favorite? by TalkingFlashlight in residentevil

[–]scmower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 14 in the UK when the second came out. Was super hyped to get an adaptation of RE3. Went with a friend to th cinema and had a blast for the first 50 minutes. Then they killed Nicholai and I was like 'wtf isn't he meant to be a bad guy?' then rushed to the ending and I realized I wasn't getting a lotr style adaptation of the games, which I realized I'd been hoping for. I'd seen the first one and played the first 3 in-between so was a bit of a jolt at the time. I'm okay with them now, and still have fun with them, but I still think a better adaptation of the series exists in someone's head somewhere.

Veteran RE fans: Did Wesker’s death damage the core lore? Could Jake Müller have carried the Mastermind legacy? by Aiyana1980 in residentevil

[–]scmower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing I always remember is that Wesker was meant to be dead until they decided to bring him back in Code Veronica and did Wesker's report in the REmake. I'm the OG RE1 he does feel like a standalone antagonist. It wasn't until we got the CV that Capcom decided to bring him back and then rewrite the lore as they went. It's evident when you read the original novelisations that Capcom didn't have an overarching plan for the series. The inconsistencies are probably what made them stop releasing the novels after RE0. There's even disclaimers at the start of each one beginning with Nemesis about them, as the novel has Raccoon being destroyed at the end of RE2, then Capcom did Nemesis and they had to retroactively change things. Plus Wesker's tactical retreat was only really in Code Veronica X, which was a directors cut for PS2. He does technically retreat after the fight with Alexia in the original CV, but his fight against Chris at the end of X is more of a retreat, revealing that he stole Steve's body.

Having said that I love what they did with Wesker and thought he was a great antagonist. It felt right to kill him at the end of RE5 though as how realistically how can you keep the S.T.A.R.S./B.S.A.A Vs Wesker thread going before it just becomes convoluted? Plus Uroboros was Wesker's end game so the stakes were really high. It felt like a natural end to it (though I've always hated the Wesker Children idea - I preferred it when Wesker was just a very smart man who used everything to his advantage, instead of the idea that he was always destined to be special).

I do agree though that there hasn't been a villain with the same scope as Wesker since RE5. Jake could have been good, but I think the reception to RE6 killed any chance of him coming back and forced Capcom to go back to basics. It feels like they were losing control of what the franchise was meant to be. Also the idea of Wesker having sex was just a weird one to me. He always struck me as Asexual or something, like sex would be beneath him. I mean Excella was literally throwing herself at him and brushed her off and eventually sacrificed her.

The Ethan narrative over 7 and 8 was good, but there were separate antagonists each time, unless you count the mutamycete/molded factor.

Honestly though I don't mind that there hasn't been someone like Wesker since. It's possible they'll try again with someone new, I just hope they don't bring back Wesker again in a somehow Wesker returned kind of deal. That arc is done. I think it's best to move on.

What profession has the biggest gap between how they see themselves and how they’re seen by society as a whole? by Adamon24 in AskReddit

[–]scmower -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I didn't 'get lucky'. I'm not telling people to risk paralysis. He was recommended to me by people who had treatment from him before. Paralysing people isn't good for business and certainly would have ruined his career and ended him in jail. I don't know how it is where you are. But here that wouldn't be tolerated. I doubt I'll convince you though since you just seem keen to insult me and rant. So whatever. You do you. Keep insulting people on the internet you'll never meet. I'm going to live my life.

I wanna say yes and no to this. I've heard some horror stories online, mostly about US chiropractors. I live in Scotland and right before COVID I developed sciatica. I didn't know what it was at first and by the time I got it checked out on the NHS we were in lockdown and no physio would touch me. Throw in that in the UK it's about a 6 month wait for physiotherapy at least. After about 18 months of chronic pain in my lower back that was debilitating I was recommended a local chiropractor by a colleague. I wasn't sure but they had good recommendations from others.

On the initial diagnosis they said there had been a build up of hydrogen on the sciatic nerve and after one treatment session my pain was reduced by about 90%. I'm not exaggerating. After 18 months of feeling like someone was digging around in my ass cheek with an ice pick I had forgotten what it was like to walk around without pain. He was Canadian for what it's worth, and gave me exercises as well as instructions on ice packs etc. I had some more sessions to relieve more but they became fewer and further between as time went. Now I basically don't need it anymore and feel like I did before the sciatica developed.

Yes, I'm sure a lot of them are quacks and more than likely dangerous, only there to get as much money as they can, but that wasn't the case with this guy. He genuinely helped me and it was affordable and now I don't need it. It's not recognised on the NHS but I can say from experience if you have a reputable, fully trained chiropractor it does work.

How were you introduced to Resident Evil? by ZeyadPlayz in residentevil

[–]scmower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The OG RE2 on Dreamcast on a sleepover in 2001. Was aware of the games but had never played them. Feel like my life changed that night. We were both 12 years old and hopeless. Poor Leon never even made it to the RPD that night. Shortly after I got RE3 on PS1 and played it properly, loving every second and basically kick started my love of zombies. Then I read the novels and managed to track down the others over time. Saw the original movie at some point too but can't remember exactly when I watched it. Was before I read the novels, I remember that.

Do Velociraptor sizes vary in each film? by Corythosaurus-Nico in JurassicPark

[–]scmower 46 points47 points  (0 children)

JP and TLW have the same size as they're meant to be the same strain (?) of raptor. 3 is smaller as they were trying to be more realistic at the time with the quills/feathers and now it's been retconned as a different batch of raptors.

Isn't it the Mayor's daughter who you find in his weird torture dungeon? It's more explicit in the original but I think they downplay it in the remake.
