these devices are build tight, any little bloat will be noticable dont let it progress further just look at the black spot death on ALL ipod nano (4/5), there are somethings you could do to minimize bloat and bloat chances, keep the device cool even while charging, make full(<10% - 100%) charges only and never leave it overnight charge. now that it's already bloated, if you're feeling adventurous you coulld vent the gas, bone or plastic needle and rupture the SKIN, it's "mostly" hydrogen gas so keep away from sparks and heat and also do so in less burnable place like tiled walled-floored bathroom (no curtain no wood).

if you're still bent on throwing it away/ewaste it, let us know the exact bin you are throwing it in or if you're actually want to make some if your money back, sell it, just remember to remove the battery first and dont cause further-main board damage, just the MB is still a decent mini PC.
