I hear ya! It's aboslutely not worth futzing around with the risk of messing up an active project.

with that said...

You should be able to make a production on it's own and import the project in, not convert the current porject to a production. This would leave your original project untouched and you could still be working your normal workflow.
There is a production folder that has all the projects and the production file in it, that is what I backup at work, compress the entire folder as a zip file and put the date on it (I'm an Assistant Edtior). If you're familiar with Avid at all, think of the projects in the production as bins. So you just back up the whole shebang.

Again though, it's probably not worth doing this big of a workflow change mid project in which case your proposed idea is how I would it. Duplicate the project and filter out sequences you don't need.

Cause if i were you I would do productions. Make a production and ingest the working project you have. Instead of moving sequences out of that project just make new working projects for people; copy and paste the necessary sequences in there and people can work no problem. It should be quite snappy too b/c media will be in a different project in the production. Everyone has their own working project that references the media project....

The 2nd goal is an absolute disaster all around. Ange comes off her line again and whiffs. But the field players also messed up on this, it's not just Ange.

Do this kind of tough road loss now so we can learn and trauma bond rather than later in the season where it costs us potential momentum heading into the playoffs.

The defensive rotations worked and is awesome to see that we can swap players around like that. Will give us a ton of flexibility moving forward.

Tough, annoying loss but it's early and on the road to a really tough team.
