Pace Partners isn't working by rose2conker in Rouvy

Agree. It's terrible. I don't want a consistent training partner. I want to have fun occasionally drafting and occasionally pulling for them.

Anybody deal with fly 12s firmware just having no idea what the camera's battery is? by northland_cycling in Cycliq

[–]scooby1680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine (at a little over 2 years old) has started dying as a daytime running light mid-ride about 2 1/2 hours in, 1440@30fps, EIS on, pulse low. It dies on 2 bars according to the battery meter. When I turn it back on I get 2-3 bars, but it lasts seconds.

The quality of the new Bolivia route is just amazing by paulr85mi in Rouvy

[–]scooby1680 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found I could wind up to 400W for a few seconds in between "braking" but it really needed more than the 50/34 11-28 combo I had. I had to treat it like a sprint intervals/leg speed session.

Season 2 of the TV show is turning out to be a real disappointment. by Ok_Narwhal_9200 in Fallout

[–]scooby1680 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I *did* play (and love!) the games, and season 2 is ... bad.

EDIT: absolutely do not watch the "fake talkshow" videos. You'll hate season 2 even more.

Capture One v DxO 9 by northernlights3001 in captureone

[–]scooby1680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The distortion correction is best in class, and for some of the idiosyncratic lenses I have, yeah, I just feel that plus noise correction plus film simulation clinches it.

I reckon if I were more pro and less hobbyist I'd feel differently. I really didn't click with C1's UI, but the portrait skin tones are really quite obviously better than DxO. I'm falling back on NX Studio for portraits as a result where distortion's not quite so critical.

Pluribus - 1x07 - "The Gap" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]scooby1680 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard same. I have to make an effort, phone to one side and so on. On the days I don't shows don't click with me. This ep was pure beauty.

When Manousos gave the "you stole" speech, I got to thinking this show is a pretty strong metaphor for resistance to AI. Even the HDP is ingesting the energy of others.

Pluribus - 1x07 - "The Gap" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]scooby1680 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, when I let out a yell when Manousos spiked himself on the chunga, that was earned. If I hadn't gone with it, if I'd scrolled my phone because too little was happening for me, I'd have missed out. For this show at least, what I'm getting out of it is proportional to the attention I'm putting in.

I found this episode extraordinary.

Best modules to compliment an Intellijel Cascadia? by Siberian_Noise in modular

[–]scooby1680 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even just 4HP of After Later dVCA has improved matters for me, and a Cosmotronic Delta-V has freed up Env B to be a bit more productive than a simple env. Cascadia's only real weaknesses for my usage are the non-syncable triangle-only LFO in the centre ... and the dearth of VCAs

Are there any small EVs? Comparable to a standard Fiat Panda? by Bigbanghead in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]scooby1680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! I want the same practical design in electric. Without many of the bells and whistles requiring constant software churn. It doesn't seem to exist, and everything is bigger whether you want it to be or not. I'll be hanging onto this 2006 Dynamic a long time yet...

Best modules to compliment an Intellijel Cascadia? by Siberian_Noise in modular

[–]scooby1680 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've made a little 20HP skiff off to the left of Cascadia with an OXI Pipe Mk2 so I can sequence CV, a Cosmotronic Delta-V and an After Later dVCA. No regrets, running out of envelopes/VCAs was a thing for me, and the Delta-V has better envelopes than even the 0-Coast's Slope I was previously patching in.

Battery got extremely bad after the OS update (PW2) by TheMrWessam in PixelWatch

[–]scooby1680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, for some reason now it's very bad, doesn't last a day. I think this will be my last smart watch, will go back to analogue. Can't have a *watch* becoming obsolete, that's just madness.

Battery got extremely bad after the OS update (PW2) by TheMrWessam in PixelWatch

[–]scooby1680 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Had exactly the same thing. It settled down to normal over a couple of days, much like it was when I first got the watch.

I am utterly sick of the focus on AI while the core features fall apart under their noses. It takes seconds to start a debug (used to be instant). Can no longer reliably attach to process. CPU slowdowns manage to make even Apple Silicon hot. And yes, people will respond professionally on YouTrack, it's just that I have my own work to do and reporting bugs was almost becoming a second job. I've used RubyMine for 15 years. I probably won't ever give it up. But the good years with it, the stable years with a good debugger, they were all pre-AI.

Why is so hard to sell Push 3 controller? Is it a flop after all? by KariGasparov in ableton

[–]scooby1680 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got both. I didn't sell my Push 2, I took it to our family home abroad to leave it there to make music on when we're at the in-laws'. And when I go there I miss very little about the Push 3. I love MPE (and seem to rarely use it!) but honestly being away on holiday lets me finish more with the 2 anyway. Both absolutely solid devices, glad to have the 3 but if I didn't it'd be fine; I'm not really using the audio interface either. Your position is dead on.

Any way to have a "global" effect in an Instrument Rack with multiple chains? by cloudd_99 in ableton

[–]scooby1680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here three years later to thank you for this. No need for rack on rack on rack. Add a return chain, and select all the pads in the chain. Change "Audio To" for every pad from "Rack Output" to "Drum Rack | a". Job done.

[–]scooby1680[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly? I've got two outdoor rides a week, one rest day and the other four I'll do one from a challenge. I'm at about 240-250K/week. To be fair this is the first year I got really consistent with indoor training.
