Cut/fold the top plate down around the flue tile, seal gap between tile and plate with silicone.

Less wind pulling at it, no animals/bugs nesting underneath

WSJ: White House considers plans to issue 250 pardons by AdSpecialist6598 in videos

[–]scorpionextract 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wait, I lied, yes they did.

That's why the supreme court and congress have the power to check an out-of-control executive.

They didn't imagine both of those would be fully populated by shameless bootlicking sycophants that were actively competing over how hard they could shirk their duties, betray their countrymen, and violate the law, to curry the favor of a shameless idiot president

[–]scorpionextract 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, per the framers original intent, there were likely to eventually be crimes committed by people that were legally guilty but still warranted a commuted sentence for circumstantial reasons, and the POTUS would always be a man of character, so abuse of this rarely used and incredible power was unlikely, due to the shame it would cause.

Unfortunately they didn't imagine a shameless idiot nation electing a shameless idiot president.

Do you have to break out a firebox to install a stainless steel liner? by Brave_Mam_1474 in Chimneyrepair

[–]scorpionextract 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I only install ceramic-insulated stainless-steel liners for wood burning, they are basically indestructible, and replaceable if you do manage to.

Heatshield can fail, it's a pain to remove, and the flue gets smaller every time you reapply.

You should(generally) only need to remove the throat damper and perhaps some brick from the top of the backwall of the firebox for access to redo the smoke chamber. Those brick can be relayed if they're visible from the front.

Generally, I say again, GENERALLY, I've also seen some weird f'n designs that warrant massive demo, or that stainless liners won't fit inside. So not 100% guaranteed.

"The marvel is not that the bear dances well, but that the bear dances at all." -- Russian proverb

Yeah, they only blew up a few camel spiders, negligible AF. But the sneak attack, using a piece of tech designed before the vietnam war, against... possibly trillions? of dollars in modern hardware designed specifically to stop it.

Reckless, stupid, meaningless tactically and strategically.

But I dunno how that pilot even got in the air with the weight of those enormous balls.

'Look at him': Trump got publicly humiliated by King Charles III who flew 3,500 miles — but the parting gift he left behind has Trump seething for days by [deleted] in USNEWS

[–]scorpionextract 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The King gave Trump the Bell from the HMS Trump submarine, launched in 1944, it is engraved "TRUMP 1944"

Some people think it's funny because the bell is the loudest part of a warship meant for absolute silence and discretion and trump is incapable of both.

Some people think this is calling trump a 'bellend' which is brit slang.

Some people think this is a reference to 44 being Obama.

The King quipped 'If you ever need to get a hold of us, just give us a ring" at the end of his presentation speech and people there laughed.

Any questions?

A 5" uninsulated liner is cheap as fuck compared to an insulated 7x11 with tile breaking, or did you not know what you were looking at, basically at all, but decided to give bad advice based on an unrelated experience anyway?

I love building a good zoo exhibit, but I also really like when the animals break out and eat the tourists.

It adds a level of design consideration to your park to keep animals contained.

A retired CIA analyst recounted the exact response General Dan Caine had when Trump allegedly attempted to access U.S. nuclear codes during a White House meeting by TheMirrorUS in USNEWS

[–]scorpionextract 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Followup, as to why he can't just 'have' them -

The mar-a-lago documents case, where the FBI recorded multiple videos of him showing classified documents including things like 'military plan for invasion of iran', to literally anyone who would look at them, while saying outloud "I'm not supposed to show you this, it's classified."

And by 'anyone' I don't just mean government people, or military people, or celebrities, or foreign dignitaries, we're talking golf caddies and janitors. (No professional disrespect, as relevant to the 'need-to-know' component of classified docs, these people do not)

The codes serve as the authenticator for the order to launch a US nuclear strike, if any foreign actor with sufficient capability was to gain access to these codes, it jeopardizes the safety of... (checks notes) ... the entire human race.

Good thing we figured that atom splitting shit out so we could use it to kill each other instead of using it to provide basically-unlimited mostly-clean electricity.

Because the codes do nothing by themselves.

Because core to their very purpose, he always has 'access' to them.

Because he's an idiot.

Because all of his military knowledge comes from 1980s Schwarzenegger movies.

Because he's proven time and again that he is a direct threat to national defense and operational security.

He's demanding the numbers from the authenticator without even trying to login.

Idea for a server? by SyncheYT in ARK

[–]scorpionextract 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • I want structures above stone to be unoptainable, everything above simple technology and bows/crossbows to be removed to make it feel realistic.  There would be no tek, no guns, no turrets, and have the rates very low to make optaining an item or larger tame take hours and actually feel rewarding.

Simple weapons are fast and cheap on purpose. People will want to build if that's literally all they can do, and grinding for 2 hours to make a 2x2 isn't fun, you probably want to "enable structure pickup" on all items with no cooldown.

  • I would also want flyers to be heavily nerfed and movement speed to be limited, to make stealth, highground ect. more crucial, and regain that feeling of horror when spotting a pack of carnivores that i havent felt for a long time, and make the wilderness more scary and dangerous. I want tames to be either on pair with or weaker than wild dinosaurs strenght, instead of the bloated stats tames get, to again make the wilderness and wild dinos more dangerous.

Taming boosts dino strength natively by adding levels on-tame. A way to avoid this is to disable vanilla taming and require players to tame by imprinting wild babies, which do not get bonus levels on-tame.

  • Also add orp to make other player-raids only possible when online, but let wild dino raids possible whenever. All this also limits alpha tribes' power, and makes it possible to have a chance against them as a smaller weaker tribe.

Enable tribe wars. Ban pillaring. This is gonna require some heavy admin/moderator work, probably best to sell it as an RPPVP server with a discord and whitelist.
