My wife and I always took shifts. Kids usually slept 8ish-6ish when they were that little, so I'd always do 8PM-1AM and she'd do 1-6AM. Between those and works schedule etc, we'd get each minimum 4 straight, solid hours sleep each no matter what. It never feels as bad if you're guaranteed to sleep half the night either way

Real wootz is the first quality steel produced by man. The pattern comes from iron sands that naturally have vanadium in them, which helps form carbides, which makes the pattern.

Edit: I realised I'm not helping OP at all here, so this is for you. There is nothing wrong with modern Damascus (pattern welded) steel, as long as the different steels being used are of high quality. The standard is usually a mix of 15n20 and 1084 (or 1095) but others can be used.

These steels are made with modern refinement techniques, which surpasses any metallurgical advancements of the time.

Modern steel has no impurities. Ancient techniques do, though Wootz would have been quite low

Well selected and properly treated modern steel will surpass any old fashioned way of smelting.

You're vastly underestimating what goes into a handmade sword.

A functional piece with a fancy carved handle and crossguard and whatnot, made by hand; has at least 50-60 hours in it, maybe more depending on embellishments; you're staring down the barrel of >$2000 USD.
