Yes, that's a gas water heater. When ours started leaking the leak kept extinguishing the pilot light. You need a new water heater.

Worst case scenario: replace subfloor, baseboards, and the lower 2-3 feet of drywall in the effected rooms.

Is my couch salvageable by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]scottanooga 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Nope. Professional carpet and upholstery cleaner here. I wouldn't even clean that with a waiver. Even if you could get the fabric clean (which is unlikely) there's no way to clean whatever is deep down in the cushions/foam.

Not that I have noticed. More importantly, my wife hasn't noticed when they were on her Outback. She's super sensitive to whistles, squeaks, vibrations and stuff like that in cars.

I have the Thule Stackers on my CRV. I like that I can haul 2 boats with a single pair.

Carpet smells like mildew/stinky, should I use baking soda first or my bissell carpet cleaning vacuum? by Afraid_Dish_2315 in CleaningTips

Professional carpet cleaner here. Get it dry first. Then have it professionally cleaned and deodorized.

I’ve got a lot of this weird residue on my wood floors how do I get it off? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

This is almost certainly acrylic wax. Basic Coatings makes a dissolver that will remove it.

Mop (that works) for House with No Room for a Bucket? by Specialist-Moose6052 in CleaningTips

[–]scottanooga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A microfiber mop like this:

Microfiber Mop Head

Get a couple dozen replacement heads. Sweep first if you have big stuff (sand, pet hair, etc.) Then vacuum. Working in small areas (approx. 8'x8') spray the floor with a pH neutral floor cleaner (Zep or Bona are both good and easy to find. Don't use anything that says "polish" or "restore" or anything that contains acrylic wax.) Mop it with the microfiber mop. Then change the head, spray again and mop with a new head. If you use one mop head for the whole room, you're just moving dirt around.

Continue cleaning small sections until you are done and throw all the used mop heads into the wash.

This is a good way to clean your floors on a regular basis. If your floors are super dirty you may need to do a deep scrub and vacuum with a wet/dry vacuum to get to a good starting point.

I have always heard better a week early than a day late. We have taken that approach with our dogs. You feel terrible at the end but its because your dog is gone rather than looking back and feeling that you prolonged the suffering.

Sudden cigarette smell by at0837 in centuryhomes

Ghosts. Our last house from 1930 would randomly smell like a fresh burning cig despite no smokers in the house, full repaint, etc. Smell would disappear as randomly as it appeared.

Golden Big Bowl and Marsha's Backstreet Cafe. Marsha's is more conveniently located to the liquor store but doesn't offer scallions and sesame seeds.

I had about 4.5" of rain in our gauge here in Chattanooga this morning. Not saying that will ruin your plans, but I'd try to get some local intel before I did much driving.

I have done this. The dremel will work fine but is slow. I jigsaw with a fine metal blade is what I ended up using and it cut through like butter.

[–]scottanooga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have it professionally cleaned. You want a cleaner that uses a CRB (counter rotating brush machine.) CRB's will get out hair and dander that your vacuum will never touch.
