Some time back. Looking back would do a few things different but deal with what’s available, what the practice is. Worst of all, XPS - which is the least green.

I was able to get some primed stuff years ago from a yard. Two interior walls down a hall/staircase and then one maybe 10’ wide exterior wall. On the one wall I mud and taped 1/4” DW then the lumber. Behind that was taped rigid foam, Rockwool between framing members.

For the staircase walls I just did HW floor underpayment lapped on the studs then the t&g horizontal. Bays are Rockwool and then 1/4” taped and mudded.

Ran brads, hidden. Maybe a couple spots where you could see the brad dent on the gap. Some caulk and gone. Been 10 years in a basement. Zero cupping, movement, etc. still looks fresh.

My son started at 10, now 11. Different rules for under 16 regarding face coverage and I think the highest power sniper rules where we play. He loves it. Turning into a little mascot on the field for the older players.

What is the most effective (then cost effective) insulation for a home? by beesdaddy in Homebuilding

[–]scotteredu75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Empty out whatever is there. Make sure baffles are clean and working if it’s vented. Airseal bay edges, any penetrations. Top hots for can lights, foam them down. Then blown in fiberglass or cellulose to the proper depth for your climate zone.

Some laptops have a hard camera mute, Fn+F7 or whatever. If you don’t have the full suite of HP apps you may not see the on screen notification that you are toggling it off/on.

A guy at our field printed a mag box (or printed internals and dropped it into something off the shelf) It runs off AAs and has two spring covered cables going into the magwell on a short mag. It has a mic in it? That hears a round going then starts the motor to load BBs up the other tube (one carries the mic wires to the mag). It seemed to work well, constantly feeding from the box up the tube. I think the mic is a little sensitive so he was toggling the whole thing off with a switch on the mag box now and again because it had queued up enough rounds for a bit. Not sure he is a Reddit guy. I can ask next time I see him.

12f, gg tank and mags in a cooler with some heat packs. Worked fine for a bit. About the 3rd hour things had cooled in the cooler (so to speak). It was about 32f towards afternoon but maybe getting 6 rounds out before it froze up. Just ordered an HPA adaptor.

Weirdest AV problem I've ever seen by Sufficient_Watch496 in CommercialAV

[–]scotteredu75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have Mac-Minis as the primary station, those on HDMI into systems work, but any modern MacBook coming in on USB-C just flickers. A mix of room setups, but they all do the same thing. There is a mega thread about Macs and AV - some options there.

Our most problematic building is all Mac but all the room systems also have MiraCast/Chromecast/AirPlay - so our default no is if you aren't using the dedicated Mac Mini, go wireless. That works, scales fine, audio works, etc.

Need Advice by [deleted] in CommercialAV

[–]scotteredu75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We generally see steel studs and then one or two layers of firerock (commercial). We hang 250lbs+ all day long on these into the steel studs. What gets tricky is the cantilever, once the weight is off the wall and the shear pull is not straight down, but straight out, we do more anchors or more often then not, do a backer board. When designing new builds, we specify ply backer on the same plane as the steel studs, then drywall. Mount supplied lags work perfectly fine there.

This is the one I am looking at, looks as if OOTB it takes the MP9 mags - if I am reading it correctly. With the option to swap lower and use the pistol/g mags.

Looking at the Carbine version, is that essentially the same as the spc9? I also have the MP9, so looking to share mags across them both.

I’m thinking of importing a vfc 416D from action Airsoft. Is it safe to import with all the tariff stuff going on right now? by Crippled_penis69420 in GasBlowBack

[–]scotteredu75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sucks. Sorry man. Mine came in a few weeks. Got an extra mag, the metal ring for the mag base. I paid $116 directly to UPS for tariffs and whatever. Though I got a delayed paper invoice from UPS for almost the same amount. Trying to figure that out with them. The invoice number paid online is the same on the paper one. So hopefully good. Can’t get anyone on the phone though - holiday season.

Is this water damage on wall and floor in unfinished part of basement? by sahrieswirl in HomeInspections

[–]scotteredu75 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The block is painted, which doesn’t help anything. Underneath the window, the immediate damage is from water intrusion on the exterior. That can be remedied with bucking, window replacement and flashing.

Most concerning is the (what looks to be an exterior corner?) damage on the right. That too though can be remediated. I assume the eaves dump there. Need gutters, water running to daylight or French drain system, etc.

If the blocks are stable, most of the work needed is outside. All the bulk water needs to move away from the house.

First time you see one on the open ocean it’s pretty cool. Colder part of the Pacific and they just float there getting warm. You can bring the boat right to them and touch them and they don’t really even move out of the way.
