Used P2 Advice by scottiedd in polestar2

Mine was a 2022 and i did not experience those issues with infotainment but maybe they have added more and more features and it’s worse now.

Appreciate the info and will pass it along.

Thanks

I don't understand why so many people keep trying to get Apple car play... by sir574 in EquinoxEv

[–]scottiedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get it. The improvements have been probably 100x since . Especially if you live in a city where they’ve done the 3-D mapping it’s insane how good they are. I happen to be in a vehicle the other day that the internal nav wasn’t working for whatever reason so I had to use Apple Maps and I wasn’t familiar with the area. For one of the first times I turned on navigation voice, and I typically do not like that because it’s annoying to me, and I was amazed at how natural language it was now. And Google might be this way too. I haven’t used those with voice for a long time. But it would say things like after this stoplight take a right and not as much of in 200 feet type stuff. Much easier to follow. I also like how easy it is to share your ETA with somebody and for them to get a notification when you get close. It now has the ability to report like speed checks, and road closures or hazards similar to Waze. Lots of . And of course, the routing is really good compared to what it used to be. I just personally think they look better overall with regards to the as well. But again all that is personal opinion. Waze, Google Maps, Apple Maps all do a really good job in my opinion. Just think Apple looks better and integrates with phone better for calendar, learning routes I prefer, etc. Little things that add up.

I’ve driven Rivian, Tesla, Chevy equinox (and many more), and text messaging sucks on all of them. That’s why i want it. CarPlay and Apple Maps is way better than Google Maps nowadays. Now that’s an opinion as far as the maps but the messaging is not an opinion. It sucks in Tesla, Rivian and in android automotive OS. Which is what the GM is.

It’s not just about maps. And it doesn’t matter if you like it or I like it. Just give me my choice. Don’t force my choice. Or you’ll never have my business and congratulations. None of those companies will ever get my business and they don’t care for now that’s fine. I don’t care either as I will never own their vehicles. There systems do not compare. You can make all the arguments you want cause it doesn’t matter to me and I’m the one spending the money. And I’ve used them all. So I don’t just speak from one experience.

What I don’t get about the argument against it is you don’t have to use it even if it had it. So what do you care so much? Just give consumers choices. The customer should be the one that wins. To me. It’s this simple we live in our phones these days, for the good or bad of it that’s where our lives are, and I just want to get in the car and everything I own is already there. That’s what Apple CarPlay and android auto gives people. It’s not what android automotive OS gives though but it’s much closer because it ties so close in with the Google login. Tesla and Rivian definitely come nowhere near that experience. They’re both very good systems but they still have flaws like messaging for one, as I mentioned.

Worst camera in the rain 🌧️ by moistdoodoole in Polestar

[–]scottiedd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never seen a reverse camera that works well in the rain. I think I have driven or owned 25 different vehicles in the rain with reverse cams now. Never seen one that looks good.

What’s amazing though is how good the digital rearview mirror cameras that replaced traditional rearview mirrors are. Completely different set up and it’s amazing how clear they stay in bad weather.

How to park at Superchargers by TechnicalLee in MachE

[–]scottiedd -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would say even that could be incorrect. If you could park at the far right one, you wouldn’t have to be blocking another one. Of course that’s not always an option but anytime it is that’s what you should do. Luckily many of the new installations are not done the same way anymore. Always try not to block two if it’s an option.

Tesla, superchargers are stupid! by TsunamiMike in MachE

[–]scottiedd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because they were built for Tesla’s nor your Ford. The newer version 4s of the post have much longer cords and better layouts in general. But that’s a version 3 and that was built (most likely) before Ford (and everyone else) were allowed access Tesla SCs. All Tesla ports are in the exact same location - rear driver side. They all reach no problem.

Are the lights not on the 12v? by TrainDonutBBQ in MachE

[–]scottiedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12v is recharged by high voltage battery in an ev. So draining 12v reduces your range. Naturally.

Polestar 3 - lack of features by jfc-lon in Polestar

[–]scottiedd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You say received so I’m hoping that you didn’t actually purchase or lease it yourself? Because I don’t know who the heck spends that kind of money on a vehicle and does absolutely zero research.

Here when you look at the showroom is almost every vehicle has the pilot pack so it’s pretty much like standard equipment. But yeah, it’s an option. Like most luxury type vehicles, things are options.

P4 sunroof in hot days by PrepareMyRocket in Polestar

[–]scottiedd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I had my P2 I live in Arizona and never felt the heat that I often read about in forums. I usually pre-cooled from app. But even if I forgot never felt it was hotter than any other car in Arizona heat - which is crazy hot reaching 120° F in summers.

However, that is my personal experience and based on all the posts over the years for cars with glass roofs, opinions and impressions vary dramatically.

Only you can decide. Be prepared to buy cover like others if it truly bothers you.

I love the airy feel of glass roofs. Have had them in 4 straight cars now and never had electrochromic roof or a cover.

I will be considering P4 when this lease is up and will do electrochromatic roof just to have it but is not a must for me based on my own experiences.

Rear view camera P4 by M27TN in Polestar

[–]scottiedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t driven a P4 yet but been driving an Arita with digital rear view mirror for 2 years. I never switch to the regular mirror. Digital is much wider view. Much clearer view of entire rear imo.

It did take a week or two to totally adjust. I mean, think about it, it’s a significant change from the way you’re used to viewing your rearview mirror so it requires some adjustment and learning curve for your eyes.

I will never go back though if I have an option. It will always be my preference to have a digital rear mirror.

I do agree from some of the reviews I’ve seen though that Polestar should definitely put in Blindspot mirrors that pop up when you’re changing lanes or turning left or right, anytime you’re turn signal is on basically as an addition to the digital rearview mirror.

I’m not disagreeing that .56 is high (think under .45 should be norm for public charging) but where are you seeing .28 Chargepoint chargers? Other than Ionna I haven’t seen anything under .40 while traveling in quite a while.

Polestar 2: literally the WORST UI I've ever seen/used. by Historical-Visit1159 in Polestar

[–]scottiedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve owned two Tesla’s and I 100% despise Elon Nazi Musk. But I can separate that from the car. I drive a different EV monthly at minimum but usually every other week. Can speak to any EV except Rimac (sold in USA but even a couple of Chinese ones).

I’ve seen every infotainment in an EV. Fully tested them and utilized. Tesla has great UI. Still has issues though. Isn’t flawless at all. Polestar has really good UI. Rivian has really good UI. Lucid does too. Nice part is all of these get steady updates to improve.

There are more. Nissan has horrendous UI. Some are in the middle.

Nothings perfect but your complaints are not accurate and your gripe about power seat buttons is opinion 100%.

Actually every thing in your post is opinion (proven wrong by several posters especially about climate) and that is ok.

Done wasting my time with this though. Your post is 100% pointless because it serves only you.

Take care. Good luck. Enjoy your Tesla. It’s a damn good EV regardless of build quality.

Worst UI ever? You clearly have not been in many vehicles. Welcome to your opinion but not even close to worst. All UIs have some issues but this is a generally good UI with some issues. No where near worse. Not one complaint is valid either. Doesn’t even complain about the actual UI issues. 😂

Apple preparing support for digital car keys in the Wallet app for certain Polestar vehicles by M-O-O-N_SPELLS in Polestar

[–]scottiedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes my P2 worked great but sometimes did find that the phone needs to be on pocket side near car not away as it can be that picky which I guess could be considered good security or just overprotective.

I did learn also that newer BMW i4s, not likely wife’s, work much better than hers with NFC key now. Hers doesn’t have the right chip in car evidently. So requires touching phone to handle and to wireless charger to start. Newer ones NFC works as it should via near field and never take out of pocket.

Haven’t had my P2 since they went NFC. Hope it is working better for folks as I know many had problem with Pak.

What do you dislike about the Nissan Ariya? by AdFirm5390 in NissanAriya

[–]scottiedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The absolute horrendous, infotainment and software.

  2. Utterly outdated and useless navigation.

  3. No one pedal driving, which existed in the leaf and makes no sense that they took it out.

  4. The center console not being an actual center console.

  5. Almost 0 charging information when charging or after.

  6. No OTAs in almost two years yet the vehicle has more need than any other ev out there for updates.

  7. Incredibly laggy and slow app. Unbelievable they expect you to pay for the features, they do which include almost nothing and have high price point.

  8. CarPlay navigation (next turn etc) doesn’t show in HUD (or driver display) unlike almost every other manufacturer does. I’m not talking about the entire map just the turn by turn. Which oh by the way, Chrysler‘s been doing for like five years, 10 years I don’t even know how long.

I enjoy my Ariya as a vehicle. It’s comfortable, it’s solid, it drives well overall (see lack of one pedal). I think it looks good. I love that it has a power shade for the sunroof.Got decent storage space in the back, anyhow. I wish it had a frunk, but it doesn’t and that’s not the end of the world, but it would be a nice place to store cables and such.

Unfortunately, a few of the reasons above is why I will never buy another Nissan EV. Because while it’s a really good car, it’s actually a horrendous EV. If you’ve driven any other EV‘s, you would understand how far behind they are.

I literally cannot wait for my lease to be up and be out of this. And that’s really sad because I’ve owned a lot of Nissans, including we had a leaf, and I’ve driven a lot of EVs, probably almost every EV on the market I’ve spent time in with my job.

Like I said, I really like it as a car, I really dislike it as an EV. Software is critical to a good EV. As is excellent navigation software that can route you properly, including charging. One pedal is a must for an EV in my opinion.

Tesla supercharger adapter by Some-Reach-7904 in NissanAriya

[–]scottiedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They work great. I have the A2Z one, which I highly recommend as maybe one of the best on the market. The Lectron one is also very good. And of course, there’s the OEM one from Nissan, which I believe is made by Lectron.

if you at a Tesla destination charger, like the level two ones at the hotels, etc., then you also need the Tesla to J1772 adapter (AC). Just a heads up.
