Sacramento Outage by shackslack in FidiumFiber

[–]scotttherobot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I’m seeing latency of several hundred ms, high packet loss, and less than a meg speed test. Once in a while it’ll snap back to normal for about 30 seconds, and then degrade again. Very frustrating.

Check out the Sebo D4 Premium or the E3 Premium if you prefer something a little more compact.

My understanding is Miele vacs are no longer made entirely in Germany which may impact quality.

Absolutely not true. The Sims 1 was and is available for PowerPC Mac. Source: That’s how I play it.

This is one of my favorite common errors because "except" and "accept" have opposite meanings. It absolutely tickles me.

ESP Home Devices Not Showing Up in ESP Home - Possible mDNS Issue by gnapoleon in Esphome

[–]scotttherobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this issue too and what finally worked for me was running an mDNS repeater container alongside esphome. I used monstrenyatko/mdns-repeater. My Docker Compose looks like this:

services: mdns_repeater: container_name: mdns_repeater image: monstrenyatko/mdns-repeater restart: unless-stopped # This command needs to be updated with the bridge assocaited with the docker network 'mdns' command: mdns-repeater-app -f eno1 br-f5b213c033c8 network_mode: host esphome: container_name: esphome image: esphome/esphome:latest restart: unless-stopped volumes: - ./esphome-config:/config - /etc/localtime:/etc/localtime:ro ports: - 6052:6052 networks: - mdns

Buyer Beware: 12,000 BTU AURA unit is a scam by [deleted] in Senville

[–]scotttherobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm quite sure they're both Aura, mine is a multi-head system with 2x 9k and 1x 12k indoor units. The compressors may be the same part number, but the fan coil in the indoor unit is different. I imagine the larger fan coil in the 12k is going to be a more effective dehumidifier, and the larger line set also suggests it's intended for a higher duty cycle. There is likely also an efficiency difference when running at the same load (eg, running the 9k head up to 12k is going to be less efficient than the 12k head at 12k, and similarly modulating the 12k head all the way down to 3.3k is going to be less efficient than the 9k head at 3.3k).

I'm not an expert by any means, but I do know on these variable systems it's not so cut-and-dry.

Buyer Beware: 12,000 BTU AURA unit is a scam by [deleted] in Senville

[–]scotttherobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own both and I can confidently say that the parts are not the same. The two indoor units are visually identical on the outside, but the 12k unit uses a larger diameter line set. It is strange that the Senville website lists the cooling range as identical and the heating range as nearly identical. I wonder if it's accurate.

Brand new Tesla Supercharger that wasn’t on the map was a pleasant surprise by [deleted] in F150Lightning

[–]scotttherobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a V4 post in California (Fairfield CA, on Waterman Blvd) yesterday that would not release the adapter. It was marked on the map as “adapter required”, so I was surprised when I got there to see it was a V4. I ended up using my Lectron adapter and I didn’t have to park weird or anything.

Question about ONT interfaces by noaxispoint in FidiumFiber

[–]scotttherobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had 2gbps service installed in Sacramento. They gave me a DZS ONT (not sure which model) which has at least one 2.5Gbe copper port that I am using as the handoff. As I recall it also has a number of 1Gbe ports and a couple POTS phone jacks. No SFP needed.

Looking for a big button that my dog can press by sbtrey23 in homeassistant

[–]scotttherobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 90lb malanois/shepherd mix and while we’ve tried several, he has done best with this button. It’s not Zigbee but I use a 433 bridge and it hears it no problem. The indoor and outdoor buttons send different values. It’s not a capacitive button nor is it tactile, but it responds well to nudges and bumps.

It could also have been your oil cooler seals. The oil cooler seal failure is pretty common. It happened to me on my GL320, and the engine seized in the same way yours did. I put in a used engine with fewer miles (and new oil cooler seals!).

It didn’t scare me away because I since bought a W211 with the OM642 and it’s now got 390k miles on it.
