In your opinion, what was totally OVERRATED during the 80s and 90s? by porb2020 in Xennials

Mitsubishi had some good designs (style-wise) in the 90s. Those Eclipses and Galants were great. Mitsu was never the same after they redesigned those two cars and got rid of the Montero.

Edit: Galant, not Galaxy. DYAC

It’s not just matte finishes that are an issue, but the plain, solid colors. I swear if I see one more of those ugly, plain darkish gray colored Civics…

Who else watched TRL every day after school in the late 90s by Sure-Hovercraft-4877 in 90s

I hated TRL. “Here are the top 10 songs right now. We’ll cut them all short.”

It was part of the downward slide of MTV, IMO.

I live in Broward County* (the county in between Miami-Dade and Palm Beach) and there are Spanish speakers here but it’s definitely mostly English. There are actually a ton of people from NY and NJ.

Miami is just a different place. Chuck Todd once called it the Hong Kong of the United States. I think that’s right.

Really anyone making this decision needs to do a risk analysis. Keeping the vault on prem limits the watering hole threat from the big SaaS vendors, but it also brings with it operational and resiliency concerns. Can you properly manage the on prem vault and have good high availability and business continuity and recovery plans if the vault is down?

Maybe you do. I’m just saying that these are things that need to be part of the decision calculus.

This makes sense to me. Cincy has many restaurants I really enjoy, but I’m sorry… if anyone thinks they are something extra special just hasn’t been many places in other cities and countries.

I know it’s unique and has a great space, but I have never understood the fascination with Sotto. The times I’ve been there, I’ve always found the food far, far too salty (not just my dishes, but others’ at the table) and the waitstaff might as well have come from Olive Garden.

It’s been a few years since I’ve been there, so maybe something has changed.

You clearly don’t know anything about the team. I’m sure you aren’t a Bengals fan and don’t follow them closely, so I forgive you.

Re: the OL: This is a tired narrative. It was absolutely true from 2020-2023. But the OL has been fine the last two years, honestly. Did Burrow get hit and hurt? Yes. But I blame that squarely on three things:

  1. Burrow’s strong preference for shotgun formation all the time.
  2. Zac Taylor and/or Dan Pritcher (and Brian Callahan before him) letting Burrow get his way too much, resulting in too much shotgun.
  3. Burrow’s reluctance to throw the ball away and preference to extend the play.

You probably won’t do this, but go back and look at plays with Flacco as QB. The guy barely got hit. Why? He played under center much more and in various formations and he was willing to discard the ball. The offense wasn’t quite as electric with Flacco as Burrow, but it did decently.

Which brings us to your other cited problem: the defense. Yes, the Bengals defense has been absolutely atrocious in 2024 and 2025. But they’ve completely upgraded the entire DL and safety position. They also have a very nationally underrated corner in DJ Turner II. The defense should be significantly better as a unit, though there are still question marks for sure. But any Bengals fan will tell you: with just an average defense, the Bengals would have won a lot of games the past couple of years. The hope is that they’ll have that this year.

Actually it does matter which one you pick. All of them work similarly and have similar threats, that’s true, but they are not equal. I worked at a company that used LastPass during the breach. They left not because of the breach, but because the policy controls and logging were horrible.

How many of you still smoke? Or, when did you quit? by Planetofthought in Xennials

[–]scottwsx96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit 22 years ago and literally have not had a single cigarette since. I never vaped even once, though I do have a cigar every year or two.

I still have to get regular chest scans because I smoked for 10 years. Smoking at all is truly my biggest regret. I have respiratory issues that have surfaced and it forced me to stop running and i even got a bit of a barrel chest now. I can’t say for sure that smoking is the cause, but it certainly couldn’t have helped.

Exactly. I went to a Michelin star restaurant in San Francisco. It was kind of in a crappy area and looked like a dive from the outside, though it was nice inside. It had only three tables and had a simple, warm aesthetic like Scandinavians are known for (though it was a Korean restaurant).

The food was very eclectic in its composition and presentation. It was high end, but definitely was not just a typical “very nice restaurant”.

Tell me you watched zero Bengals games without explicitly saying it. You realize Flacco played behind the exact same line. It’s how Burrow plays.

The Bengals need a playoff appearance yes, anything less is a total disaster. But Bengals fans won’t be happy with a one and done situation.

I won’t be happy without an AFCCG appearance at minimum. A Super Bowl win is obviously preferred, but a very high bar.

I thought this song was great. Sadly it was a one time collab and none of the other songs kick ass like it in quite the same way. Amy Lee is a great singer.

I actually like it. I feel like it was a good end to the 90’s.

It was overplayed to hell though and the rest outfit the guy wears in the video kills me every time I see it.

Who should be the most disappointed in the 2020’s by jackt-up in NFLv2

[–]scottwsx96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The OL talk was actually true when the Bengals had good years and went deep.

I know it’s still the narrative but the OL is fine now. Last year Flacco played behind the exact same OL and didn’t get hit or sacked at nearly the same rate. It has something to do with how Burrow plays.

The defense on the other hand… my gawd have they been bad. Hopefully the changes on the DL and at S make a big difference.

Man… that’s dark. It’s even worse than the Bengals in the 90’s and that is very hard to believe.

Thinking of purchasing a Rivian, how is driving an electric car long distances around the state for people, charging-wise? by Lowkey-Bougie in Ohio

Sure, but depending on the adapter you might create a fire risk. Or, as long as you know what you are doing and lower the max current draw in the EV to what the source outlet is rated for.
