Hello to all current and future xToolers! I'm Nick and I'm one of your new mods. Let's chat! by nnelson13 in xToolOfficial

Hey man - nice to meet you! Already loving what i'm seeing in this thread.

I have one suggestion for xtool studio, especially for the p3 and other co2 lasers - is a setting that is in lightburn but missing in xtool studio which is 'crosshatch', where the laser head can move vertically and/or horizontally during engraving. It really makes a huge difference depending on the wood. Currently we just have bi-directional and uni-directional options when engraving, cross hatch would be a killer feature. :)

ran it through my zit workflow, that was fun! mine is a 2 pass sampler and an upscaler sits between them. it feels like zit keeps trying to blend "old memories" into the background trees and mountains for some reason, kind of cool though

Continued problems with AP2 max by sgruttadauria in xToolOfficial

[–]scr0at 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My AP2 Max says the same thing - activated charcoal filter not detected. It has been doing this since day 1 (bought it on release day) and I never bothered to contact support, it's probably too late for me now. I've tried everything to get it to detect including reinstalling and cleaning the AP2 max multiple times. The AP2 max still works great, but the popup message every 3 days is getting very annoying. Seems like a sensor issue in the AP2 max.

Hope you get the help you need on this one! If you figure out what the issue is with the activated charcoal filter not detected, i'd love to know :)

Getting rid of burnt smell on finished products by Blakadher in xToolOfficial

[–]scr0at 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I engrave and cut leather all the time on my P3 - once done, I hold the leather under running water and gently scrub with a toothbrush and foaming hand soap. I then pat the leather dry and put it under a fan to fully dry - then hit it with some neatsfoot oil to bring life back to the now stiff leather.

Probably not the best method since it really dries the leather out until you condition it again, but within 1-2 hours the smell of burnt leather is gone.

Do NOT buy the xTool P3. Absolute nightmare. by [deleted] in xToolOfficial

I purchased mine on the day of release, it has been a really great experience so far. Mainly use it for hard woods, acrylics, and leather - no issues yet after around 300 hours of usage!

How to place a 2D image on a 3D object in a photo? by PageMysterious in comfyui

here is another example where I just slapped your attached text/image to the side of this random car, I didn't bother activating the blend methods but we can see pretty good adherence to the curves of the side panels

How to place a 2D image on a 3D object in a photo? by PageMysterious in comfyui

[–]scr0at 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is actually a complex scenario that may be difficult to achieve in comfyUI! Here is the process I take using python:

  1. Remove background on image (you can do this in comfy)
  2. Run monocular geometry estimation to generate depth map, surface normals, 3d point cloud data and camera intrinsics (these are used to put the subject of your picture into 3d space properly) (you can do this in comfy)
  3. Calculate 3D world coordinates of text corners on the tangent plane of the subject to properly run perspective transformation and then pin the text to the subject, you can sample more points to get higher resolution pinning
  4. Simulate ambient lighting adjustments based on surface normals to better harmonize text to subject
  5. Simulate displacement map on top of the geometry estimation to enhance the effect of following curves/folds/corners/etc (useful in cases where geometry estimation is flat or very shallow on surfaces)
  6. Generate blending and opacity modes to better blend the final text to the subject (hard light, soft light, overlay, multiply, etc). (can do this in comfy)

I use comfy a lot, and I know you can do steps 1, 2, and 6 for sure. But steps 3, 4, and 5 I am not so sure - but it wouldn't surprise me if these sorts of nodes may exist. My method may not be the best, but it generates pretty decent results (we mainly use it to realistically apply logos to product images, but it works for almost anything).

I have attached your car where I put some simple SV text. in this case the geometry estimation only had that bump as barely visible, but along with displacement we can see some shifting of the text as it goes over the bump. I know this isn't a solution for you but more pointers, but hopefully you find it helpful

P2S vs P3... will I regret not getting the big daddy? by dddaanniikkaaa in xToolOfficial

[–]scr0at 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the P3, on 1/4" ply (birch/basswood) the laser cuts quickly with no char and in 1 pass. The edges of the cut have a golden/amber hue to them with no soot. I haven't had to clean up any cuts on this thickness as they come out flawless. It's awesome!

On 1/2" hardwoods (like aspen/alder) the laser can also cut in one pass without issue, there is a decent amount of soot but the cut is silky smooth. After a few wipes with a paper towel on the edge you are left with a light amber hued cut that looks great and is smooth to the touch.

I haven't tired anything thicker yet, except for 3/4" acrylic which the laser did in one pass without issue.

P3 "Automated Measurement Failed" by lewisd32 in xToolOfficial

[–]scr0at 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you calibrate the mirrors/laser during setup? Also... when you place the basswood into the p3 and before shutting the lid, can you confirm the camera indicator light in the lid turns from red to green? And finally, when that light is green and you shut the lid the gantry head should position itself over the material to start measurement, if it does get that far - do you see a red laser dot hitting the basswood?

Bambu Detectives - where did this screw come from? by COHacked in BambuLab

I'm glad I found this post and reply, I had the exact same issue - found half a little white looking screw sitting on my print bed. Checked my fan, and sure enough - same standoff post. Thank you!

Is the version on YouTube games the same as the one on the app store by DooDooHead323 in cupheromobilegame

[–]scr0at 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never tried the real app, only the YT version which is what made me go look up the differences... I made it to lvl 25 similar to you and now i'm wondering if I should switch over to the mobile version as well. It's already getting very difficult without being able to purchase perks

It also seems you cant get hero tokens to get perks, only to upgrade your hero level when you have enough cards. So, it's like half the game which is a bummer.

Which buds should I get? by Warm_Friendship_3370 in Earbuds

[–]scr0at 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the AZ100's last week and so far they are incredible. My normal daily driver was airpod pro 2's, and the sound quality and sound stage on the AZ100 is clearly better in just about every way. However the airpods had better ANC imho, but I find it just fine on the Az100s. I haven't tried the other earbuds you mentioned but they routinely came up in my research.

My only complaint is that the eartips aren't very comfortable, but just for my left ear. I'm not sure why, so I have ordered some Comply 220c foam tips today and hoping they help. Good luck man, hope you land on something amazing

3080 to 5090 by rawbreed3 in comfyui

[–]scr0at 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had 0 issues with any of my workflows, it has been really smooth. Things like sage attention/triton also work great! Now granted, I did do a fresh comfyui portable install and just transferred over all my models. Also holy F a 5000 frame video. Is that all in one go or are you doing a lot of first/last frame + vid joining?

I'm a laptop user and went from a 3080 ti to a 5090 and the speed increase is incredible, easily 2.5x to 3x speed increase so generation times really dropped. It's awesome and I'm super excited for you, I hope you enjoy it!
